Description
Yato cordless hedge trimmer 55 cm 2 Ah (YT-828333) is a hedge trimmer set from the Yato 18V battery system that includes the trimmer, a 2 Ah Li-Ion battery and a charging station. The laser-cut blade has a cutting length of 550 mm (22″), and the blade cuts branches up to 16 mm thick at a cutting speed of 1550 min⁻¹ .
The rear handle turns to locking positions 0°, ±45° and ±90°. Thanks to the rotating handle, the wrist stays in a natural position even when cutting the vertical sides of a hedge. The handles have a soft, rubber-coated grip surface, and there is a transparent hand guard behind the front handle.
The trimmer starts only with two hands: the power switch lock on the front handle and the power switch on the rear handle are held down throughout the work. When the switch is released, the trimmer stops. The battery is at the rear of the body and locks into a latch. The blade comes with a blade cover for transport and storage.
The battery in the set is an 18 V / 2 Ah (36 Wh) Li-Ion battery with a charge level indicator. The charging station (220–240 V, 60 W, output 21 V DC / 2.4 A) charges it in about 1 hour. The same battery fits all tools in the Yato 18V system. The electrical protection class is III. The sound pressure level is 84.4 dB(A), the sound power level 92.0 dB(A) and the vibration 2.27 m/s²; the guaranteed sound power level under Directive 2000/14/EC is 94 dB(A).
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless hedge trimmer 55 cm 2 Ah is designed for trimming and shaping shrub crowns and hedges and for cutting thin branches. Being battery-powered, it is quieter than a petrol machine and can be used near buildings and in places beyond the reach of a mains cable. A suitable extra battery is, for example, the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery. A model in the same range with a shorter blade is the Yato cordless hedge trimmer 18V 45 cm, body only, and for tall hedges the Yato cordless long-reach hedge trimmer 18V, body only.
- Top of hedges: move the 550 mm blade in wide arcs tilted 5–10° in the cutting direction; a taut string helps achieve an even height.
- Sides of hedges: vertical cutting is done with curved movements from bottom to top and top to bottom, so both sides of the blade are used; turn the rear handle to the ±45° or ±90° position.
- Shrubs and ornamental shrubs: shaping crowns and cutting thin branches up to 16 mm.
- Gardens and around buildings: the cordless trimmer does not need an extension cable, and its noise level is lower than that of a petrol machine.

Yato cordless hedge trimmer 55 cm 2 Ah user manual:
Preparation: always remove the battery before adjustments, cleaning and maintenance. Inspect the trimmer visually, pull off the blade cover and check that the blades are not damaged. Mark a safety zone around the work area and remove loose branches and debris from previous cutting.
Battery: charge the battery before first use: insert the battery into the charging station and plug the station into a socket. The red LED is lit during charging and the green LED comes on when the battery is full. Push the battery into the trimmer’s battery slot until the latch locks. Remove the battery by pressing the latch and pulling the battery out.
Adjusting the handle: slide the latch button on the rear handle towards the front of the trimmer, hold it down and turn the handle to the desired marked position. Release the button and make sure the handle locks.
Starting and stopping: take a stable stance. Grip the front handle and press the power switch lock, grip the rear handle with the other hand and press the power switch. Keep both pressed throughout the work. The trimmer stops when the power switch is released.
Cutting: cut at full speed with wide movements and tilt the blade 5–10° in the cutting direction. Do not let the unit run at low speed. If the blade jams, switch off the trimmer, remove the battery and let the parts cool before removing the jammed material.
Maintenance and storage: clean the blades with a brush after every use and protect them with lubricant spray. The blade clearance is 0.2–0.4 mm; dull or damaged blades are sharpened or replaced by an authorised service centre. Store the trimmer in a dry, enclosed space with the battery removed and the blade cover in place.
Warnings:
- Keep all parts of the body away from the blade; the blades keep moving for a moment after the switch is released.
- Hold the trimmer only by its insulated handles; the hedge may contain hidden electrical cables.
- Wear safety glasses and hearing protection; also wear protective gloves and sturdy footwear.
- Do not use the trimmer in rain, wet conditions or thunderstorms.
- Remove the battery before clearing jammed material, adjustments, maintenance and transport, and fit the blade cover for transport.
- The gearbox cover gets hot during use; do not touch it.
- Keep children and bystanders away from the work area; take special care on slippery, sloping or uneven ground.
- Take breaks: noise and vibration strain the user. Stop work immediately if you experience nausea, dizziness or visual disturbances.
- Charge the battery only with the supplied charging station in a dry indoor space under supervision; do not short-circuit the battery terminals.

Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard packaging for cardboard recycling and plastic parts for plastic recycling. At the end of its life, the Yato cordless hedge trimmer 55 cm 2 Ah is an electrical appliance (EEE): take it to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) or to the retailer, not to mixed waste. Recycle the Li-Ion battery separately at a battery collection point with its terminals taped. Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous goods in transport: a damaged battery must not be shipped.
