Description

The Yato knotted cup brush M6 65 mm stainless steel is a cup brush for drills, intended for heavy cleaning and preparation. The knotted wire construction, made of stainless steel, gives a stiff, aggressive brushing surface that removes rust, flaking layers of paint, oxides and slag residues quickly and in a controlled way. The compact 65 mm diameter improves visibility and precision in tight spots, corners and profiles.

The M6 fitting allows straight, centred fitting in the drill chuck or a suitable adapter. The adjustable speed of the drill gives control on thin sheet and heat-sensitive surfaces, where an angle grinder could be too aggressive. The cup body spreads the load evenly, reducing the edge digging in and improving the stability of the work.

The stainless steel (INOX) wire withstands moisture and outdoor conditions and reduces the risk of iron contamination when working on stainless steel surfaces. The brush is suitable for maintenance, renovation, cleaning up weld seams and keying before coating.

Intended use:

  • Removing rust and paint from metal surfaces: The knotted wire bites into firmly adhering corrosion and layered coatings. The small Ø65 mm size lets you work in recesses and on edges of railings, stair parts and machine components, leaving a roughness that improves adhesion for later treatments.

  • Cleaning off weld spatter, slag and oxides: Before grinding, passivation or painting, the brush removes spatter and heat-zone oxides quickly without excessive removal of the base material. The even finish reduces the need for later grinding and speeds up the work steps.

  • Keying the surface before coating/bonding: Mechanical keying creates a uniform microstructure that improves the mechanical adhesion of coatings and adhesives. Particularly useful on smooth sheets and hard steel surfaces where good adhesion is required.

  • Maintenance in outdoor conditions: The corrosion resistance of the INOX wire makes the brush suitable for outdoor steel structures, tanks and damp locations. The risk of cross-contamination is lower than with carbon steel wire, which helps prevent new rust spots from forming.

Yato knotted cup brush M6 65 mm stainless steel: instructions for use:

  1. Fitting: Disconnect the drill from the battery/mains. Fit the brush to the M6 fitting/chuck straight and centred; tighten according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. Test run: Run it briefly without load; stop if there is abnormal vibration or runout.

  3. Working: Hold the brush at a shallow angle and let the knotted wire do the work. Use light to moderate pressure; avoid long point contact to prevent overheating.

  4. Breaks and cleaning: Stop regularly, remove loose material and check for wear/imbalance.

  5. Maintenance: Clean off dust and swarf; dry and store in a dry place. Do not force bent knots straight.

Why choose knotted wire instead of crimped wire?
Knotted wire is stiffer and more aggressive, so it removes thick rust and slag faster. Crimped wire is more moderate and leaves a softer roughness.

Can the brush be used on stainless steel?
Yes. INOX wire reduces iron contamination. Clean the surface after use for the best results.

Is it suitable for aluminium?
Yes for light oxide removal and keying, but avoid excessive pressure and heat so that the surface does not get scratched or “close up”.

When should the brush be replaced?
When the knots have shortened unevenly, tufts are missing, the cup is damaged or vibration increases, replace it with a new one.

4.2 Riskienhallintatoimet

  • PPE: suojalasit/visiiri pakollinen; P2/P3-hengityksensuojain pölytason mukaan; mekaanista riskiä kestävät käsineet; tarvittaessa kuulosuojaimet.

  • Kiinnitys ja koeajo: kiinnitä suoraan ja keskitetysti M6:een/istukkaan; tee lyhyt tyhjäkäyntikoe ja keskeytä, jos ilmenee poikkeavaa tärinää/heittoa.

  • Työmenetelmä: loiva kulma, kevyt–kohtalainen paine; tasaiset pyyhkäisyt; vältä pitkäkestoista pistemäistä kosketusta ja ylikuumenemista.

5. Käyttö- ja huolto-ohjeet

  1. Asennus: Irrota pora akusta/verkosta. Kiinnitä harja M6-kiinnitykseen/istukkaan tukevasti ja keskitetysti; kiristä valmistajan ohjeen mukaan.

  2. Aloitus: Aseta maltillinen kierrosluku; tee lyhyt koeajo vapaalla ja varmista tasainen käynti.

  3. Työskentely: Anna punoslankan tehdä työ; vältä liiallista painetta ja paikallaan hankausta.

  4. Tauotus ja puhdistus: Pysäytä säännöllisesti, poista irtoaines ja tarkista kuluma; vaihda harja, jos tärinä lisääntyy.

  5. Huolto: Puhdista pölystä/lastuista; kuivaa ja säilytä kuivassa. Älä oikaise taipuneita punoksia väkisin.
