Description
The Schwan Inox plastering trowel is a professional-grade tool designed to withstand daily use on masonry and tiling sites. The blade of the trowel is made of high-quality stainless steel (Inox). This is a significant advantage over traditional steel trowels, as it withstands constant exposure to wet, corrosive mortar without rusting. Being rustproof guarantees a long service life for the tool and ensures that no rust gets into the mortar, which is important especially when using light-coloured mortars.
The design of the trowel makes it an excellent general-purpose tool. The straight end is particularly good for scraping mortar off the bottom and sides of a mixing tub or bucket, minimising material waste. It is an efficient tool for moving, mixing and rough spreading of mortar before the actual levelling or combing. The sturdy, traditional wooden handle gives a pleasant, secure grip even with wet hands or gloves on, and it dampens vibration from the work.
Intended use:
- Handling mortar: Moving mortar, levelling compound or adhesive from the mixing tub to the surface being worked or to the brick trowel.
- Mixing: Mixing smaller batches of mortar directly in the bucket.
- Emptying the bucket: The tip lets you scrape the bottom of a round container clean efficiently.
- General masonry work: Suitable for many kinds of repair, rendering and tiling work where a durable trowel is needed.

Instructions for use:
Use the trowel to pick up and spread mortar in line with normal working methods. Use the flat tip to collect the last of the mortar from the bottom of the bucket. After work, clean the trowel immediately with water and a brush before the mortar has time to harden on the steel surface. Although the steel is stainless, to ensure a long life for the wooden handle, it is best to dry the tool after cleaning and not leave it soaking in water for long periods.
Warnings:
The edges of the steel trowel can be sharp; handle with care. Do not use the trowel as a chisel or hammer, as this can damage the blade or the handle fixing.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Why choose an Inox trowel instead of an ordinary steel trowel?
Inox (stainless steel) does not rust, even when it is in constant contact with wet mortar. This extends the life of the tool significantly and prevents rust stains in the mortar, which is important especially with light-coloured mortars.
What is a flat-tipped trowel used for?
The flat tip is often called a “bucket trowel”. Its shape is ideal for scraping mortar off the bottom and sides of a round mixing tub, which reduces material waste. It is also well suited to rough spreading of mortar.
Does the wooden handle need special care?
The wooden handle is comfortable to use, but it does not like being soaked in water for long periods. It is enough to clean and dry the tool after use.
Recycling instructions:
The product is made mainly of metal and wood. At the end of its life, the metal part can be recycled through metal collection. The wooden handle can be disposed of as energy waste if it can be removed from the trowel.
