Description
The Procat 20×40 HCS multi-tool blade is a narrow, straight plunge-cut blade for oscillating multi-tools. The cutting width is 20 mm, the blade length 40 mm and the tooth pitch 1.4 mm. The blade material is HCS/SK5 steel, intended for cutting soft wood materials.
The narrow blade starts the cut with a small contact area, so plunge cuts work in tight spots and it is easier to guide the blade along an accurate line than with a wide blade. The narrow width also reduces cutting resistance, so the tool can feed the blade steadily through a skirting board or panel.
The fitting is OIS UNIVERSAL, which fits the blade holders of most multi-tool brands, such as Ryobi, AEG, Black & Decker, Bosch, Craftsman, Dremel, Einhell, Fein, Mastercraft, Milwaukee, Rigid, Rockwell and Skil. The blade is set in the holder at the angle you need, so the same blade works in both straight and tilted working positions.
A wider equivalent in the same HCS material is the Procat multi-tool blade 34 x 40 mm HCS for wood. Where there are nails or screws at the cutting point, the bimetal blades in the range, Procat multi-tool blade 34 x 40 mm BIM wood and metal and Procat multi-tool blade 44 x 45 mm BIM wood and metal , stand up better to contact with metal. For removing sealant and adhesive, use the Procat multi-tool knife blade 28 x 50 mm HCS.
Intended use and suitability:
Plunge cuts and cut-offs in soft wood materials with an oscillating multi-tool. Not intended for working metal, stone or concrete.
- Plunge cutting: the blade is plunged into an intact surface without pre-drilling, for example for a marked-out opening in a floorboard or panel.
- Skirting and frames: cutting a skirting board or door architrave in place, flush with the floor.
- Tight spots: the narrow blade fits between cabinets, pipes and studs where a wider blade cannot reach.
- Fitting cuts: final trimming of softwood, plywood and MDF board during installation.
Package contents:
- 1 x Procat multi-tool blade 20 x 40 mm HCS for wood
Features:
- HCS/SK5 steel: carbon steel stays sharp in soft wood and is a cheaper wear part than a bimetal blade.
- 20 mm cutting width: the small contact area makes it easier to start a plunge cut and guide it accurately.
- 1.4 mm tooth pitch: the fairly coarse pitch clears chips efficiently and keeps the kerf open in wood.
- Straight blade: the cutting line stays straight, so the cut-off point is easy to measure.
- OIS UNIVERSAL fitting: compatible with the blade holders of most multi-tool brands.
Technical specifications:
- Cutting width: 20 mm.
- Blade length: 40 mm.
- Tooth pitch: 1.4 mm.

Procat 20×40 HCS multi-tool blade instructions for use:
Fitting and using the blade: Switch off the tool and remove the battery or unplug it. Fit the blade in the holder with the teeth facing the working direction and tighten the fitting. Start a plunge cut by tilting the tool to an angle of about 45 degrees, start the tool before contact and gradually turn the blade until it is at right angles to the surface. Feed with light pressure and let the oscillation do the work; too much pressure heats the carbon steel and dulls the teeth.
Care and replacement: Clear sawdust from between the teeth after use and check the teeth. When the cutting speed drops or the blade starts to smoke in the wood, the blade has reached the end of its life and should be replaced.
Warnings:
- Before each use, check that the blade is undamaged and the fitting is tight. A loose blade can come off during use.
- The blade is not suitable for cutting metal: hitting a nail or screw will break the carbon steel teeth.
- Wear safety glasses and ear defenders. The blade and workpiece get hot during cutting.
- Before a plunge cut, make sure there are no electrical cables or pipes along the cutting line.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What materials is the Procat 20×40 HCS multi-tool blade suitable for? Soft wood materials, plywood and board materials. HCS/SK5 steel does not stand up to cutting metal.
Does the blade fit other brands of multi-tool? The fitting is OIS UNIVERSAL, which fits the blade holders of most brands. Check your tool’s blade holder type before buying.
When should I choose the 34 mm wide blade? When the piece to be cut is wide and the cut is made in open space. The 20 mm blade is better in tight spots and for accurate plunge cuts.
What does a 1.4 mm tooth pitch mean? The spacing between the teeth is 1.4 mm. A coarser pitch clears chips faster in wood; a finer pitch leaves a smoother cut in hard materials.
Can the blade be sharpened? A multi-tool blade is a wear part and is not sharpened; replace a dull blade with a new one.
Recycling instructions:
A used Procat 20×40 HCS multi-tool blade is metal and goes to metal collection. Cover the teeth before disposal so that they do not pose a risk of cuts. Sort the cardboard packaging into carton collection.
