Description
Sthor green cross-line laser (18003) is a small, very easy-to-use measuring tool that projects a bright green horizontal and vertical line. These lines form a precise cross intersecting at 90 degrees, which makes it easier to align surfaces, determine angles and transfer levels. The green laser beam gives up to four times better visibility to the eye than traditional red laser beams, which improves work in bright conditions and over longer distances.
This cross-line laser has a self-levelling function, which activates automatically when the device is switched on and within the levelling range (±3 degrees). If the device is tilted too far, the laser lines flash to indicate inaccurate levelling, ensuring that the projected lines stay reliable. Self-levelling can also be locked manually, which lets you project laser lines at the angle you want. The device runs on two AA batteries, and its compact construction (60x50x70 mm) and light weight (0.17 kg) make it easy to move around.
The technical features of the line laser cover a working range of up to 10 metres depending on the ambient lighting. The measuring accuracy of the laser is ±3 mm / 10 m, which guarantees reliable results for general installation tasks. The device is designed to withstand conditions of use, and its IP22 rating gives protection against dripping water when the device is upright. The device has a 1/4″ thread, which lets you attach it easily to a tripod or other mounts.
Intended use:
- Installing furniture and shelves: With the horizontal and vertical lines, kitchen cabinets, shelving, pictures and other wall-mounted elements can be lined up straight and at the right height. The green beam is clearly visible, making the installation process easier.
- Tiling and floor installation: The horizontal line is projected above the floor surface, giving an accurate reference level for installing floor tiles, laminates or other floor coverings. The vertical line helps determine the starting line for tiling and ensures straight joints across the room.
- Electrical and HVAC installations: Lines for pipes, cable trays and sockets on walls and ceilings can be done quickly and consistently throughout the room. The laser lines show clear routes and installation heights, ensuring neat, consistent installations.
- Erecting partition walls and frames: The vertical line forms a straight line on the floor, ceiling and wall, which speeds up positioning partition wall frames and ensures they are plumb. The horizontal line makes it easier to transfer levels from one room to another.
- Hanging pictures and other decorative elements: With the cross-line laser you can easily find the perfect position for pictures, mirrors and other decorations, making sure they are straight and level with each other.

Sthor cross-line laser green instructions for use:
Before use, make sure two new AA batteries are fitted in the device. Open the battery compartment, insert the batteries the right way round and close the compartment carefully. Place the cross-line laser on a stable, surface that is as level as possible, or attach it to a suitable mount (e.g. a tripod) using the thread of the device. Make sure the setup is firm and the device cannot move during use.
Switch on the device with the power switch. The device starts in self-levelling mode and projects the laser lines. Wait a moment until the lines stop flashing, which shows that self-levelling is complete. You can then choose the laser lines you want (horizontal, vertical or both) with the buttons on the device. If the device projects the lines flashing, it is at too large an angle outside the self-levelling range (±3 degrees). Adjust the position of the device manually until it can level itself.
For transport, remember to switch off the device and lock the laser pendulum by moving the power switch to the “OFF” position. This locks the pendulum and protects it from jolts during transport, ensuring the device lasts. Always store the device in the storage pouch supplied.
Warnings:
- Laser radiation: Do not look directly into the laser beam or point it at the eyes of other people or animals. The laser beam can cause eye damage.
- Reflective surfaces: Beware of the laser beam reflecting from mirrors or other shiny surfaces, as a reflected beam can be as dangerous as a direct beam.
- Handling: The cross-line laser is a precision measuring device. Handle it with care and avoid dropping, strong vibration and impacts, which can damage the internal mechanism and reduce measuring accuracy.
- Environmental conditions: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, moisture or rain. Use and store the device within the temperature range stated in the technical data.
- IP22 protection: The device is protected against dripping water when it is upright. Do not expose the device to a direct water jet or immerse it in water.
- Servicing: Do not try to open or repair the device yourself. Servicing and repair of the device must be left to an authorised service centre.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
- Question: How far is the green laser line visible?
Answer: The working range of the Sthor cross-line laser is about 10 metres. Visibility is significantly affected by the ambient lighting. In bright light, visibility is shorter than in dim light. However, the green beam is considerably more visible than red in the same conditions. - Question: Can this laser be used with a tripod?
Answer: Yes, the base of the device has a standard 1/4″ thread, which lets you attach it to most camera tripods and site tripods. - Question: How does the self-levelling function work?
Answer: Inside the device there is a pendulum mechanism that automatically finds level when the device is placed within the ±3 degree tilt range. If the device is tilted more, the laser lines flash to indicate that it cannot level itself. - Question: Can this laser make sloping lines?
Answer: Yes, by locking the self-levelling mechanism (see “manual mode” in the user manual), you can tilt the laser to the angle you want to project sloping lines. In this mode the lines flash regularly to indicate that self-levelling is not in use. - Question: What batteries does this use?
Answer: The device runs on two ordinary AA batteries. We recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best performance and life.
Recycling instructions:
Packaging materials: Recycle cardboard and paperboard packaging in paper collection and plastic packaging in plastic collection according to local instructions.
Electronic waste (WEEE): Do not dispose of the cross-line laser with household waste. These are electrical and electronic devices (WEEE), and they should be taken to an appropriate collection point for recycling.
Batteries: Remove the batteries from the device before disposing of it. Do not dispose of batteries with mixed waste. Take used batteries to a battery collection point, for example the collection boxes in shops, with the terminals protected against short circuits.
