Description
The Procat mini grinder brush and polishing set 15-piece is a comprehensive, versatile collection of accessories designed for use with high-speed rotary multi-tools (such as mini grinders and die grinders). This set gives professionals and demanding users a complete range of tools for precise cleaning, surface treatment, deburring and high-gloss finishing of different materials. The set is an essential accessory for restoration work, precision engineering, jewellery work and finishing machined parts, for example.
The set contains brushes made of three different materials for different purposes. Steel wire brushes are the most aggressive and suit efficient cleaning of hard metal surfaces, such as removing rust, paint or welding slag. Brass brushes are softer and “non-sparking”, which makes them ideal for cleaning softer metals (such as copper, brass and aluminium) without significant scratching of the surface. Nylon brushes are the gentlest and suit light cleaning and dust removal on delicate surfaces such as plastics, wood or painted surfaces.
Each brush material is available in three different shapes: as a wheel brush for treating flat surfaces and grooves, as a cup brush for efficient cleaning of larger flat surfaces, and as a pencil or end brush for precise work in tight recesses, holes and corners.
For finishing, the set contains quality felt polishing wheels and a matching mandrel. The felt wheels are used with polishing compound (sold separately) to polish metal, plastic and stone surfaces to a high gloss. The felts of different sizes in the set let you polish both small details and slightly larger surfaces.
All the parts of the set have a standard-size shank that is compatible with the chucks of most mini grinders on the market, which ensures easy start-up and wide compatibility.
Intended use:
This set is designed for versatile surface treatment tasks on different materials in tight spots that call for precision.
- Removing rust and paint: Steel brushes efficiently remove rust, old paint and corrosion from metal parts, bolt heads and tools, even in tight spots.
- Cleaning and preparing surfaces: Brass and nylon brushes are suitable for cleaning dirt, grease and oxidation from machine parts, carburettors, jewellery and other precision parts without damaging the base material itself.
- Deburring and edge rounding: The brushes can remove light machining burrs and round off sharp edges on metal and plastic parts.
- High-gloss polishing: With felt wheels and polishing compound, you can achieve a mirror finish on metals (such as chrome, steel, brass and silver) and hard plastics. Suitable for polishing jewellery or finishing small metal parts, for example.

Procat mini grinder brush and polishing set instructions for use:
Brushing (steel, brass, nylon):
Choose a brush suitable for the material being worked. Use steel only for hard metals, brass for softer metals and nylon for delicate surfaces.
Fix the shank of the brush firmly in the chuck of the mini grinder.
Always wear safety glasses, as bristles can come loose during use.
Set a moderate speed. Too high a speed can loosen bristles and reduce the cleaning result. Lower speeds are recommended especially for steel brushes (max 15,000 RPM).
Press the brush lightly against the workpiece. Let the tips of the bristles do the work. Pressing too hard bends the bristles and makes them break prematurely.
Polishing (felt wheels):
Fit the felt wheel you want to the supplied screw mandrel. The small felt is already fitted; the larger ones are changed by undoing the screw at the end of the mandrel.
Fix the mandrel in the chuck of the tool.
Apply a suitable polishing compound (not included) to the felt wheel or the workpiece. The felt does not polish effectively when dry.
Use a moderate speed and light pressure. Too much speed or pressure can heat the workpiece or burn the felt.
Add more compound when needed. Finally, clean compound residues off the polished surface with a soft cloth.
Warnings:
- Eye protection is mandatory: Small pieces of wire come off metal wire brushes in particular during use and are thrown out at high speed. Always wear approved safety glasses with side protection.
- Speed: Do not exceed the maximum speed recommended for the brushes. Too high a speed is a safety risk and quickly destroys the brush. Lower speeds are recommended for steel brushes than for grinding stones, for example.
- Securing the workpiece: Make sure the workpiece is firmly secured so that it cannot move under the force of brushing.
- Respiratory protection: Cleaning rust, paint or other coatings produces dust that can be harmful. Wear a respirator when necessary.
- Pressure: Avoid pressing too hard. It does not speed up work, but damages the brush and can overheat the motor of the tool.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Do I need polishing compound with the felt wheels?
Yes. Felt wheels are intended for use with polishing or grinding compound. Used dry, they do not give a high-gloss result and wear out quickly.
When do I choose a brass brush instead of a steel brush?
Choose a brass brush when you clean softer metals (such as aluminium, copper or brass) and want to avoid scratching the surface. Brass is softer than steel. Brass is also a so-called non-sparking material. A steel brush is best for hard steel and aggressive rust removal.
Do these fit all mini grinders?
The shanks in the set have a standard-size stem (typically 3.0 mm) that fits most rotary multi-tools and mini grinders on the market, including Dremel-branded tools. Check the chuck size of your tool to be sure.
Recycling instructions:
- Brushes and mandrels: Worn-out brushes with metal shanks and mandrels can be recycled in metal collection.
- Felt wheels: Worn felt wheels impregnated with polishing compound are disposed of as mixed waste.
- Packaging: Sort the packaging materials by material (plastic/cardboard) into the appropriate collection containers.
