Description
Yato cordless glue gun 18V is a cordless hot glue gun that melts glue sticks with a diameter of 11 mm and dispenses glue with the trigger at up to 25 g/min. Set YT-82854 includes the gun, a 2 Ah Li-Ion battery, a charger and three glue sticks, so the gun works without a mains cable straight after charging.
The heater raises the working temperature to 200 °C in about 25 seconds. The gun is switched on by holding the power switch down for about 3 seconds; the indicator light next to the switch is red while heating up and turns green when the gun is ready to use. The nozzle light illuminates the gluing point.
The trigger feeds the glue stick mechanically towards the nozzle, and each press dispenses a new portion of glue. The nozzle has a valve that reduces glue dripping. With a fully charged 2 Ah battery, the maximum operating time is 60 minutes, and charging the battery takes about 1 hour.
The gun weighs 0.3 kg without the battery. A stand keeps the gun upright during breaks, and the battery has charge level indicator lights and cell overheating protection. The operating voltage is 18 V DC, protection class III and IP rating IPX0, so the unit is intended for dry spaces.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless glue gun 18V is intended for gluing various materials with hot glue in places where there is no mains power nearby or a cable would get in the way.
- Installation and repair work: Fixing cables, mouldings, seals and light fasteners and small repairs; the joint is ready in about 1–2 minutes.
- Crafts and floristry: Gluing decorations, flower arrangements, cardboard, wood and textiles with precise glue dots.
- Textiles: Gluing fabrics and similar materials, applying the glue in an S pattern.
- Packaging and production: Fixing light parts and gluing packaging materials when a fast-setting joint without drying time is needed.
The gun belongs to the Yato 18 V battery system, whose batteries and chargers fit the other tools in the range; a suitable additional battery is the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and an additional charger the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A. A mains-powered alternative for the same 11 mm sticks is the Lund hot glue gun 11 mm 72W + 2 glue sticks.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless glue gun 18V:
Charging the battery: The battery is supplied uncharged. Push the battery into the charger and plug the charger into a socket: the red indicator light is lit while charging, and green indicates a full battery. Charge only in a dry place, under supervision and only with the supplied charger.
Getting started: Attach the battery with the switch off. Push an 11 mm glue stick into the feed opening as far as it will go, without force. Switch on the gun by holding the power switch down for about 3 seconds and wait for the indicator light to change from red to green.
Gluing: Make a test gluing on scrap material. Aim the nozzle at the gluing point and press the trigger; each press brings a new portion of glue. Apply the glue to clean, dry and grease-free surfaces, press the parts together and wait about 1–2 minutes. Use spot gluing on large surfaces and an S pattern on textiles. Foam plastics such as polystyrene are not glued without a protective coating.
Breaks and switching off: During breaks, stand the gun upright on its stand with the nozzle down. After a break of more than 30 minutes, wait for the cold stick to warm up. Switch off the gun with the power switch and let it cool before maintenance.
Stuck glue stick: Heat the gun for 10 minutes and pull the stick out carefully. The glue channel must not be cleaned with sharp tools.
Maintenance: Clean the housing and switches with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a cloth without chemicals. Store the battery at 0–30 °C at about 70% charge; charge it once a year during long-term storage.
Warnings:
- The nozzle and molten glue are at about 200 °C: do not touch the nozzle or hot glue, risk of burns.
- Glue can still drip from the nozzle after the trigger is released because of residual heat.
- Do not lay the gun on its side or with the nozzle up; keep it upright on its stand during breaks.
- Do not force the glue stick: the stick can get stuck inside the gun.
- Use only 11 mm glue sticks. Do not glue heat-sensitive materials.
- Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. The unit may be used by children over 8 only under supervision or with instruction; keep the gun out of the reach of children.
- Do not use the gun in rain or damp spaces (IPX0) or in explosive atmospheres.
- Do not use a damaged charger or battery; do not short-circuit the battery terminals. A damaged battery must not be transported.
