Description
The Procat sink plunger 140 mm is a classic, reliable tool for the maintenance needs of every home and property. This traditional drain plunger offers a fast, efficient and environmentally friendly solution for clearing blocked drains and pipes without harsh chemicals.
The working principle of the plunger is simple but highly effective: it is based on alternating suction and pressure, produced by pumping the flexible rubber cup over the drain opening. This back-and-forth suction and pressure movement loosens the material causing the blockage (such as hair, grease or food scraps) and gets it moving, so that the water can flow freely again.
The sturdy handle of the product is of optimal length (450 mm), which offers good reach and allows a powerful pumping movement in an ergonomic position. The generously sized 140 mm suction cup effectively covers most drain openings, ensuring tight contact and maximum suction.
Intended use:
The Procat sink plunger is designed to clear blockages in most household drains. It is very well suited to use in the following places:

- Bathroom washbasins and sinks: Effective for removing hair and soap residue.
- Shower and bath drains: Helps keep floor drains and bath drains flowing.
- Toilets: Can be used to clear lighter blockages (note: make sure the cup covers the opening tightly).

Instructions for use:
1. If there is no water in the drain, run enough water to cover the rubber cup of the plunger. This improves the seal and suction.
2. Place the rubber cup of the plunger over the blocked drain opening so that it covers the opening completely and tightly.
3. Push the plunger down calmly but firmly, then pull it up quickly, without letting the cup come off the drain opening.
4. Repeat this pumping movement several times in a row until the blockage loosens and the water starts to flow normally.
5. Finally, flush the drain with plenty of hot water to make sure all the loosened dirt is washed away.
Warnings:
- Do not use with chemicals: If you have just used a chemical drain cleaner, do not use the plunger straight afterwards. Chemicals can splash onto your skin or into your eyes during pumping.
- Risk of splashes: Water can splash when pumping. Protect your eyes and the surroundings if needed.
- Excessive force: Avoid using excessive force, especially in old pipework, so that pipe joints are not damaged.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Does this work in a toilet bowl?
Yes, the plunger can also be used to clear toilet blockages. Make sure the rubber cup is large enough to cover the toilet’s drain opening tightly for the best effect.
Why does the plunger not seem to work?
The most common reason is that the cup is not tightly over the drain opening or there is not enough water in the sink. Make sure the cup is covered by water and that the overflow of the kitchen/bathroom sink is covered (e.g. with a wet cloth) while pumping, so that suction can build up.
Can the plunger damage the pipes?
In normal use, the plunger is safe for pipes. However, avoid extremely hard force, especially in very old or fragile pipework.
Recycling instructions:
At the end of the product’s life, the parts can usually be recycled by material. The wooden handle can be disposed of as energy waste or wood waste and the rubber cup as mixed waste, unless the local waste management instructs otherwise. Always check local recycling instructions.
