Description
Made of stainless 3Cr13 steel, this insulation knife is designed for efficient cutting of insulation materials such as glass wool and stone wool. Thanks to its long blade, this insulation knife goes through even thick insulation boards effortlessly.
The overall length of the knife is 415 millimetres and the blade itself is 280 millimetres long. These proportions give optimal reach when working wide insulation materials. 3Cr13 stainless steel as a material reduces oxidation of the blade and makes cleaning easier on site.
The blade profile and serration of this insulation knife are optimised so that the cut stays clean without tearing the material excessively. A clean cut surface helps the insulation fit tightly and minimises offcuts when insulating.
Thanks to the correctly shaped handle, the insulation knife stays firmly in the hand during the cutting stroke. The balance of the tool has been taken into account in the design, so that repeated cuts need as little force as possible.
Intended use:
- Thermal insulation: Precise cutting and shaping of mineral wool, glass wool and stone wool in wall, ceiling and floor insulation.
- Acoustic work: Fitting and cutting sound insulation boards to the right dimensions inside structures.
- Other insulation materials: With certain reservations, also suitable for cutting up other soft insulation materials such as foam plastics.

Procat insulation knife 280 / 415 mm 3Cr13 stainless instructions for use:
Always use the insulation knife with a straight pulling stroke against the material being cut. Avoid twisting the blade sideways, so that the blade does not bend or get damaged. Cut insulation against a flat base for the best result.
Clean the insulation knife after each use by removing insulation dust and fibres from the blade surface. Store the knife in a dry place to avoid corrosion, even though it is stainless steel.
Warnings:
- Risk of cuts: The blade is extremely sharp and long. Always handle the knife carefully and keep it out of reach of unauthorised persons.
- Protective equipment: When cutting insulation, it is advisable to wear cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses and a respirator because of insulation dust.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can this insulation knife cut hard EPS insulation?
This insulation knife is designed primarily for soft mineral wool and stone wool. Saws designed for the purpose are recommended for cutting hard polystyrene and polyurethane boards.
How does 3Cr13 steel differ from ordinary carbon steel?
3Cr13 is a stainless steel grade that tolerates moisture and changing environmental conditions better without oxidising quickly.
Recycling instructions:
When the insulation knife reaches the end of its life, the metal blade can be sorted into metal collection. If the handle can be removed or is made of a different material, it should be sorted into mixed waste or plastic collection in line with local waste management regulations. Recycle the packaging materials in cardboard or plastic collection depending on the material.
