Description
The Yato torch 10W 1000 lm is a battery-powered hand torch with a CREE XP-L power LED as its light source. The luminous flux is 1000 lumens and the beam range 350 metres, which is enough to identify objects at a long distance in the dark. The body is made of aluminium, and the torch is IPX4 splash-proof.
The torch has a zoom function: the beam is adjusted from a wide close-range light to a narrow long-range light by pushing or pulling the head of the torch. The three lighting modes 100%, 50% and flashing are selected with the rubber-coated power button at the rear end of the torch. The flashing mode is intended for attracting attention and emergency signalling.
It is powered by 4 x R14 (C) batteries, which are not included. The large battery compartment makes the torch sturdy: it measures Ø 46 x 254 mm and weighs 420 g without batteries. The wrist strap prevents the torch from being dropped, and the aluminium body withstands knocks and changes in the weather.
The torch is suitable for inspection and surveillance tasks that need a long range: guarding yards and industrial sites, forest and outdoor use, boating, inspecting vehicles and machinery, and as part of your power cut kit. For close work in a small space, a head torch is a better fit, such as the Yato head torch 800 LM, rechargeable 2200 mAh IP54.
Uses and suitability:
A long-range torch that runs on ordinary R14 batteries without charging, so it is ready to use even after long storage.
- Security and property maintenance: the 350-metre range covers yards, car parks and storage areas from one point; the 50% mode extends battery life on patrols.
- Hunting, hiking and boating: the zoomable beam picks out a path or buoy far away; IPX4 protection withstands rain and splashes, not immersion.
- Vehicle and machinery inspection: the wide close-range beam lights up an engine bay or undercarriage, and the rubber-coated button also works with gloves on.
- Backup light: battery operation makes the torch a reliable backup light for power cuts, the cottage and the car; the batteries are changed in seconds.

Yato torch 10W 1000 lm instructions for use:
Fitting the batteries: Unscrew the rear cap of the torch, insert four R14 batteries into the battery holder according to the polarity markings on the holder and screw the cap back on. Always use batteries of the same type and age.
Use: Press the power button at the rear end: each press cycles through the lighting modes 100%, 50% and flashing, then off. Adjust the beam width by pushing or pulling the head of the torch (zoom).
Care: Wipe the lens and body with a dry or damp cloth. Remove the batteries if the torch will not be used for a long time, so that leaking batteries do not damage the contacts. Check the cap seal now and then; a dirty or damaged seal weakens the splash protection.
Warnings:
- Do not look directly into the beam or point it into the eyes of people or animals: 1000 lm dazzles and can damage eyesight.
- IPX4 only protects against splashes: the torch must not be immersed in water.
- Do not mix new and used batteries or batteries of different types; insert the batteries the right way round.
- The LED head gets warm in continuous 100% use, so do not cover the torch during use.
- Not a toy; keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What batteries does the Yato torch 10W 1000 lm use? Four R14 (C-size) batteries; they are not included in the package.
How far does the light of the Yato torch reach? 350 metres when zoomed to narrow; with a wide beam the light is spread over the nearby area.
Is the torch waterproof? It is IPX4 splash-proof, which means it withstands rain and splashes, but not immersion.
Can rechargeable batteries be used in the torch? R14-size NiMH batteries fit mechanically; their 1.2 V voltage shortens the range slightly compared with alkaline batteries.
How do I change the lighting mode? By pressing the power button at the rear end again; the modes 100%, 50% and flashing cycle in order.
How much does the Yato torch weigh? 420 g without batteries.
Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard and blister plastic of the packaging into cardboard and plastic collection. The Yato torch 10W 1000 lm is electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): take a torch that is no longer used to WEEE collection or to the seller, not to mixed waste. Take used batteries to battery collection.
