Description

Rema Tip Top repair kit S is a repair kit for bicycle inner tubes based on cold vulcanisation. The kit includes 6 round F1 patches with a diameter of approx. 25 mm, 1 oval F2 patch of approx. 50 × 25 mm, 5 g of vulcanising solution, a scuffer and a storage box. The model identifier is TT02.

In cold vulcanisation, the vulcanising solution dissolves the rubber surface of the roughened inner tube and the bonding layer of the patch. Once the solvent has evaporated, the rubber molecules bond to each other at room temperature, so the patch becomes part of the tube instead of a separate glued joint. For this reason, the repaired spot stretches and recovers together with the tube.

The patches are multi-layered and have a feathered edge. The thin edge stops the patch from rubbing against the tyre and spreads the stretching of the tube evenly over the whole patch area. With two patch sizes, the kit repairs both punctures and short cuts. Companion kits for larger tyres are Rema Tip Top repair kit L, cars and large tyres and Rema Tip Top repair kit XL, cars and trucks.

The kit is packed in a hard plastic box that protects the patches and the solution tube from moisture and crushing. The package weighs 25 g, so it fits in a saddle bag or toolbox. The kit is suitable for butyl and natural rubber inner tubes; it is not used for repairing tubeless tyres.

Intended use and suitability:

The kit repairs a puncture or a short cut in an inflatable rubber inner tube by vulcanising a patch over it when the inner tube does not need replacing.

  • Bicycle inner tubes: punctures in road, mountain and city bike inner tubes; an F1 patch is enough for the hole left by a needle, thorn or glass shard.
  • Short cuts: the oval F2 patch covers elongated damage that a round patch cannot cover with the required margins.
  • Small inflatable tyres: inner tubes of prams, kick scooters, sack trucks and garden carts, using the same method.
  • Portable repair kit: the box fits in a saddle bag and allows a repair on the road without a spare inner tube.
  • Refill supply for a service point: a kit with several patches covers consecutive repairs without separate patches and solution.

Rema Tip Top repair kit S instructions for use:

1. Locating the leak: Remove the inner tube, inflate it and submerge it in water or listen for the leak. Mark the leak and dry the inner tube thoroughly.

2. Choosing the patch: Choose a patch that extends at least 10 mm beyond every edge of the damage. The round F1 suits a puncture, the oval F2 a short cut.

3. Roughening: Roughen the area around the damage with the scuffer, over an area slightly larger than the patch, until the surface gloss is gone. Wipe off the dust with a dry cloth; do not touch the roughened surface with your fingers.

4. Vulcanising solution: Apply a thin, even layer of solution to the roughened area. Close the tube immediately. Let the solution dry for at least 5 minutes, until the surface is matt and does not stick to your finger.

5. Fitting the patch: Remove the protective film from the underside of the patch without touching the bonding surface. Place the patch over the centre of the damage and press it down from the centre towards the edges to push out the air. Press firmly for a few seconds.

6. Top film: The transparent top film can be left in place or removed by pulling it carefully from the centre outwards. Do not lift the edge of the patch when removing the film.

7. Checking and assembly: Inflate the inner tube lightly and check that it is airtight in water or soapy water. Refit the inner tube, taking care not to fold the patch, and inflate the tyre to its operating pressure.

Storage: Close the solution tube tightly immediately after use and store the box in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and open flames.

Warnings:

  • The vulcanising solution is a flammable liquid. Its vapour ignites from a spark or open flame: remove ignition sources from the work area and do not smoke during the repair.
  • The solution irritates the skin and severely irritates the eyes. Wear protective gloves and eye protection; rinse splashes in the eyes with plenty of water for several minutes and seek medical attention.
  • Inhaling the vapour may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Work only in a well-ventilated area. The vapour is heavier than air and collects at floor level and in service pits.
  • The solution is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Do not let it enter drains, soil or watercourses.
  • Keep the kit and an opened tube out of the reach of children and pets. Small parts and protective films are a choking hazard.
  • The kit is not used for repairing tubeless tyres, large tears, damage at the valve base or cuts that extend to the sidewall; in these cases, replace the inner tube.
  • Insufficient roughening, too thick a layer of solution, a shortened drying time or an air bubble under the patch can cause the repair to fail while riding.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

What does the kit contain? Six round F1 patches with a diameter of approx. 25 mm, one oval F2 patch of approx. 50 × 25 mm, 5 g of vulcanising solution, a scuffer and a storage box.

