Description
Schwan’s wooden-handled rebar tying hook is a hand tool designed for professional use, optimised for demanding, repetitive tying of concrete reinforcement. This tool is essential equipment on building sites and in precast concrete factories, where assembling reinforcement meshes and cages requires speed and precision.
The design of the hook focuses especially on making work more efficient and reducing the physical load on the user. At the heart of the tool is the built-in, very smooth-running bearing in the handle. This mechanism lets the hook part rotate freely and without friction, turning a manual twisting movement that strains the wrist into a light, smooth operation. Thanks to the bearing, tightening the tie wire at the crossings of the bars is quick, which significantly speeds up the whole reinforcement process and reduces strain on the user’s wrist during long working days.
Comfort is completed by an ergonomically shaped wooden handle that gives a natural, warm and secure grip in varying working conditions, even when wearing protective gloves. In addition, the metal hook end of the tool has a deeper profile than usual. This deep throat ensures that the tie wire stays reliably in place throughout the fast rotating movement, minimising wire slips and improving the quality and continuity of the work.
Intended use:
This rebar tying hook is intended for professional use in concrete construction.
- Tying concrete reinforcement on site: The product is used for manually tying reinforcement bars and meshes to each other with tie wire (rebar wire) before the concrete is poured. The bearing mechanism allows smooth, fast tightening of the wire in footings, walls, slabs and columns, ensuring that the reinforcement stays in the planned position during pouring.
- Precast industry: The hook is suitable for assembling reinforcement cages and meshes in precast concrete factories. The ergonomic design and light-running bearing are an advantage in a series production environment where a large number of ties are made every day.
Package contents:
- 1 pcs Schwan rebar tying hook with wooden handle
Features:
- Very well bearing-mounted handle: The bearing mechanism built into the handle lets the hook part rotate very smoothly and without resistance. This significantly reduces strain on the user’s wrist in the repetitive tying movement and speeds up work.
- Shaped wooden handle: The handle is made of wood and ergonomically shaped to fit the hand. Wood as a material offers a good feel and grip and does not feel cold even in cool conditions.
- Deeper hook than usual: The hook end is deeper than usual. This technical detail ensures that the tie wire stays in the hook slot better during tightening, reducing wire slips and making the workflow more efficient.
- Durable construction: The hook part is made of durable metal that withstands the demanding conditions of a building site and the torque needed for tying.
Technical specifications:
- Handle material: Wood
- Hook material: Steel
- Operating mechanism: Bearing-mounted rotating handle
- Hook type: Deep profile
Instructions for use:
Place the tie wire (rebar wire) around the reinforcement crossing to be tied. Thread the tip of the tying hook through the wire loop and catch the ends of the wire in the hook. Pull the hook slightly towards you and start turning the handle. Thanks to the bearing-mounted handle, the hook part rotates and twists the wire into a tight knot around the bars. When the wire is tight enough, stop turning and pull the hook out of the wire loop. Take care not to overtighten the wire, so that it does not break.
Warnings:
The tip of the hook is sharp; handle with care to avoid puncture wounds. Always wear suitable protective gloves when working with reinforcement and tie wires to protect your hands from scratches and cuts. Beware of the wire breaking when overtightened. Despite the ergonomic handle, a long, repetitive working movement can strain the hand and wrist; take enough breaks.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Does the bearing-mounted handle need maintenance?
The bearing is usually lubricated for life, but keeping it clean is important. If the bearing starts to stick, cleaning it and lubricating it lightly with a suitable general-purpose oil can restore it to working order.
What thickness of wire does this hook suit?
The hook is suitable for use with the most common annealed wires used for tying reinforcement (typically 1.2 mm – 1.6 mm in diameter).
Recycling instructions:
The product is made of metal and wood. At the end of its life, the product can be dismantled and the metal part recycled in metal collection and the wooden handle as energy waste or wood waste in line with local recycling regulations.
