Description
The BGS tweezers set contains four chrome-plated tweezers with lengths of 105–120 mm. The set covers four different tip shapes for picking up small parts even in tight spots and out of sight.
The set includes straight-tip, bent (angled-tip), flat-tip and self-closing straight-tip tweezers. The straight tip is the general-purpose model, the bent tip reaches behind an obstacle and keeps your hand out of the line of sight, the flat tip grips the part over a wide area without pinching it at one point, and the self-closing tweezers hold their grip without constant squeezing.
Chrome plating protects the steel arms from corrosion and makes the surface easy to clean. The arms of the tweezers are sprung to the open position, and the gripping force is controlled by squeezing with your fingers; the self-closing model works the other way round: squeezing the arms opens the tips and releasing them closes the tips.
The set is used in electronics work, precision mechanics, model making, handling jewellery and watch parts, and removing splinters. The 105–120 mm length class suits both bench work and a tool bag.
Uses and suitability:
Tweezers are used to handle parts that are too small for fingers or that should not be touched with bare hands.
- Electronics: placing surface-mount components, wires and heat-shrink sleeves when soldering.
- Precision mechanics and watches: handling screws, springs and washers during assembly.
- Model making and scale models: gluing parts and positioning decals.
- Jewellery and beadwork: handling clasps, rings and beads.
- Splinters and slivers: removing a foreign object from the skin with pointed tweezers.
- Cleaning and maintenance: removing lint, chips and debris from the bottom of housings and grooves.
Package contents:
- 1 straight-tip tweezers
- 1 bent (angled-tip) tweezers
- 1 flat-tip tweezers
- 1 self-closing straight-tip tweezers
Features:
- Four tip shapes: straight, bent, flat and self-closing; one set covers the most common grips.
- Chrome-plated surface: protects against corrosion and is easy to wipe clean.
- Length 105–120 mm: enough reach into a housing without the tool blocking your view.
- Self-closing model: holds the part without squeezing, which frees your other hand.
- Bent tip: reaches behind an obstacle and keeps your hand out of the line of sight.
- Flat tip: grips over a wide area and leaves no indentation in a soft part.
Technical specifications:
- Pieces: 4 pcs.
- Length: 105–120 mm.
- Tip shapes: straight, bent, flat, self-closing straight.
- Surface finish: chrome-plated.
- Operation: spring arms; reverse action on the self-closing model.
BGS tweezers set instructions for use:
Choosing the tweezers: Choose the straight tip for an object in a straight line, the bent tip for behind an obstacle or when you look straight down, the flat tip for a soft or flat part, and the self-closing tweezers when the part has to be held in place for a longer time.
Use: Hold the arms lightly in the middle and squeeze only enough for the tips to touch the part. Too much pressure makes the tips cross, so the grip slips. With the self-closing model, squeeze the arms open, place the tips around the part and release.
Tip alignment: Check the alignment of the tips against the light. Bent tips are straightened carefully with your fingers or with a fine file on the tip faces, not the sides.
Care: Wipe the tips after use, especially after flux and glue. Store the tweezers separately with the tips protected; among other tools the tips get bent.
Warnings:
- The tips are sharp and cause puncture wounds. Point the tips away from your hands and face.
- The tweezers are not insulated. Do not use them on live circuits.
- Do not use the tweezers as a lever, a screwdriver or to pull nails; the arms bend permanently.
- When removing a splinter or sliver, clean the tips and the skin before and after; an object left deep in the skin needs medical treatment.
- The chrome-plated surface does not withstand acids or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets; the sharp tips and small size are a hazard.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which tweezers does the BGS tweezers set contain? Straight-tip, bent, flat-tip and self-closing straight-tip tweezers. The lengths are 105–120 mm.
How do self-closing tweezers work? At rest, the tips are closed. Squeezing the arms opens the tips, and releasing the pressure closes them, so the part stays gripped without hand force.
Are the tweezers magnetic? The chrome-plated steel body can usually be magnetised. A magnetised tip picks up small steel parts and can be demagnetised with a demagnetiser.
Are the tweezers suitable for electronics work? Yes, for handling parts. The tweezers are not insulated and must not be used on live circuits, and ESD-marked tweezers are used for ESD-sensitive work.
Why does the grip slip? The most common reason is squeezing too hard, which makes the tips cross. A lighter grip and checking the tip alignment fix this.
Can the tweezers be washed? The tips are wiped after use. The chrome-plated surface does not withstand acids or abrasive cleaners.
Recycling instructions:
Tweezers that are no longer used are made of chrome-plated steel and are sorted whole into metal collection. Protect the sharp tips before disposal. The cardboard and blister packaging is sorted into cardboard and plastic collection.