How long should the vulcanising solution dry before the patch is fitted? At least 5 minutes, until the surface is matt and does not stick to your finger. A wet layer prevents the rubber bond from forming.

Why does the patch come off? The most common reasons are insufficient roughening, dust left on the surface, a layer of solution that is too thick or not yet dry, an air bubble under the patch or a patch that is too small for the damage.

Is the kit suitable for tubeless tyres? No. A cold-vulcanising inner tube patch is intended for the inner surface of an inflatable inner tube. A tubeless tyre is repaired with a plug or a mushroom patch.

Can the kit be used on a latex inner tube? The patches and solution are intended for butyl and natural rubber inner tubes. For a latex inner tube, follow the tyre manufacturer’s instructions.

How long does an opened solution tube keep? The tube stays usable if the cap is closed tightly immediately after use and the tube is stored in a cool place. Do not use solution that has thickened or dried.

How large a damage can the kit repair? Damage that leaves a margin of at least 10 mm to the edge of the patch. For larger damage, use a larger patch kit, such as Rema Tip Top repair kit L, cars and large tyres.

Recycling instructions:

An empty, fully dried solution tube goes to metal collection. If there is solution left in the tube, take it to a hazardous waste collection point, not to mixed waste or down the drain. Sort the plastic storage box and the protective films of the patches into plastic collection and the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection. Unused patches keep in the box; they do not need to be disposed of separately.

Käyttötarkoitus

Ilmatäytteisten kumisten sisärenkaiden pistovaurioiden ja lyhyiden viiltojen korjaaminen kylmävulkanointimenetelmällä polkupyörissä sekä muissa pienissä ilmatäytteisissä renkaissa, kuten lastenvaunuissa, potkupyörissä ja nokkakärryissä. Tuotetta ei saa käyttää sisärenkaattomien eli tubeless-renkaiden paikkaamiseen, laajojen repeämien, venttiilin juuren vaurioiden tai renkaan kylkeen ulottuvien viiltojen korjaamiseen; näissä sisärengas vaihdetaan.

Lasten ja lemmikkien varoitukset

Ei lelu. Sarja sisältää vulkanointinesteen, joka on syttyvä sekä ärsyttää ihoa ja voimakkaasti silmiä. Pakkauksessa on pieniä osia ja suojakalvoja, jotka aiheuttavat tukehtumisvaaran pienille lapsille ja lemmikeille. Säilytä sarja ja avattu nestetuubi lasten ja lemmikkien ulottumattomissa ja pidä heidät poissa työalueelta korjauksen ajan.

Käyttöohje ja turvatiedot

Työskentele vain hyvin tuuletetussa tilassa ja käytä suojakäsineitä ja silmiensuojainta. Irrota sisärengas, paikanna vuoto, kuivaa ja puhdista alue. Valitse paikka, joka ulottuu vähintään 10 mm vaurion reunojen yli. Karhenna vauriokohdan ympäristö hieman paikkaa suuremmalta alalta ja pyyhi karhennuspöly pois. Levitä ohut kerros vulkanointinestettä ja anna sen kuivua vähintään 5 minuuttia mataksi ja kosketuskuivaksi. Poista paikan suojakalvo koskematta tartuntapintaan, aseta paikka keskelle vauriota ja paina se kiinni keskeltä reunoja kohti. Tarkista tiiviys ennen renkaan kokoamista. Sulje nestetuubi heti käytön jälkeen. Vältä höyryn hengittämistä sekä nesteen joutumista iholle ja silmiin; roiskeet silmiin huuhdellaan runsaalla vedellä usean minuutin ajan ja hakeudutaan lääkäriin. Nieltynä otetaan välittömästi yhteys lääkäriin tai Myrkytystietokeskukseen.

Toiminta ja suojatoimet

Vulkanointineste sisältää liuottimen ja kumiyhdisteen, jotka liuottavat karhennetun sisärenkaan kumin ja paikan sidoskerroksen pinnat. Liuottimen haihduttua kumimolekyylit sitoutuvat toisiinsa huoneenlämmössä, jolloin paikasta tulee osa rengasta eikä liimasauma. Paikan monikerrosrakenne jakaa renkaan venymisen tasaisesti ja ohennettu reuna estää paikkaa hankaamasta ulkorengasta vasten. Suojatoimet: tuuletettu työtila, suojakäsineet ja silmiensuojain, sytytyslähteiden poistaminen, ohut nestekerros ja vähintään 5 minuutin kuivumisaika, ilman poisto paikan alta painamalla keskeltä reunoille sekä tiiviyden tarkistus renkaan täytön jälkeen.

