Description
The Painter paint roller Ø48 mm 13 mm nylon is designed to meet the strict criteria of demanding professional painting. The 13 millimetre nylon pile (polyamide) of the roller is very hard-wearing and keeps its shape and resilience in repeated use, even with aggressive chemicals. The long-lasting polyamide fibre can absorb considerable amounts of paint and transfer it to the surface evenly and efficiently.
This roller is made with an advanced thermofusion method, in which the fabric is attached to the plastic core by melting it with heat. No adhesive at all is used in the construction, so the roller withstands the strongest solvents on the market, epoxy paints and glass fibre resins without melting or coming loose. Thermofusion ensures a long tool life and prevents adhesive residue mixing with the paint.
One of the most important features of the roller is its bevelled edges. Both ends of the roller are cut at an angle, which stops a sharp roller edge or excess paint drops forming on the painted surface. The bevelled edges allow a perfectly seamless paint film without lines when strokes overlap. This is especially critical in floor coatings and high-gloss finishes.
The tool is compatible with standard 8 mm push-in roller frames, and its Ø48 mm core diameter optimises the rotation speed, preventing paint spatter even at a fast working pace.
Intended use:
- Epoxy painting and floor coatings: The nylon fibre and adhesive-free thermofusion construction make the roller ideal for applying two-component epoxy paints and urethane coatings.
- Glass fibre and resin: Excellent for laminating polyester and epoxy resins in boatbuilding and composite construction.
- Demanding professional painting: Efficient, mark-free application of water- and solvent-based paints to large wall and ceiling surfaces indoors and outdoors.

Painter WKL1021 instructions for use:
Use the roller with an 8 mm push-in roller frame. Before first use, remove any manufacturing dust by brushing the fabric or rolling it against masking tape. Dip the roller carefully in the paint or resin and make sure the 13 mm pile is evenly loaded. Roll off the excess liquid on the grid of the paint tray.
Apply the paint or coating with even strokes. Thanks to the bevelled edges, you can overlap roller strokes smoothly without worrying about visible lines. When working with two-component products such as epoxies, observe the permitted working time (pot life) of the product so that it does not cure on the roller.
After use, clean the roller immediately with the cleaning agent or thinner given by the paint manufacturer or in the resin’s product data. With epoxies and resins, the roller is typically disposed of as single-use as the product cures, as resins are often impossible to wash completely out of the nylon pile.
Warnings:
When using solvent-based paints, epoxies or resins, make sure the work area is very well ventilated and protect yourself with suitable respiratory protection (e.g. an activated carbon filter), safety glasses and chemical-resistant protective gloves. Uncured epoxy can cause severe allergic skin reactions. Because of the fire risk, do not leave a roller soaked in epoxy or resin unattended in a closed space, as the curing process of the product (an exothermic reaction) can generate considerable heat.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What is the advantage of bevelled edges?
The sharp edge of a normal roller can squeeze paint outwards and leave a thick line on the painted surface. Bevelled edges soften the edge area of the roller, so the paint levels out nicely and the boundaries between strokes disappear. This speeds up the work and improves the result.
Why choose a nylon roller for epoxy painting?
Nylon, or polyamide, is a mechanically very strong and chemically resistant fibre. It does not melt or break down even under strong solvents. Combined with a heat-fused thermofusion core, the roller also does not release adhesive or fabric into the coating.
Is this roller suitable for water-based paints?
Yes. Although the roller is optimised for heavy professional coatings and solvents, the 13 mm nylon pile also transfers water-based paint very efficiently and leaves a neat finish when painting large wall or ceiling surfaces.
Recycling instructions:
A roller used with water-based paints and washed dry can be sorted as mixed waste. If the roller has been used with epoxy paints, resins or hazardous solvent-based paints, a cured roller or one containing residue should be disposed of as hazardous waste according to local waste regulations. The product packaging is sorted into plastic collection.
