Description
The EcoPoxy FlowCast® premium epoxy casting kit contains casting resin and hardener. FlowCast® casting resin is the only next-generation epoxy on the market that is bio-based and made from renewable raw materials. It is more environmentally friendly than traditional resins and cures to a crystal-clear, glass-like surface. Thanks to such a high-quality result, this casting resin can also be called liquid glass.
This epoxy casting kit is intended for hobbyists who do not want to compromise on quality, and for professionals and industry who value high quality and extreme colour saturation. Suitable for coating/filling wood, metal, concrete, stone, leather, paper and other materials.
Professional casting resin
FlowCast® is a high-performance commercial-grade casting resin that cures to a clear, UV-resistant, water-like epoxy. It is a 100% solids two-component epoxy with a long gel time. It has a low exothermic heat output and cures into a water-like solid mass that resists stress cracking. The perfect material for castings and transparent encapsulations, which highlights and magnifies the objects inside it. It can be cast and layered in layers up to 38 mm thick.
Crystal-clear result, with or without colour
EcoPoxy FlowCast® casting resin is thinner and clearer than ordinary casting resins. When the epoxy is combined with the hardener, it creates a crystal-clear, extremely durable surface. Suitable for castings up to 38mm thick, which can be layered. For the best result, a new pour is made after 24h. The mixture cures completely in 72 hours.
FlowCast® resin can be used on its own, giving a clear, glass-like result. If you wish, it can be coloured with colour pigments. EcoPoxy colour pigments are available as normal and metallic pigments. With colour pigments, and by combining them, the colour and patterns of the resin can be shaped almost without limit. The result can be enhanced even further by adding EcoPoxy glitter, which makes the resin sparkle.

Excellent bubble release and an almost odourless epoxy
The chemical composition of FlowCast® casting resin has been perfected. This gives it better bubble release than usual. The result is extremely clear and even, without distracting tiny microbubbles.
Thanks to its bio-based components, this casting resin is also almost completely odourless, which means it can be used even in poorly ventilated spaces.
The only bio-based casting resin on the market
FlowCast® is the only casting resin on the market based on natural raw materials. Its development has focused above all on environmental impact and natural ingredients. About 20% of the ingredients of this resin are made from bio-based renewable materials.

Casting epoxy
Tips for beginners
Used correctly, this product gives a professional result. Take your time and keep in mind the following common beginner problems when making epoxy castings.
- Always make sure your mixing container is completely clean and dry. Also make sure your measuring container is clean, dry and accurate. The mixing ratio of this product is 2:1 (2 parts resin, 1 part hardener) by volume. Even a small deviation from this ratio can leave the FlowCast resin soft or uneven.
- This product needs careful mixing, typically for 2–3 minutes. Avoid excessive whisking, as it may add air bubbles to the epoxy. 4L batches typically need a mixing time of 6–7 minutes. Beginners are not advised to mix batches of more than 4L at a time. We recommend starting with smaller 2L batches until you have become familiar with the mixing process and the product.
- When the components are combined and mixing begins, the mixture first turns white and cloudy. This means that the components have not yet mixed properly. Keep mixing until all the cloudy unevenness and white streaks have disappeared completely (typically a mixing time of about 2–3 minutes)
- While mixing, make sure you scrape the mixture stuck to the sides of the mixing container and to your mixing tool into the mix. If unmixed epoxy is left in the container or on the tool, it causes uneven wet spots in the result.
- When you pour the finished FlowCast mix, never scrape in the mix stuck to the sides of the mixing container. However carefully you mixed, the mix stuck to the sides always contains unevenness that causes uneven wet spots in the result.
Instructions for use of the product
Warning: Epoxy is a toxic mixture and is a strong sensitiser. Always wear protective gloves and clothing that resist the mixture, so that it does not come into contact with the skin. Always ensure good ventilation and use an active filter.
Calculating the volume: The amount of epoxy needed is found by multiplying the height, width and length of your casting. Use average lengths when measuring uneven sides. Although a FlowCast® casting does not shrink at all as it dries under normal conditions, we recommend adding about 5% to the calculated amount. This extra ensures that there is enough for the cracks and recesses in the wood, which are hard to account for in the volume calculation. Example: 61cm x 15.2cm x 3.8cm + 5% (x1.05) = 3700cm² (% 1000 = 3.7L)
Adheres: to wood, metal, concrete, granite, stainless steel, laminate, Formica, bamboo, leather, ceramics, fibreglass, plastic and many other materials.
Mixing instructions: In a clean, dry container, mix 2 parts epoxy and 1 part hardener thoroughly for about 5 minutes. Add colourant or metallic pigment and mix until completely even.
Using colour glitter: You can highlight your work by adding EcoPoxy colour glitter. As colour glitter is denser than the resin, it should be added to the mix only near the end of the open time of the FlowCast resin, typically about 8–12 hours after mixing and pouring. This ensures that the glitter pattern you want settles in place as the resin solidifies. Adding the glitter to the mix too early may make the glitter pattern sink or change shape. Check the glitter pattern about every 30 min while it settles to make sure it stays in place. If the glitter does not settle in place, repeat the mixing process until the mix has solidified enough and the glitter settles in place.
Step 1, pre-coating the objects: For pre-coating objects, we recommend using UVPoxy epoxy instead of FlowCast epoxy, as the very low exothermic reactivity of FlowCast epoxy makes it unsuitable for thin coatings. Pre-coating reduces the risk of air bubbles forming.
Brush a thin layer of UVPoxy resin on with a foam brush until the object being treated is completely sealed in it. This thin layer seals the pores of the object, which prevents air bubbles forming during the pour. Let the object dry for 4–8 hours between sealing and pouring. Keep in mind that pre-coating may reduce the bond between the pieces (adhesion), as in all cases the epoxy cannot soak deep into the surface or object, so it is not recommended in all cases.
Step 2, pouring: The work area must be clean, dry and free of dust and insects. Dirty and dusty surfaces can cause stains on the surfaces of the casting. FlowCast can be poured in layers 13–38 mm thick. The curing of the epoxy starts a chemical reaction that releases heat. For castings of more than 12L, it is advisable to use several layers/pours to avoid overheating. It is also advisable to use fans to blow away and cool the heat released by the curing reaction. You get the best adhesion between layers by waiting 48 hours between pouring the layers (when the previous layer has set but is still slightly tacky). If the previous layer is not tacky at all, sand it lightly with 220 grit sandpaper and then wipe it clean before the new layer. The epoxy may slowly fill small cracks and gaps in the object, which may lower the surface of the casting. So be ready to add epoxy if necessary.
Finishing: If you wish, you can finish your work with a surface treatment. Finishing the resin is no different from finishing wood, so you can freely choose the finishing product and method you want, or leave out the finish altogether. Suitable finishes include waxes, oils, lacquers or a resin suitable for thin coatings, such as EcoPoxy UVPoxy. Each finishing method highlights your work and your casting in a different way.
Cleaning tools: Acetone, thinner or isopropyl alcohol can be used to clean wet epoxy. Cured epoxy comes off a mixing container mechanically, for example, as the surface of the mixing container is smooth and the epoxy does not stick to it. Avoid using mixing containers with cured epoxy, especially when pouring the last layers, as small particles of cured epoxy may be left in the mixing container.
