Description
Blue Dolphin double-sided foam tape is a versatile, effective fixing solution designed to replace traditional mechanical fasteners, such as screws, nails and rivets, in many installations. The core of the tape is a flexible foam body coated on both sides with a very strong adhesive. This construction gives the tape its unique ability to fill gaps and conform to small unevenness in surfaces, which allows reliable adhesion even on rougher surfaces where thin film tapes would not work.
The product is an excellent choice for finishing and quick installation. The foam body not only fixes but also acts as a shock absorber, reducing vibration and noise between the joined parts. This makes it suitable, for example, for fixing signs, light mirrors, cable trunking and various holders. The tape gives immediate initial adhesion, which speeds up work on installation jobs.
The tape is 19 mm wide and the roll contains 5 metres, which is a handy size for most common installation needs. It is neat and safe to use and needs no tools apart from cutting. The foam tape is suitable for most solid, clean and dry surfaces, such as plastic, metal, glass, treated wood and ceramic tiles.
Intended use:
- Fixing mirrors and glass: Suitable for installing light mirrors and glass elements on flat surfaces. The foam evens out unevenness in the surface and spreads the load more evenly, which is important when fixing fragile materials such as mirrors. It holds the item securely in place without drilling.
- Installing signs: Ideal for fixing name plates, warning signs and other signs to doors and walls. The tape gives a quick, permanent fixing without having to make holes in the mounting surface. The foam construction helps the sign stay on even on slightly rougher wall surfaces.
- Fixing trims and profiles: Used for installing various decorative trims, cable trunking and corner guards. The flexible tape follows the surface and makes sure the trims stay straight and firmly attached to the substrate. It is a quick alternative to adhesive compounds in lighter installations.
- Fixing interior elements: For installing hooks, holders and other small interior accessories. Lets you fix items to tiles or furniture panels without breaking the surfaces, which is particularly useful in rented premises or places where drilling is risky (e.g. waterproofing).

Blue Dolphin double-sided tape instructions for use:
Careful preparation is a precondition for a successful fixing. Make sure both surfaces to be fixed are completely clean, dry and grease-free. Clean the surfaces with spirit or a suitable cleaner and let them dry completely. Dust or moisture significantly weakens the adhesion of the adhesive.
Cut pieces of tape to the required length. Do not touch the adhesive surface with your fingers, as skin grease weakens the hold. First attach the pieces of tape to the back of the item to be fixed (e.g. behind a sign), pressing them firmly against the surface. Spread the tape evenly so that the load is distributed over the whole area.
Remove the liner from the other side of the tape only just before final fixing. Place the item in the required position and press firmly over the whole area for at least 10–15 seconds. The adhesive typically reaches its final strength within 24 hours, so avoid putting a heavy load on the joint straight after installation.
Warnings:
- Permanent fixing: This tape is intended for permanent installation. It can be difficult to remove and may leave marks or damage delicate surfaces (such as wallpaper or painted plasterboard) when removed.
- Load limits: Do not use the tape to hang heavy items overhead or to fix valuables without a backup fixing. Take into account the weight of the item to be fixed in relation to the amount of tape.
- Operating temperature: Apply the tape at room temperature (+10°C – +30°C). At too cold an application temperature the adhesive does not activate properly.
- Surface strength: Make sure the substrate (e.g. paint or render) is strong enough to carry the weight of the item to be fixed. The tape holds, but a weak substrate can fail.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can this tape be used to fix a mirror in a bathroom?
The tape is suitable for fixing light mirrors to tiled surfaces. However, make sure the room is dry at the time of installation and that the tape is not in constant direct contact with water. For heavier mirrors, an additional mechanical fixing or a special mirror adhesive is always recommended.
How do I get foam tape off?
As the fixing is strong, removal may need mechanical work. Often the tape has to be carefully cut through between the item and the wall, for example with fishing line or a thin knife. The remaining foam and adhesive can be removed by rubbing (so-called “rolling” with a finger) or using an adhesive remover, if the surface withstands chemicals.
Does the tape even out unevenness in the wall?
Yes, the foam construction of the tape is flexible and thick, so it can fill small gaps and conform to slightly rough or uneven surfaces (such as textured tiles or wood), giving better adhesion than thin tapes.
Recycling instructions:
The product itself: Used tape and liner are sorted as mixed waste (or energy waste according to local rules).
Packaging: The cardboard part of the packaging is sorted for cardboard collection and the plastic part for plastic packaging collection.
