Description
The Procat street broom is a brush head designed for mechanical removal of dirt, with a nominal working width of 30 cm. The product consists of a wooden body and synthetic bristles, and it needs a separate broom handle to work. The centre of gravity and profile of the broom are designed so that it moves heavier particles efficiently on flat and slightly uneven surfaces.
The body is made of untreated solid wood with a milled bevelled edge and a drilled fixing hole for the handle. The diameter of the handle hole is 22 mm. The hole is angled to give an ergonomic sweeping angle when the handle is fitted.
The bristles are made of synthetic nylon, which resists mechanical abrasion and repels water. The nylon bristles are set into the wooden body in four straight rows. This 4-row construction ensures that the bristle mass stays dense under stress, which stops coarser material escaping between the bristles during the pulling stroke.
The mechanical properties of the product make it primarily a tool for outdoor use. The weather resistance of nylon lets you store and use the broom in damp conditions, as long as the wooden body can dry out between uses. The broom is supplied without a handle, so you can choose a handle of the length and material you want with a 22 mm end.
Intended use and suitability:
- Cleaning asphalt and concrete surfaces: The 4-row nylon bristles efficiently move sand, gravel and loose stones on rough surfaces without the bristles catching on the surface.
- Rough cleaning on construction sites: Sweeping construction debris, such as demolition waste and coarse concrete dust, before surfaces are finished or washed.
- Outdoor areas in property maintenance: Removing leaves, litter and winter grit from yards and walkways. The water-repellent nylon also works for moving wet material.
Package contents:
- 1 pc Procat street broom head (30 cm, 4-row nylon, with 22 mm hole).
Features:
- 4-row nylon bristles: Guarantee a stiff, dense contact surface, which improves the ability to move coarse material in one stroke.
- 22 mm fixing hole: The standard-size mounting hole lets you use the most common wooden and aluminium handles on the market.
- Solid wood body: Absorbs impacts and gives the bristles a firm anchorage, reducing bristle tufts coming loose under stress.

Procat street broom 30 cm instructions for use:
- Make sure the diameter of the broom handle to be fitted is exactly 22 mm.
- Push the handle all the way into the angled hole in the wooden body of the broom. If necessary, for heavier use, the handle can be fixed mechanically by driving a small nail or screw through the body into the handle.
- Use the broom with pulling or pushing movements on the surface to be swept.
- After use, clean the bristles by tapping the broom lightly against a hard surface to remove loose dirt.
- Store the broom upright with the handle down or hanging up, so that the bristles do not bend under the weight of the broom. Store in a dry, ventilated place to stop the wooden body rotting.
Warnings:
- Mechanical hazard: If the broom handle is not fitted tightly enough, the brush head can come off during a strong sweeping movement.
- Dust hazard: Sweeping dry, fine material outdoors raises particles into the air. If necessary, wear a respirator (e.g. FFP2/FFP3) and safety glasses.
- Heat hazard: The nylon bristles can melt if you try to sweep hot ash with the broom or if it is stored in direct contact with a hot surface.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
- Does a threaded handle fit this broom? No, the wooden body of the broom has a smooth 22 mm hole. A threaded handle needs either a thread adapter or a dedicated threaded fitting.
- How do I stop the bristles bending in long-term storage? The broom should never be stored so that its weight rests on the bristles. Hang the broom by the handle or turn it upside down.
- Do the nylon bristles withstand detergents? Nylon withstands most neutral and mildly alkaline cleaners, but strong solvents or acids should be avoided to stop the material becoming brittle.
Recycling instructions:
Instructions for recycling the product packaging and the product itself.
- Wooden body: Can be disposed of with wood waste or energy waste, if cleanliness rules allow this in local waste management.
- Nylon bristles: Removed bristles are sorted as energy waste or mixed waste. The product as a whole is usually sorted as mixed waste or energy waste according to local rules.
- Packaging: The cardboard product label is sorted for cardboard collection.
