Description
Vorel wood plane 235 x 44 mm is a robust hand tool designed for precise working of wood and wood-based materials. This model combines a durable metal body with a high-quality blade, which ensures an even planed finish in various joinery tasks. The body of the plane is made of 1.8 mm thick sheet steel, with an overall length of 235 mm and a sole width of 50 mm. The sturdy construction and ground sole guarantee stability during use.
At the core of the product is its 44 mm wide plane iron, made of 65Mn manganese steel. The blade is hardened to 50–55 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness and the ability to work even hard woods. The blade is fixed with a metal knob, and the plane has precise fine adjustment of the cutting depth with two adjusting screws. Thanks to this mechanism, the user can adjust the shaving thickness very precisely.
Comfort in use has been addressed with ergonomic front and rear handles made of durable ABS plastic. They give a firm grip and good control when planing. The surface of the plane is lacquered for better protection. This Vorel plane is suitable for working wood, wood-based materials and also some plastics, where material needs to be removed from the surface or edges levelled.
Intended use:
- Woodworking and joinery tasks: This plane is designed mainly for levelling, thinning and straightening the surface of solid wood. Its adjustable blade lets you work different wood species, such as pine, oak or birch, precisely to the required size and surface quality.
- Shaping wood-based materials: The tool can also be used for tidying up and shaping the edges of various wood-based boards, such as plywood or chipboard. The sharp 65Mn blade bites cleanly into these materials too, without compromising the finish.
- Fitting work and finishing: The plane is excellent for precisely fitting doors, windows or drawers, where a small amount of material has to be removed for a perfect fit. The fine adjustment mechanism makes this work controlled and precise.

Vorel wood plane 235 x 44 mm instructions for use:
Before starting, make sure the blade of the plane is sharp and correctly fitted. Adjust the cutting depth with the two adjusting screws, starting with a thin shaving. Turn the screws evenly so that the blade stays square to the sole. Tighten the metal fixing knob of the blade firmly. Use the plane by holding both handles firmly. Push the plane with an even movement along the grain of the wood. Start the stroke by placing the sole on the front-handle side on the workpiece and shift your weight to the rear handle as the stroke progresses.
After use, clean wood shavings and dust off the plane. Protect the blade and sole with a light layer of oil to prevent corrosion, especially if the plane will not be used for a long time. Store the tool in a dry place, preferably so that the blade cannot touch other metal objects.
Warnings:
- Sharp blade: The blade of the plane is very sharp. Handle it with care during fitting, adjustment and cleaning to avoid cuts.
- Securing the workpiece: Always make sure the workpiece is firmly fixed to a planing bench or with clamps before starting work.
- Protective equipment: Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying wood shavings and dust. Wear a respirator if necessary if significant sanding dust is produced.
- Check the material: Before planing, make sure there are no nails, screws or other metal parts in the workpiece that could damage the plane blade.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How do I adjust the blade of the Vorel wood plane?
The blade is fine-adjusted with the two adjusting screws at the rear of the plane. Turning the screws lowers or raises the blade, which affects the thickness of the shaving. Make sure you adjust both screws so that the blade stays square to the sole.
Can hard wood be planed with this plane?
Yes, the plane’s blade, made of 65Mn manganese steel and hardened to 50–55 HRC, is also suitable for working harder woods. Make sure the blade is sharp and set a thin shaving when planing hard wood.
Does the blade need sharpening before first use?
The blade is supplied sharpened from the factory, but for optimal performance a fine final sharpening (honing) may be needed before the most demanding jobs.
Recycling instructions:
The metal body and blade of the plane are metal waste and should be taken to metal recycling. The ABS plastic handles can be removed and recycled as plastic waste if plastic recycling is available in your area, or disposed of as energy waste. Packaging materials (cardboard, plastic) should be sorted into the corresponding recycling bins.
