Description
Blue Dolphin masking tape 627 is a high-performance crepe paper-based tape developed especially for demanding professional use and industrial applications. The product is designed to give reliable protection and guarantee sharp, clean colour lines in many kinds of painting projects. Its advanced construction meets the high requirements of professional painters for both adhesion and removability.
At the core of the tape is a high-quality, impregnated crepe paper backing that gives excellent conformability. This lets the tape follow curved surfaces, corners and unevenness effortlessly, ensuring tight protection without paint bleed. The backing is strong enough to withstand tension during application without breaking, yet easy to tear by hand to speed up work.
Blue Dolphin 627 uses a high-grade natural rubber-based adhesive that gives medium, immediate adhesion to most common building surfaces. The adhesive is optimised to stay reliably in place during painting, yet it can still be removed cleanly without adhesive residue or damage to the surface. This balance between hold and removability is a critical factor in achieving a professional result.
The product is suitable for use with both modern water-based paints and traditional solvent-based paints and varnishes. The tape withstands the chemicals in paints well and does not let paint soak through the paper, which is a precondition for razor-sharp lines.
A significant advantage in professional use is the tape’s good heat resistance. Blue Dolphin 627 withstands temperatures of up to 80°C for 60 minutes, which allows it to be used on jobs where, for example, heat drying or light baking is used after painting. The tape also offers up to 14 days of clean removability indoors, giving flexibility in site schedules.
Intended use:
-
Demanding professional interior painting and masking This tape is an ideal choice for interior painting of residential and commercial premises where high quality and precision are required. It is excellent for protecting and masking walls, ceilings, trims, frames and furniture. The 14-day removal time lets you mask larger areas at once without fear of adhesive residue, even if the painting work takes several days. The crepe construction bends well, for example, to the shapes of skirting boards.
-
Industrial painting and light vehicle painting Thanks to its good heat resistance (80°C / 60 min), Blue Dolphin 627 is suitable for use in industrial environments and paint booths where raised drying temperatures are used. It can be used to protect various components, machine parts or non-critical vehicle surfaces in spray and brush painting, as long as the temperature limits are observed.
-
Versatile use on different surfaces The natural rubber adhesive of the product is designed to adhere reliably to many kinds of surfaces. These include, for example, fully dried paint surfaces, wood (treated and untreated), metal, glass, hard plastic and plasterboard. Medium adhesion ensures that the tape stays in place but does not damage the sound surface underneath when removed.
Package contents:

Blue Dolphin 627 instructions for use:
Surface preparation: Make sure the surface to be taped is clean, dry and dust-free. Remove all grease, oil or dirt from the surface with a suitable cleaner. If you are taping over a freshly painted surface, make sure the paint has fully cured (follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions on drying times). Damp or dirty surfaces significantly weaken the adhesion of the tape and can lead to paint bleed.
Applying the tape: Unroll the tape and place it in the required position. Press the tape firmly onto the surface along its whole length by running a finger or spatula over it. Take particular care along the edges of the tape to ensure a sharp paint line and stop paint getting under the tape. Thanks to the crepe paper, the tape can be stretched slightly on curves, but avoid stretching it too much so that it does not come loose later.
Painting: Paint over the taped area as normal. However, avoid “flooding” the edge of the tape with too much paint, as a thick layer of paint can make clean removal harder.
Removing the tape: For the best result, the tape should be removed as soon as the paint is touch dry, or at the latest within the 14-day removal time allowed for the product. Remove the tape by pulling it calmly and evenly at an angle of about 45 degrees away from the painted surface. If the tape seems to have stuck too firmly, warming it carefully, for example with a heat gun (on low heat), can make removal easier.
Storage: Store tape rolls in their original packaging in a dry, cool place, protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Optimal storage conditions guarantee that the adhesive keeps working.
Warnings:
-
Always test first: Although the tape is designed to come off cleanly, it is advisable to test the tape on a small, inconspicuous area before large-scale use, especially on a delicate surface, old paint, wallpaper or a special coating.
-
Removal time: Do not exceed the recommended 14-day removal time indoors. Tape left on for too long, especially when exposed to sunlight, can leave adhesive residue or be hard to remove.
-
Outdoor use: The 14-day removal time of the product is specified for indoor use. Outdoors, UV radiation and weather conditions can significantly shorten the safe use time of the tape.
-
Delicate surfaces: Take particular care when removing the tape from weak surfaces, such as poorly adhering paint or very thin wallpapers.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How long can Blue Dolphin 627 stay on a surface before removal?
Indoors, the tape can be left on surfaces for up to 14 days and still comes off cleanly without adhesive residue. Outdoors or in very hot conditions, the time may be shorter.
Is this tape suitable for water-based paints?
Yes, Blue Dolphin 627 is compatible with both modern water-based paints and traditional solvent-based paints. It withstands the moisture of paint well.
Does the tape withstand heat, for example in a paint booth?
Yes, the tape withstands temperatures of 80°C for 60 minutes, and briefly even higher temperatures, so it is suitable for use where light heat drying is used.
What kind of adhesive does this tape have?
The tape uses a high-quality solvent-based natural rubber adhesive, which gives an excellent balance between good adhesion and clean removability.
