Description
Yato cordless leaf blower 2x18V (YT-85179) is a handheld leaf blower that runs on two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries connected in series, i.e. at a voltage of 36 V. The brushless motor runs at 9,000–19,000 rpm, the air volume is 900 m³/h and with the turbo function the air speed rises to 200 km/h. The body-only version does not include batteries or a charger.
The blowing power is selected on the control panel in four steps with the arrow buttons; it always starts at the lowest power. Turbobutton raises the airflow to maximum for a moment (max. 30 s at a time). The panel’s indicator lights show both the selected blowing power and the battery charge level in three colours.
The air tube and nozzle lock onto the body with latches without tools, and the unit is stored dismantled. The body has two attachment points for a carrying strap, which runs diagonally over the shoulder and eases the grip during long work. The padded handle and a 0.49 m/s²vibration value make the blower easy to handle; the weight stated by the manufacturer is 4.3 kg.
The battery-powered blower is quieter than a petrol blower (LpA 76.3 dB(A)) and needs no extension cable, so it suits clearing leaves and clippings from gardens, paths and terraces and drying surfaces before painting or welding roofing felt. The electrical protection class is III and its IP rating is IPX0, so the unit must not be used in rain.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless leaf blower 2x18V is intended for cleaning work in the garden and in the immediate vicinity of buildings.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless leaf blower 2x18V:
Assembly: press the tube locking button, push the air tube onto the air outlet of the body and release the button so that the latch locks into the hole in the tube. Push the nozzle onto the tube and turn it anticlockwise until the arrow marks point at each other. Attach the snap hook of the carrying strap to the attachment point on the body.
Batteries: push two identical, equally fully charged Yato 18 V batteries into the slots until the latches lock. The unit will not start with one battery.
Starting and power adjustment: grip the handle, point the nozzle downwards and press the on/off switch on the control panel. Increase or reduce the blowing power one step at a time with the arrow buttons. Hold the turbo button down for no more than 30 seconds; it works only when the unit is at full speed.
Working: direct the airflow downwind and away from people, animals and windows; keep the air intake off the ground. Walk, do not run; move across slopes. Take breaks.
Switching off and maintenance: press the on/off switch, wait until it stops and remove the batteries. Remove the nozzle by turning it clockwise and the tube with the locking button. Clean the ventilation openings and tubes with a brush or compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa) and the body with a damp cloth; the nozzle can be rinsed with water. Do not immerse the unit in water.
Storage: dismantled, in a dry place at 0…+40 °C and max. 80% humidity, preferably in the original packaging.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual before use. Wear safety glasses, a face shield, ear defenders, protective gloves and long-sleeved clothing.
- Do not point the airflow at people or animals; debris thrown up can bounce back at the user.
- Do not blow hot ash, embers, snow or water. Do not use the blower to inflate mattresses or to light fires.
- Do not expose the unit to rain (IPX0) and do not use it during thunderstorms or in explosive atmospheres.
- Use the unit only when fully assembled with the tube and nozzle. Keep the ventilation openings clear.
- Remove the batteries after use and before cleaning, clearing blockages and changing accessories.
- Use only Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries YT-82842, YT-82843, YT-82844 and YT-82845 and Yato chargers YT-82848 or YT-82849.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which batteries does the Yato cordless leaf blower 2x18V need? Two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries (2, 3, 4 or 6 Ah), preferably the same size and equally fully charged. The blower will not start with one battery.
How long can the turbo function be used? For no more than 30 seconds at a time and only when the normal blowing power is not enough. Turbo works while the button is held and returns to normal power when the button is released.
Can the blower vacuum leaves? No. YT-85179 is a blower only; the vacuum and shredder function is in a separate blower-vacuum model.
What is the difference between the 18 V and 2 x 18 V Yato leaf blowers? The single-battery model produces 400–570 m³/h and 100–126 km/h; the two-battery model 900 m³/h and 200 km/h with turbo, and it weighs more.
Can the blower be used in wet weather? No. The IP rating is IPX0, and the unit must not be exposed to rain or humidity above 80%.
Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and the plastic bags into plastic collection. A discarded Yato cordless leaf blower 2x18V is waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): it must not be disposed of with mixed waste but taken to a WEEE collection point or the retailer. Return the Li-Ion batteries separately to a battery collection point with the terminals taped. The plastic tubes and nozzle go to plastic collection or to WEEE collection with the unit.
