Description
The Yato CrV screwdriver is a general-purpose screwdriver with a shaft made of chrome vanadium steel CrV 6150. The vanadium in the alloy steel refines the grain structure, which keeps the tip in shape under repeated torque loads. The surface of the shaft is satin-finished, which reduces glare and protects against light corrosion.
The tip is magnetised. The magnet holds the screw on the tip when you drive it in with one hand or push it into a recess where there is no room for your fingers to hold it. The magnetised tip also helps you lift out a screw you have removed.
The handle is made of polypropylene (PP). It has a triangular cross-section, so your palm can apply torque without the grip slipping. Polypropylene resists oil and ordinary cleaning agents.
The Yato CrV screwdriver is available with slotted and Phillips (PH) tips in different tip sizes and shaft lengths. Choose the tip type, tip size and shaft length from the model selector on the product page to suit the screw you are working with.
Intended use and suitability:
A screwdriver is used to tighten and undo screws by hand. The right tip size is the single most important factor: a tip that is too small rounds off the screw slot, and one that is too large does not seat all the way to the bottom.
- Installation and repair work: furniture, machine covers, brackets and trims.
- Household appliances and equipment: opening service hatches and housings.
- Deep screw holes: the magnetic tip holds the screw in place in the recess.
- Mixed work: slotted and Phillips screws in the same range.
Package contents:
- 1 screwdriver with the selected tip type, tip size and shaft length
Features:
- CrV 6150 shaft: the alloy steel withstands torque loads without the tip rounding off.

Yato CrV screwdriver instructions for use:
Choosing the tip: Choose a tip that fills the full width of the screw slot and reaches the bottom of the slot. For a slotted screw, the tip width matches the slot length; for a Phillips screw, the PH size matches the screw size.
Use: Press the screwdriver along the axis of the screw and turn evenly. The pressure stops the tip riding out of the slot. Start the screw with light pressure so that the thread does not go in at an angle.
Care: Wipe the shaft and handle after use. Replace the screwdriver when the edges of the tip have rounded off or the shaft has bent.
Warnings:
- The screwdriver is not a tool for live work: do not use it on live parts, as the shaft and tip conduct electricity.
- Do not use the screwdriver as a chisel, lever or nail puller: the shaft will bend and the tip will break.
- Do not strike the end of the handle with a hammer; the polypropylene handle will crack.
- A worn or rounded tip slips out of the slot and creates a risk of cuts.
- Keep out of the reach of children; the tip is sharp.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which tips are there in the Yato CrV screwdriver range? Slotted tips and Phillips (PH) tips in several tip sizes and shaft lengths; choose the model from the model selector on the product page.
What does CrV 6150 mean? Chrome vanadium alloy steel whose composition is defined by the steel designation 6150; it is a common alloy for screwdriver shafts because of its toughness.
How strong is the magnet in the tip? The magnet holds an ordinary steel screw on the tip in a vertical position, but it will not hold long or heavy screws horizontally.
Can the screwdriver be used for electrical work? No. Live work requires a VDE-insulated screwdriver, with the shaft insulated except for the tip.
How do I clean the magnetic tip? Wipe off metal dust with a dry cloth; the magnet collects swarf that stops the tip seating in the slot.
Recycling instructions:
Sort a screwdriver at the end of its life: the steel shaft goes to metal collection and the polypropylene handle to plastic collection if the handle can be removed; otherwise take the whole screwdriver to metal collection. Cover the tip before disposal.
