Description
The Kress power bit set 32-piece is a set of screwdriver bits made of S2 tool steel. The set covers the five most common bit profiles, PH, PZ, slotted, hex and Torx, as well as a Torx model with a centre hole for tamper-proof screws. An adapter, a magnetic bit holder and a storage case are included.
S2 is an alloyed tool steel intended specifically for screwdriver bits. Its combination of hardness and toughness means that the bit withstands torque without breaking and the edges of the profile wear more slowly than on bits made of softer steel. A bit that twists or rounds off also rounds off the screw head, so the durability of the bit directly affects how the work progresses.
The magnetic bit holder holds the bit in place and grips the steel screw, so you can put the screw in place with one hand. This makes a decisive difference in overhead installations and tight recesses where a dropped screw cannot be recovered. The adapter transfers the bits from the hex holder to other tool holders.
The bits have hex shanks and fit a cordless screwdriver, a drill bit holder and a manual bit handle. The case keeps the bits in order by size, so the right profile is found without sorting. A wider range of bits in a belt-mounted case is the Procat power bit set 22-piece with belt loop.
Intended use and suitability:
The set covers the most common screw heads, so the same case serves most fixing jobs.
- Furniture installation: assembling furniture and shelving systems, where PZ and hex bits are the most common.
- Construction and installation work: fixing trims, fittings and hardware and adjusting doors and windows.
- Appliance servicing: dismantling household appliances and small machines, where Torx profiles are needed.
- Tamper-proof screws: Torx bits with a centre hole open screws that have a centre pin in the head.
- Vehicle servicing: interior and body fasteners, where Torx and hex are predominant.
Package contents:

Kress power bit set 32-piece instructions for use:
Choosing the bit: choose the profile and size according to the screw head. The right bit fills the recess of the head without play; a bit that is too small rounds off the head the first time torque is applied.
Fitting: push the bit into the magnetic bit holder and the holder into the chuck of the screwdriver. The adapter is used when the bit is fitted to a holder other than a hex holder.
Driving: keep the tool in line with the screw axis. A bit at an angle loads the edges of the profile unevenly and slips. Start at a low speed until the screw bites, and set the torque on the tool to suit the material.
Monitoring wear: check the edges of the bit regularly. A rounded or chipped bit should be replaced immediately: a worn bit damages the screw head.
Maintenance: wipe the bits after use and store them in the case in a dry place. Moisture rusts the bits, and rust reduces the profile dimensions.
Warnings:
- Wear safety glasses: the bit or screw head can chip and throw out fragments.
- Do not use a bit of the wrong size or profile: the bit slips and the head rounds off.
- Do not use a damaged, twisted or broken bit.
- The torque peaks of an impact driver load the bit differently from steady torque; use bits intended for impact drivers in an impact driver.
- Do not work near live cables or equipment; the bits are metal and not insulated.
- Keep the case closed and out of the reach of children; small bits are a swallowing and choking hazard.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What does S2 steel mean in a screwdriver bit? S2 is an alloyed tool steel intended for screwdriver bits, whose combination of hardness and toughness withstands torque without breaking.
What is the difference between PH and PZ bits? A Pozidriv head has extra grooves between the arms of the cross, which the corresponding edges of a PZ bit engage. A PH bit spins in a PZ head and rounds it off.
What are Torx bits with a centre hole used for? For tamper-proof screws that have a pin in the middle of the Torx head; an ordinary Torx bit does not go all the way into such a head.
Are the bits suitable for an impact driver? The bits have hex shanks and fit mechanically, but bits rated as impact-resistant are made separately for the torque peaks of impact drivers.
Why does the bit slip out of the screw? The most common reasons are the wrong profile or size, a worn bit and the tool being at an angle to the screw axis.
Is a bit holder included in the set? Yes, the set includes a magnetic bit holder and an adapter.
Recycling instructions:
Take steel bits, the adapter and the bit holder that are no longer used to metal collection. Sort the plastic storage case into plastic collection and the packaging cardboard into cardboard collection. Do not put the bits in mixed waste, because steel is a recyclable material.
