Description
The Hansa float with handle is a light, durable tool designed for professional use, made of high-density polyurethane foam (PU). This “urethane float” is known for its rigid construction and excellent wear resistance, which makes it a long-lasting alternative to traditional wooden floats. The cell structure of the material makes the float completely waterproof; it does not absorb moisture from the mortar and does not swell or warp even when wet, which guarantees consistent performance throughout the work.
The product has an ergonomic handle cast into the body, which gives a firm, stable grip. The one-piece construction eliminates the risk of the handle coming loose even in hard use and makes the tool easy to clean, as there are no seams where mortar could collect. The working surface of the float is suitably coarse, which makes working the mortar more efficient and helps bring the binder to the surface for the result you want.
The Hansa float is a versatile tool suitable for working various mineral-based materials. Its light weight reduces strain on the user when working on large areas, while the rigidity of the material lets you apply enough pressure to level the surface. The product is available in different sizes for different jobs and uses.
Intended use:
- Rendering work: Ideal for floating base coats and finish coats of render. The urethane surface works well with both coarser and finer render mortar, helping to level the surface and create a key for the following coats.
- Finishing concrete surfaces: Used for floating and compacting fresh concrete surfaces, such as floor slabs or concrete repairs. Floating closes the pores of the surface and brings fines to the surface, creating a more durable and even result before the concrete finally hardens.
- Levelling compound work: Suitable for spreading and floating various wall and floor levelling compounds. The rigid float helps to even out irregularities and prepare the substrate for tiling or painting, for example.
Package contents:
- 1 pcs Hansa float with handle (selected size)
Features:
- Polyurethane material (PU): A very light but rigid material that does not absorb water, swell or warp due to moisture.
- Fixed handle: The handle integrated into the body is durable and ergonomic and eliminates the risk of joints loosening.
- Wear-resistant surface: The working surface withstands hard wear and keeps its floating properties for a long time.
- Easy to clean: The one-piece, seamless construction is quick to wash clean after use.
- Frost-resistant: The material does not become brittle easily, even in cold working conditions.

Instructions for use:
Use the Hansa float when the mortar or concrete has set to a suitable “leathery” state: the material should not be too wet, so it does not turn to slurry, but not too dry to work either. Move the float over the surface in circular movements with even pressure. This movement helps to fill the pores of the surface, level out irregularities and bring the fines to the surface. Keep floating until you reach the surface quality you want. If needed, the surface can be moistened lightly with water to make floating easier. Clean the tool immediately after use with water and a brush before the mortar has time to harden on it.
Warnings:
Although the tool itself is safe, mortar and concrete work always requires suitable personal protective equipment. Cement-based materials are alkaline and can irritate the skin and eyes; wear protective gloves and safety glasses while working. Do not expose the tool to open flame or very hot surfaces, as the polyurethane material can melt or catch fire at high temperatures.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is a urethane float better than a wooden float?
In many respects, yes. It is lighter and more resistant to wear, and it does not absorb water. This means it does not warp or crack because of moisture as wood does.
Does the float absorb water?
No. The float is made of closed-cell polyurethane, which is a completely waterproof material.
How do I choose the right size?
On larger surfaces, a big float speeds up the work and helps you make a straighter surface. Smaller sizes are better for tight spots and finishing details.
Recycling instructions:
The product is made of polyurethane plastic. At the end of its life, it can be disposed of as mixed waste in line with local waste management regulations. Try to clean off hardened concrete or mortar before disposal.