Ympäristöolosuhteet

Korjaus tehdään kuivassa, hyvin tuuletetussa tilassa huoneenlämmössä. Kylmässä liuottimen haihtuminen hidastuu ja kuivumisaika pitenee. Höyry on ilmaa raskaampaa ja kerääntyy lattiatasoon ja huoltokuiluun. Vulkanointineste on myrkyllistä vesieliöille ja sillä on pitkäaikaisia haittavaikutuksia: sitä ei päästetä viemäriin, maaperään eikä vesistöön. Säilytys viileässä ja hyvin tuuletetussa tilassa erillään lämmönlähteistä ja avotulesta.

Riskiarviot ja riskikartoitus

Tuote sisältää CLP-asetuksen mukaisesti vaaralliseksi luokitellun vulkanointinesteen. Palo- ja räjähdysvaara: syttyvä neste ja höyry sytytyslähteen lähellä tai ahtaassa tilassa. Terveysvaara: iho- ja silmä-ärsytys sekä uneliaisuus ja huimaus höyryä hengitettäessä. Ympäristövaara: myrkyllisyys vesieliöille. Korjauksen pettäminen: puutteellinen karhennus, liian paksu tai kuivumaton nestekerros, ilmakupla paikan alla tai väärä paikkakoko voi johtaa renkaan tyhjenemiseen ajossa. Käyttö väärään kohteeseen: tubeless-rengas tai laaja repeämä. Tukehtumisvaara: pienet osat ja suojakalvot lasten ulottuvilla. Avsedd användning

Reparation av punkteringar och korta skärskador i luftfyllda gummislangar med kallvulkanisering i cyklar samt i andra små luftfyllda däck, såsom barnvagnar, sparkcyklar och säckkärror. Produkten får inte användas för lagning av slanglösa (tubeless) däck, omfattande revor, skador vid ventilfästet eller skärskador som når däckets sidovägg; i dessa fall byts slangen.

Varningar för barn och husdjur

Ingen leksak. Satsen innehåller vulkaniseringsvätska som är brandfarlig och som irriterar hud och kraftigt ögon. Förpackningen innehåller smådelar och skyddsfilmer som innebär kvävningsrisk för små barn och husdjur. Förvara satsen och den öppnade tuben utom räckhåll för barn och husdjur och håll dem borta från arbetsområdet under reparationen.

Bruksanvisning och säkerhetsinformation

Arbeta endast i väl ventilerat utrymme och använd skyddshandskar och ögonskydd. Ta ut slangen, lokalisera läckan, torka och rengör området. Välj en lapp som når minst 10 mm utanför skadans kanter. Rugga upp området runt skadan något större än lappen och torka bort slipdammet. Stryk på ett tunt lager vulkaniseringsvätska och låt det torka minst 5 minuter tills ytan är matt och torr att beröra. Ta bort lappens skyddsfilm utan att röra vidhäftningsytan, placera lappen mitt över skadan och tryck fast den från mitten mot kanterna. Kontrollera tätheten innan däcket monteras. Förslut tuben omedelbart efter användning. Undvik att andas in ångor och att få vätska på hud och i ögon; skölj stänk i ögonen med rikligt med vatten i flera minuter och uppsök läkare. Vid förtäring kontakta omedelbart läkare eller Giftinformationscentralen.

Funktion och skyddsåtgärder

Vulkaniseringsvätskan innehåller lösningsmedel och gummiförening som löser upp ytan på det uppruggade slanggummit och lappens bindskikt. När lösningsmedlet avdunstat binder gummimolekylerna till varandra i rumstemperatur, varvid lappen blir en del av slangen och inte en limfog. Lappens flerskiktsstruktur fördelar slangens töjning jämnt och den avsmalnande kanten hindrar lappen från att skava mot ytterdäcket. Skyddsåtgärder: ventilerat arbetsutrymme, skyddshandskar och ögonskydd, avlägsnande av tändkällor, tunt vätskeskikt och minst 5 minuters torktid, utdrivning av luft genom tryck från mitten mot kanterna samt kontroll av tätheten efter uppumpning.

Miljöförhållanden

Reparationen görs i torrt, väl ventilerat utrymme i rumstemperatur. I kyla avdunstar lösningsmedlet långsammare och torktiden förlängs. Ångan är tyngre än luft och samlas vid golvnivå och i servicegropar. Vulkaniseringsvätskan är giftig för vattenlevande organismer med långtidseffekter: den får inte släppas ut i avlopp, mark eller vattendrag. Förvaring svalt och väl ventilerat, åtskilt från värmekällor och öppen låga.

