Description
The Yato knotted wheel brush M6 100 mm stainless steel is a wheel brush for drills, optimised for heavy cleaning. The knotted stainless steel wire tufts form a stiff, aggressive brushing surface that efficiently removes thick rust, flaking layers of paint, welding slag and oxides. Thanks to the geometry of the wheel brush, contact is even on long straight strokes and in edge areas, so the rate of progress and the uniformity of the finish stay under control.
The Ø100 mm size combines good coverage and manoeuvrability. This size is a natural choice for sheet steel, profiles, railings and frame parts where you want aggressive cleaning and a microstructure that improves adhesion before coating or painting. The M6 shank fits in the drill chuck, and the variable speed lets you optimise the process for the material and the workpiece.
Using INOX wire reduces the risk of cross-contamination from iron particles on stainless steel surfaces. It also withstands moisture and outdoor conditions better than carbon steel wire. With the right working technique (a shallow angle, light to moderate pressure and even sweeps) you get an even, controlled roughness without needless loss of base material.
Intended use:
-
Heavy removal of rust and paint: Knotted wire bites into firmly adhering coatings and corrosion. The Ø100 mm coverage speeds up work on railings, tanks and sheet structures, leaving an even bonding surface for the primer. This reduces the need for separate grinding and shortens the overall process.
-
Cleaning up the weld zone and removing slag: The brush removes spatter and heat-zone oxides before passivation or coating. Knotted wire withstands point loads and works in a controlled way on seams and edges, so it is easier to keep the geometry of the seams intact.
-
Keying the surface before coating/bonding: Mechanical keying creates a uniform microstructure to improve the adhesion of coatings and adhesives. The pulling direction of the wheel brush makes it easier to get a repeatable, striped finish, which is useful on flat surfaces and over long stroke lengths.
-
Maintenance pre-cleaning outdoors and in damp conditions: The corrosion resistance of the INOX wire and the low risk of cross-contamination make the brush suitable for outdoor structures and the steel parts of process equipment. It works well before more precise restoration steps such as sandblasting or chemical passivation.

Yato knotted wheel brush M6 100 mm stainless steel: instructions for use:
-
Fitting: Disconnect the drill from the battery/mains. Fit the brush in the chuck/adapter and make sure it is centred; tighten according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Test run: Run the brush without load for a few seconds. Stop if there is abnormal vibration or “runout”.
-
Working: Keep a shallow angle and use light to moderate pressure. Make even sweeps; avoid long point contact and heat build-up.
-
Breaks and inspection: Stop regularly, remove loose material and check that the knotted tufts are intact. Replace the brush if tufts are missing or vibration increases.
-
Maintenance: Clean off dust and swarf; dry and store in a dry place. Do not straighten bent knots.
Warnings:
-
Always wear safety glasses/a visor, a respirator suited to the dust level, protective gloves and, if necessary, ear defenders.
-
Do not exceed the maximum speed permitted for the brush/drill.
-
Do not use a damaged or unbalanced brush.
-
Keep flammable materials away from the work area; sparks can come from the workpiece.
-
Not for use in explosive atmospheres. Keep out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
When do I choose a wheel brush instead of a cup brush?
A wheel brush is better for long straight strokes and large flat surfaces; a cup brush works with more localised contact and in targeted spots.
Why knotted wire?
Knotted wire is stiff and aggressive, which speeds up the removal of thick rust and slag. Crimped wire leaves a more moderate roughness but removes material more slowly.
Can the brush be used on stainless steel?
Yes. INOX wire reduces the risk of iron contamination. Clean the surface after use.
Is it suitable for aluminium?
Yes for light oxide removal and keying; use light pressure and avoid heat build-up.
