Description
Blue Dolphin Hybrid tape represents a new generation of masking tapes designed for demanding professional jobs. Its key innovation is the patent-pending hybrid backing. This advanced construction combines the best sides of traditional materials: it offers the mechanical durability and tear strength of plastic tape, yet is just as easy to tear by hand as a high-quality paper tape. This speeds up work and reduces waste on site.
The tape has a high-quality solvent-free acrylic adhesive , designed especially for smooth and semi-rough surfaces. The adhesive guarantees secure adhesion, but its most important property is clean removability. The tape offers excellent 14-day UV resistance , which means it can be left on the surface for up to two weeks both indoors and outdoors and still comes off without adhesive residue or damage to the surface. This makes it a very versatile solution for long projects.
The thin but durable construction of Blue Dolphin Hybrid tape is optimised to produce razor-sharp paint lines. It prevents paint from bleeding under the tape (so-called “paint bleed”), which is critical for a high-quality result, especially in masking work that requires precision. The product is suitable for use with many kinds of surface materials, including varnished wood surfaces, glass, plastic and vinyl.
Intended use:
-
Demanding interior and exterior painting This tape is an ideal choice for jobs where the masking has to withstand changing conditions for a longer time. Its 14-day UV and weather resistance lets you do the masking well before painting and leave it in place over several work stages. It withstands sunlight, moisture and temperature changes in outdoor projects without the adhesive “baking on” to the substrate.
-
Protecting smooth and delicate surfaces The adhesive of the hybrid tape is formulated to give sufficient hold without excessive aggressiveness. It is excellent for use on surfaces that are sensitive to damage on removal, such as varnished or painted wooden trims, glass surfaces, various plastics and vinyl coverings. The tape reliably protects the surface from paint splashes and mechanical stress during work.
-
Precise masking and effect painting When you want a perfectly straight, sharp paint line, Blue Dolphin Hybrid is the right choice. Its thin profile and excellent edge conformity stop paint creeping under the tape. This makes it an excellent tool for two-colour painting, decorative stripes and other masking work that requires precision, where the quality of the result is of primary importance.

Instructions for use:
Preparation: Make sure the surface to be taped is completely clean, dry and free of dust, grease, oil or other impurities. Impurities on the surface weaken the adhesion of the adhesive and can cause paint to bleed under the tape.
Application: Apply the tape evenly to the required area. Press the tape firmly onto the surface across its whole width, paying particular attention to the edges of the tape. This ensures tight contact with the substrate and stops paint getting under the tape, guaranteeing sharp lines. The tape is easy to tear by hand. For the best result, application should be done at temperatures between +18°C and +25°C.
Removal: The tape should be removed as soon as the paint is touch dry but not yet fully cured. This prevents the paint film from tearing at the masking line. Remove the tape by pulling it calmly and evenly at an angle of about 45 degrees to the painted surface. Make sure the tape is removed no later than 14 days after application to ensure a result free of adhesive residue.
Storage: Store the tape in its original packaging in a dry, cool place, protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, so that its properties stay unchanged. The recommended storage temperature is no more than +21°C at a relative humidity of 50%.
Warnings:
-
Although the tape is designed to come off cleanly, always test it first on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it is compatible with the substrate, especially on delicate or specially treated surfaces.
-
Do not exceed the maximum use time of 14 days, especially outdoors or in direct sunlight, to avoid possible removal problems.
-
Make sure the temperature of the application surface is within the recommended range (+18°C … +25°C) to guarantee optimal adhesion; a surface that is too cold or hot can affect how the adhesive works.
-
The tape is not intended for fixing heavy items or for structural use.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What does “hybrid tape” mean?
Hybrid tape means that the backing of the product combines the properties of different materials. In the case of Blue Dolphin, it means a tape that has the durability and flexibility of plastic tape but is still easy to tear by hand like paper tape.
Can this tape be used outdoors in the rain?
The tape is weather resistant and withstands moisture and UV radiation for up to 14 days. However, it should be applied to a dry surface. Although it withstands weather conditions after application, it is not intended to be immersed in water or used in constantly wet conditions.
Which surfaces is this tape best suited for?
Blue Dolphin Hybrid is optimised for smooth and semi-rough surfaces. It works excellently, for example, on varnished wood, glass, vinyl, plastic and smooth painted wall surfaces, where sharp masking and clean removal are needed.
Recycling instructions:
-
Tape: Used tape contains adhesives and composite materials, so it should be disposed of as mixed waste. It cannot be recycled in paper or plastic collection.
-
Core: The cardboard core of the tape roll can be recycled in cardboard collection.
-
Packaging: Any plastic wrap is sorted for plastic collection and the packaging label for paper or cardboard collection depending on the material.
