Description

The Yato knotted cup brush M14 75 mm stainless steel is a cup-shaped brush for angle grinders, for mechanical pre-cleaning of metal surfaces. The knotted stainless steel wire forms stiff tufts that bite into corrosion, flaking layers of paint and welding slag. The Ø75 mm diameter offers a combination of coverage and precise control on profiles, on edges and in tight spots.

The cup body stabilises contact with the surface being worked and helps keep the finish even. The M14 thread fits common 115–125 mm angle grinders. INOX wire reduces the risk of cross-contamination from iron particles on stainless steel surfaces compared with carbon steel wire, which is useful in preparation before coating or painting.

The brush is suitable for removing rust, oxides and ingrained dirt and for keying the surface when you want to create a microstructure that improves adhesion. The right working technique (a shallow angle, light to moderate pressure and a suitable speed) produces a controlled result without needless removal of base material.

Intended use:

  • Removing rust and paint residues: The knotted tufts remove corrosion and multi-layer coatings quickly. The Ø75 mm size allows precise work on railings, stair parts and the edge areas of sheet structures, leaving a roughness that the primer adheres to evenly.

  • Cleaning up weld spatter and slag: Before further treatment, the brush is used to remove spatter and heat-zone oxides. The knotted construction withstands point loads and progresses in a controlled way on seams and near corners.

  • Keying the surface before coating/bonding: Mechanical keying creates a uniform microstructure to improve the adhesion of coatings and adhesives. Particularly suitable for smooth steel surfaces and stainless steel jobs where minimising cross-contamination is important.

  • Maintenance pre-cleaning outdoors and in damp conditions: INOX wire is suitable for conditions where moisture and splashes have a significant effect, such as outdoor structures, tanks and the steel parts of process equipment.

Yato knotted cup brush M14 75 mm stainless steel: instructions for use:

  1. Fitting: Disconnect the machine from the power supply. Screw the brush onto the M14 thread and tighten according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure the guard is in the correct position.

  2. Test run: Run the brush without load; stop if there is abnormal vibration or “runout”.

  3. Working: Hold the brush at a shallow angle, use light to moderate pressure and make even sweeps. Avoid long point contact.

  4. Breaks and inspection: Stop regularly, remove loose material and check for wear. Replace the brush if knotted tufts are missing, the wire has shortened unevenly or the cup is damaged.

  5. Maintenance: Clean off dust and swarf, dry and store in a dry place. Do not straighten bent knots.

Warnings:

  • Wear safety glasses/a visor, a respirator suited to the dust level, protective gloves and, if necessary, ear defenders.

  • Do not exceed the speed permitted for the brush/machine.

Why knotted wire and not crimped wire?
Knotted wire is stiffer and bites harder, for thick rust and slag; crimped wire is more moderate, for an even roughness.

Can the brush be used on stainless steel?

Is it suitable for aluminium?
Yes for light oxide removal and keying; use light pressure and avoid heat build-up.

5. Käyttö- ja huolto-ohjeet
