Description

The Yato knotted cup brush M6 75 mm stainless steel is a cup-shaped cleaning and preparation brush for drills, made of stainless steel wire (INOX). The knotted wire construction makes the brush stiff and aggressive, which speeds up the removal of rust, flaking layers of paint, slag and oxides from metal surfaces. The compact 75 mm diameter gives good visibility and control in tight spots, on edge profiles and on narrow surfaces.

The M6 fitting allows firm, straight fitting in the drill chuck or a suitable holder. The adjustable speed of the drill gives controlled working even on delicate workpieces where the aggressiveness of an angle grinder would be too much. The cup shape spreads the load evenly and reduces the edge digging in, giving the surface an even microstructure that improves adhesion before primer, coating or bonding.

The stainless steel wire withstands moisture and changing conditions, so the brush is suitable for maintenance both indoors and outdoors. Using stainless wire reduces the risk of iron contamination on stainless steel surfaces compared with carbon steel wire. Correct use (light to moderate pressure, a suitable speed range and regular breaks) extends its life and improves the quality of the work.

Intended use:

  • Removing rust and paint from metal surfaces: The knotted wire bites into firmly adhering corrosion and layered coatings. The cup shape keeps contact stable, so the work progresses in a controlled way and leaves an even finish for further treatment. Suitable for railings, profiles, sheets and machine parts.

  • Cleaning off weld spatter, slag and oxides: Before grinding, passivation or painting, the brush removes spatter and heat-zone oxide layers quickly without excessive loss of base material. Improves the uniformity of the surface being worked and reduces the need for grinding later.

  • Keying the surface before coating/bonding: Mechanical keying creates a microstructure that improves adhesion for coatings and adhesives. Particularly useful on smooth steel surfaces and stainless steel, where cross-contamination should be kept to a minimum.

  • Maintenance in outdoor conditions: INOX wire withstands splashes and changes in the weather. Suitable, for example, for servicing stairs and railings, pre-cleaning tanks and outdoor structures, and renovation work.

(Note: Controlling the torque and speed of the drill allows gentler treatment than with an angle grinder, which is an advantage in tight spots and on thin sheet.)

Features:

  • Diameter: 75 mm – Precision and good visibility in tight spots.

  • Fixing: M6 – Straight, firm fitting in the drill chuck/adapter.

  • Bristle material: Stainless steel (INOX), knotted – High aggressiveness and long life; reduces iron contamination.

  • Structure: Cup – Even contact, controlled material removal, less edge digging in.

  • Uses: Rust, paint, slag, oxides – Preparation before painting/coating/bonding.

  • Machine compatibility: Drill/cordless drill – Adjustable speed and controlled working.

Yato knotted cup brush M6 75 mm stainless steel: instructions for use:

  1. Fitting: Disconnect the drill from the battery/mains. Fit the brush straight and centred to the M6 fitting or in the chuck. Make sure there is no runout.

  2. Test run: Run it briefly without load. Stop if vibration or “runout” is abnormal.

  3. Working: Set a moderate speed. Hold the brush at a shallow angle and use light to moderate pressure; let the knotted wire do the work. Avoid staying in one spot to prevent heating.

  4. Breaks and inspection: Stop regularly, remove loose material and assess wear. Replace the brush if the knots are unevenly worn or the cup is damaged.

  5. Maintenance and storage: Clean off swarf and dust, dry and store in a dry place. Do not force bent knots straight.

Warnings:

  • Always wear safety glasses/a visor, a respirator suited to the dust level, protective gloves and, if necessary, ear defenders.

  • Keep within the speed range permitted for the drill and the brush; avoid imbalance.

  • Do not use a damaged, bent or unbalanced brush.

  • Keep flammable materials away from the work area; sparks can come from the workpiece.

  • Not for use in explosive atmospheres. Keep out of the reach of children.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

Can I use the brush on stainless steel?
Yes. Stainless wire reduces cross-contamination from iron particles. Clean the surface after use.

Is it suitable for aluminium?
Yes, for light oxide removal and keying. Avoid excessive pressure and heat so that the surface is not deeply scratched.

Why knotted wire?
Knotted wire is stiff and aggressive: it removes rust and slag faster than crimped wire and withstands point loads better.

When is the brush replaced?
When the knots have shortened unevenly, individual tufts are missing or vibration increases, replace it with a new one to ensure safety and quality.