Riskbedömning och riskkartläggning

Produkten innehåller en vulkaniseringsvätska som är klassificerad som farlig enligt CLP-förordningen. Brand- och explosionsrisk: brandfarlig vätska och ånga nära tändkällor eller i trånga utrymmen. Hälsorisk: hud- och ögonirritation samt dåsighet och yrsel vid inandning av ångor. Miljörisk: giftig för vattenlevande organismer. Bristande reparation: otillräcklig ruggning, för tjockt eller otorkat vätskeskikt, luftblåsa under lappen eller fel lappstorlek kan leda till att däcket tömms under körning. Användning i fel objekt: tubelessdäck eller omfattande reva. Kvävningsrisk: smådelar och skyddsfilmer inom räckhåll för barn. Riskerna hanteras med ventilation, personlig skyddsutrustning, avlägsnande av tändkällor, efterlevnad av arbetsmomenten och torktiden, rätt lappstorlek, täthetskontroll och förvaring utom räckhåll för barn.

Intended use

Repairing punctures and short cuts in air-filled rubber inner tubes by cold vulcanisation in bicycles and other small pneumatic tyres, such as prams, kick scooters and sack trucks. The product must not be used for patching tubeless tyres, or for repairing large tears, damage at the valve base or cuts extending to the tyre sidewall; in these cases the inner tube is replaced.

Not a toy. The kit contains vulcanising solution that is flammable and irritates the skin and strongly irritates the eyes. Keep the kit and the opened tube of solution out of the reach of children and pets, and keep them away from the work area during the repair.

Instructions and safety information

Work only in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves and eye protection. Remove the inner tube, locate the leak, dry and clean the area. Choose a patch that extends at least 10 mm beyond the edges of the damage. Roughen the area around the damage slightly larger than the patch and wipe off the sanding dust. Apply a thin layer of vulcanising solution and allow it to dry for at least 5 minutes until matt and touch-dry. Remove the protective film from the patch without touching the bonding surface, place the patch centrally over the damage and press it on from the centre towards the edges. Check for leaks before assembling the tyre. Close the tube of solution immediately after use. Avoid breathing the vapour and getting the solution on the skin or in the eyes; in case of splashes in the eyes, rinse with plenty of water for several minutes and seek medical advice. If swallowed, contact a doctor or a poison information centre immediately.

Operation and protective measures

The vulcanising solution contains a solvent and a rubber compound that dissolve the surfaces of the roughened inner tube rubber and the bonding layer of the patch. Once the solvent has evaporated, the rubber molecules bond to each other at room temperature, so that the patch becomes part of the tube rather than a glued joint. The multi-layer structure of the patch distributes the stretching of the tube evenly, and the feathered edge prevents the patch from chafing against the outer tyre. Protective measures: ventilated work area, protective gloves and eye protection, removal of ignition sources, a thin layer of solution and a drying time of at least 5 minutes, pressing out air from under the patch from the centre to the edges, and a leak check after inflating the tyre.

Environmental conditions

The repair is carried out in a dry, well-ventilated area at room temperature. In cold conditions the solvent evaporates more slowly and the drying time is longer. The vapour is heavier than air and collects at floor level and in service pits. The vulcanising solution is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects: it must not be released into drains, soil or watercourses. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place away from heat sources and open flames.

Risk assessment

The product contains a vulcanising solution classified as hazardous under the CLP Regulation. Fire and explosion hazard: flammable liquid and vapour near ignition sources or in confined spaces. Health hazard: skin and eye irritation, and drowsiness and dizziness when the vapour is inhaled. Environmental hazard: toxicity to aquatic life. Repair failure: insufficient roughening, a solution layer that is too thick or not dry, an air bubble under the patch or the wrong patch size may cause the tyre to deflate while riding. Use on the wrong object: tubeless tyre or large tear. Choking hazard: small parts and protective films within the reach of children. The risks are controlled by ventilation, personal protective equipment, removal of ignition sources, following the work steps and drying time, the correct patch size, a leak check and storage out of the reach of children.

Kasutusotstarve

Õhuga täidetud kummist sisekummide torkeaukude ja lühikeste lõigete parandamine külmvulkaniseerimise meetodil jalgratastel ja teistel väikestel õhkrehvidel, nagu lapsevankrid, tõukerattad ja käsikärud. Toodet ei tohi kasutada sisekummita (tubeless) rehvide paikamiseks ega suurte rebendite, ventiili aluse kahjustuste või rehvi küljeni ulatuvate lõigete parandamiseks; sellisel juhul vahetatakse sisekumm välja.

