Description
The Cox Chilton is a sturdy manual sealant gun designed for precise dispensing of standard-size 310 ml cartridges. At the centre of the product’s design is high performance relative to the force the user applies. The gun has a mechanical 12:1 thrust ratio, which means that pulling the trigger produces many times the force at the plunger. This feature, together with a maximum thrust of 2.5 kN (approx. 250 kg), makes it an excellent tool for applying high-viscosity, stiff compounds such as polyurethane adhesives and acrylics without hand fatigue.
The body is a so-called “skeleton”, an open frame. This welded steel construction makes the tool light to handle while keeping the frame rigid under pressure. The open design makes changing cartridges considerably easier and lets you read the type markings on the cartridge while it is fitted. Any splashes of compound are also easy to clean off the open frame. The Cox mechanism is known for its reliability and even feed, which helps achieve a neat result when sealing.
Intended use:
The product is suitable for a wide range of sealing and bonding work in construction and renovation:
- Sealing: Applying silicones and acrylic sealants in bathrooms, when sealing windows and in facade joints.
- Bonding: Dispensing construction adhesives and installation compounds when fitting trims and boards.
- Stiff compounds: Particularly suitable for compounds that need more thrust than traditional light guns produce.
Package contents:
The product is supplied ready to use:
- 1 pcs Cox Chilton caulking gun 310 ml
Features:
The Cox Chilton offers technical solutions that make daily work easier:
- 12:1 thrust ratio: Reduces the muscle power needed for dispensing, allowing long periods of work.
- 2.5 kN thrust: Enough force to extrude most construction chemicals, including stiff adhesive compounds.
- Welded frame: The open steel frame is light but does not twist under the thrust.
- Release mechanism: The thumb-operated release stops the flow of compound immediately and allows the plunger to be pulled back.
- Hook: An integrated hook at the end of the frame lets you hang the gun on scaffolding or ladders.
Technical specifications:
Exact technical data:
- Cartridge size: 310 ml (standard)
- Thrust ratio: 12:1
- Maximum force: 2.5 kN
- Frame: Painted steel (blue Cox colour)
- Mechanism: Manual
Cox caulking gun instructions for use:
Loading: Press the release plate at the back of the handle with your thumb and pull the plunger rod all the way back. Place an opened cartridge with the nozzle screwed on in the frame of the gun, nozzle first. Press the back of the cartridge into place.
Use: Squeeze the trigger calmly and evenly to apply the compound. Thanks to the 12:1 ratio, a small movement produces a large force. Move the gun along the joint at an even speed.
Stopping and changing: When you stop extruding, press the release plate immediately. This removes the pressure from the cartridge and stops the compound running (“after-flow”). Pull the rod back and remove the empty cartridge.
Warnings:
Note safety when handling the tool:
- Risk of pinching: Keep your fingers away from between the trigger mechanism and the plunger rod during use.
- Releasing pressure: Always remember to release the pressure before removing the cartridge, so that the compound does not splash.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is this suitable for chemical anchor?
The 2.5 kN force is enough for light chemical compounds and silicones. Very heavy 2-component anchoring compounds may need a heavier gun with an 18:1 or 25:1 thrust ratio.
Does the gun have an automatic anti-drip function?
In this model, the pressure is released manually by pressing the thumb plate. This gives the user full control of the pressure.
Recycling instructions:
The product is mainly metal:
- Frame and mechanism: Can be recycled in metal collection.
- Any plastic parts: Energy waste.
