Description
Blue Dolphin Utility duct tape is designed as a versatile general-purpose tape for the needs of industry, construction and maintenance. This “utility grade” tape gives reliable performance in ordinary repair and fixing applications without the cost of special tapes for heavy-duty use. The roll size is 48 mm x 50 m, which is the standard size in professional use and gives enough material for many tasks.
The adhesive is a pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber resin adhesive (Hotmelt), optimised for fast, secure adhesion. This construction makes the tape flexible and easy to shape to different surfaces.
The adhesive properties of the product have been developed to adhere effectively to many kinds of substrates. It is suitable for use on plastic, metal and smooth concrete. Thanks to its high initial adhesion (high tack), the tape attaches quickly to the item. The Blue Dolphin Utility tape is suitable both for indoor use within its operating temperature range (-5°C … +60°C), which makes it a versatile solution for the changing conditions on site.
One of the key user-friendly features of the tape is that it is easy to handle. The tape unwinds evenly from the roll and is effortlessly torn by hand across its width. This speeds up work considerably, as separate cutting tools are not needed, even in tight spots.
Intended use:
Blue Dolphin Utility duct tape is designed to serve a wide range of general uses in a professional environment:
-
General repairs and patching: The tape is excellent for temporary repairs, such as patching torn protective plastics, plugging small holes in ventilation ducts or quickly fixing other damaged surfaces on site. Its good adhesion to different materials makes it reliable first aid in many situations.
-
Bundling and wrapping: The product is commonly used for light bundling, such as tying cables, pipes or trims together for transport or storage. It can also be used for protective wrapping, for example to protect pipe ends from dirt during installation work.
-
Sealing and packing: The tape works effectively for sealing various seams and gaps, preventing dust or moisture from getting into structures. It can also be used to close and reinforce heavier cardboard boxes when the strength of packing tape is not enough.
-
Marking and colour coding: Thanks to its silver-grey colour, the tape can also be used for simple marking purposes on floors or equipment.

Blue Dolphin Utility tape instructions for use:
Before applying the tape, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust, grease, oil or other impurities. Dirt or moisture on the surface significantly weakens the adhesion of the adhesive. For the best adhesion, the tape should be applied at temperatures between +10°C and +40°C.
Unwind the amount of tape you need from the roll and tear it off by hand or cut it. Place the tape on the item and press it firmly onto the surface across its whole width. Pressing firmly activates the pressure-sensitive adhesive and ensures maximum contact with the substrate, which is particularly important on rough surfaces.
The product should be stored in its original packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight. The shelf life stated by the manufacturer is 12 months.
Warnings:
-
This is a general-purpose tape (utility grade). It is not recommended for applications that require extreme tensile strength, high heat resistance (over +60°C) or long-term immersion in water.
-
Always make sure the product is suitable for the intended use by testing it first on a small, inconspicuous area, especially if the surface material is delicate or unusual.
-
Do not use the tape in load-bearing structures or in applications where failure of the tape could cause a hazardous situation.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How does this differ from “Heavy Duty” duct tape?
Utility grade tape is designed for general use, and its thickness (0.13 mm) and tensile strength are typically lower than in tapes for heavy-duty use. It is a cost-effective solution for ordinary jobs, while heavier tape grades are recommended for more demanding applications.
Recycling instructions:
-
Tape: Used tape contains adhesives and composite materials, so it is sorted as mixed waste (combustible waste).
-
Core: The cardboard core of the tape roll is sorted for cardboard collection.
-
Packaging plastic: Any protective plastic is sorted for plastic collection.