Hoiatused laste ja lemmikloomade kohta

Ei ole mänguasi. Komplekt sisaldab vulkaniseerimisvedelikku, mis on tuleohtlik, ärritab nahka ja tugevalt silmi. Pakendis on väikesed osad ja kaitsekiled, mis põhjustavad väikelastele ja lemmikloomadele lämbumisohtu. Hoidke komplekti ja avatud vedelikutuubi lastele ja lemmikloomadele kättesaamatus kohas ning hoidke neid parandamise ajal tööalast eemal.

Kasutusjuhend ja ohutusteave

Töötage ainult hästi ventileeritud ruumis ning kandke kaitsekindaid ja silmakaitset. Eemaldage sisekumm, leidke leke, kuivatage ja puhastage ala. Valige paik, mis ulatub kahjustuse servadest vähemalt 10 mm üle. Karestage kahjustuse ümbrus paigast veidi suuremal alal ja pühkige karestustolm ära. Kandke peale õhuke kiht vulkaniseerimisvedelikku ja laske sel vähemalt 5 minutit kuivada, kuni pind on matt ja puutekuiv. Eemaldage paiga kaitsekile nakkepinda puudutamata, asetage paik kahjustuse keskele ja vajutage see keskelt servade suunas kinni. Kontrollige tihedust enne rehvi kokkupanekut. Sulgege vedelikutuub kohe pärast kasutamist. Vältige aurude sissehingamist ning vedeliku sattumist nahale ja silma; silma sattunud pritsmeid loputage mitu minutit rohke veega ja pöörduge arsti poole. Allaneelamisel võtke kohe ühendust arsti või mürgistusteabekeskusega.

Toimimine ja kaitsemeetmed

Vulkaniseerimisvedelik sisaldab lahustit ja kummiühendit, mis lahustavad karestatud sisekummi ja paiga sidekihi pinnad. Pärast lahusti aurustumist seonduvad kummimolekulid toatemperatuuril omavahel, nii et paik muutub sisekummi osaks, mitte liimõmbluseks. Paiga mitmekihiline struktuur jaotab sisekummi venimise ühtlaselt ja õhendatud serv takistab paiga hõõrdumist vastu välisrehvi. Kaitsemeetmed: ventileeritud tööruum, kaitsekindad ja silmakaitse, süüteallikate eemaldamine, õhuke vedelikukiht ja vähemalt 5-minutiline kuivamisaeg, õhu väljasurumine paiga alt keskelt servade suunas vajutades ning tiheduse kontroll pärast rehvi täitmist.

Keskkonnatingimused

Parandus tehakse kuivas, hästi ventileeritud ruumis toatemperatuuril. Külmas aurustub lahusti aeglasemalt ja kuivamisaeg pikeneb. Aur on õhust raskem ja koguneb põranda tasandile ja hooldusaukudesse. Vulkaniseerimisvedelik on veeorganismidele mürgine ja pikaajaliste toimetega: seda ei tohi lasta kanalisatsiooni, pinnasesse ega veekogudesse. Hoiustage jahedas ja hästi ventileeritud kohas, eemal soojusallikatest ja lahtisest tulest.

Riskihindamine

Toode sisaldab CLP-määruse kohaselt ohtlikuks klassifitseeritud vulkaniseerimisvedelikku. Tule- ja plahvatusoht: tuleohtlik vedelik ja aur süüteallika läheduses või kitsas ruumis. Terviseoht: naha- ja silmaärritus ning uimasus ja peapööritus aurude sissehingamisel. Keskkonnaoht: mürgisus veeorganismidele. Paranduse ebaõnnestumine: ebapiisav karestamine, liiga paks või kuivamata vedelikukiht, õhumull paiga all või vale paiga suurus võib põhjustada rehvi tühjenemise sõidu ajal. Kasutamine vales kohas: tubeless-rehv või suur rebend. Lämbumisoht: väikesed osad ja kaitsekiled lastele kättesaadavas kohas. Riske maandatakse ventilatsiooni, isikukaitsevahendite, süüteallikate eemaldamise, tööetappide ja kuivamisaja järgimise, õige paiga suuruse, tiheduse kontrolli ning lastele kättesaamatus kohas hoiustamisega.
