Description
Blue Dolphin masking tape 60PV 29 mm x 25 m Washi delicate surfaces is a low-tack masking tape with an ultra-thin, dense washi paper backing. The construction prevents paint bleed and produces very sharp lines, especially with contrasting colours and varnishes. The violet colour code makes it easier to choose the right tape on site.
The acrylic-based adhesive is optimised for delicate substrates such as wallpapers, veneers and fresh paint surfaces (after at least 24 h of drying). The tape comes off cleanly even after 60 days when it has been applied correctly and conditions are favourable.
The 29 mm width balances coverage and handling, and the 25 m roll length suits both precise masking and general protection. The tape also conforms well to fine shapes, and the hand-tearable backing speeds up application.
Intended use:
- Wallpapers and veneer surfaces – The low-tack acrylic adhesive minimises the risk of surface damage and ensures clean removal. The ultra-thin washi presses evenly onto the surface, so paint bleed is reduced and the line is very neat. Suitable for feature walls, touch-up painting and trim work where the substrate is sensitive.
- Freshly painted surfaces (≥ 24 h) – Once the paint has dried for at least a day according to the manufacturer’s instructions, 60PV allows precise masking without tearing. The thin backing produces a sharp edge even with thin acrylic paints and varnishes, which reduces cleaning up afterwards.
- Decorative and textured surfaces – Microcement, light renders and panels benefit from the tight edge seal of the tape, which prevents paint from wicking over unevenness. This shortens work steps and improves the quality of the finish.
- Glass, plastics, metals and furniture – On smooth, non‑porous surfaces the tape forms a reliable boundary and comes off cleanly when removed within the recommended time. Suitable for masking window and door frames, furniture and trims.

Technical specifications (TDS, 60PV Washi Delicate):
- Total thickness: 80 µm (±15%) – An even film prevents bleed and supports a sharp line.
- Adhesion 180° stainless steel: ≤ 5 N/25 mm – Gentle adhesion reduces surface damage on removal.
- Tensile strength: 80 N/25 mm (±15%) – Withstands application and removal without breaking.
- Elongation at break: 5.06% (±5%) – Sufficient conformability for gentle shapes.
- Operating temperature range: −10…+80 °C – Suitable for indoor use and limited outdoor use.
- Storage: ≤ 21 °C, ≤ 50% RH; to be used within 12 months of shipment.
- Note: The values are typical reference values.
Blue Dolphin masking tape 60PV instructions for use:
- Surface preparation: Clean off dust, grease and moisture. Fresh paint: let it dry for ≥ 24 h according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Application: Place the tape in the required position and press the edge down all along. Do not stretch.
- Painting: Apply the paint as normal. The washi backing minimises bleed and produces razor-sharp lines.
- Removal: Remove at a low angle (~45°), pulling evenly. Best result with touch-dry paint or within 60 days at the latest.
- Storage: Store at ≤ 21 °C / ≤ 50% RH, protected from UV light; use within 12 months of shipment.
Warnings:
- Always test compatibility in an inconspicuous spot before wide use.
- Do not use on damp, dirty or flaking surfaces.
- Long UV exposure and high heat can shorten the clean removal time.
- Follow the paint manufacturer’s drying times.
- Not for electrical insulation or safety-critical applications.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How long can the tape be left in place?
Up to 60 days depending on the conditions and substrate. Remove at a low angle, pulling evenly.
Does the tape work on a fresh paint surface?
Yes, once the surface has dried for at least 24 h. We recommend a test spot before wide use.
Does the tape leave adhesive residue?
When used correctly and within the recommended time, no. Avoid long UV exposure.
Can the tape be used outdoors?
Yes, to a limited extent. The operating temperature of −10…+80 °C supports short-term outdoor protection.
Why choose a 29 mm width?
It offers a good compromise between handling and coverage; a narrower one suits details, a wider one large-scale protection.
Recycling instructions:
- Cardboard core and packaging: Sort for cardboard/paper collection according to local rules.
- The tape itself: Fibre-based, but the adhesive coating limits recycling; dispose of it as mixed waste unless local rules allow otherwise.
- Tip: Close the roll after use to protect it from dust, and reuse clean pieces.
