Description
Yato cordless leaf blower and vacuum 2x18V (YT-85173) is a dual-function garden tool: in the blower configuration it moves leaves and clippings with an airflow, and in the vacuum configuration it sucks them up and shreds them into a 45 l collection bag. The unit runs on two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries connected in series, i.e. at a voltage of 36 V; the body-only version does not include batteries or a charger.
The motor is brushless, and its speed adjusts in steps from 6,000–17,000 rpm; the air volume is 308–700 m³/h. The turbo button briefly raises the air speed to 270 km/h. The blowing or suction power step is selected with the arrow buttons on the control panel, and the indicator lights show the selected power and the battery charge level.
In vacuum mode, the impeller and cutting blades in the air intake channel shred the leaves before they reach the bag, so the bag holds more. The impeller inspection cover opens without tools, so twigs and stems that have been sucked in are easy to remove. The adjustable front handle and the carrying strap spread the weight between both hands and the shoulder.
The power unit weighs only 2.16 kg without accessories, and according to the manufacturer two batteries are enough for up to 40 minutes of use. The electrical protection class is III and its IP rating is IPX0: the unit is intended for dry weather, and it must not be used to vacuum wet, hot or construction waste. The noise level is LpA 87.6 dB(A), so ear defenders are necessary.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless leaf blower and vacuum is intended for cleaning work in the garden and in the immediate vicinity of buildings.
- Gathering leaves by blowing: gardens, paths and terraces; the power steps and turbo also lift a damp layer of leaves.
- Vacuuming and shredding leaves: beds, corners and under shrubs, where leaves cannot be blown into a pile; the shredded leaf mass suits compost or mulch.
- Clippings and needles: cleaning up after trimming and hedge cutting; thanks to the light power unit the work is easy even when carried on the strap.
- Yato 18 V system: the same batteries fit other tools in the range, for example the Yato cordless leaf blower 18V, body only and Yato cordless hedge trimmer 18V 45 cm, body only.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless leaf blower and vacuum:
Blower configuration: connect the blower nozzle to the first section of the tube and the sections to each other until the latches lock, then attach the tube to the air outlet of the body while pressing the locking button. The air intake cover must be in place: the impeller and blades rotate in the channel.
Vacuum configuration: assemble the vacuum tube and vacuum nozzle, move the intake lock in the direction of the arrow, remove the cover and attach the vacuum tube to the intake channel. Attach the collection bag to the air outlet and the bag’s snap hook to the holder at the bottom of the body. Adjust the front handle with the locking buttons. The vacuum must not be used without an undamaged, correctly attached bag.
Batteries and starting: push two identical, equally fully charged Yato 18 V batteries into the slots. Press the on/off switch on the control panel; the unit starts at the lowest power. Adjust the power with the arrow buttons and use the TURBO button for no more than 30 s at a time.
Working: point the blower nozzle downwards and the airflow downwind; keep a safety zone of at least 15 m. When vacuuming, empty the bag regularly; do not vacuum wet, hot material or construction dust. Walk, do not run.
Maintenance: remove the batteries, and dismantle the tubes and bag. Clean the ventilation openings and channels with a soft brush or compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa) and the body with a damp cloth; the nozzle can be rinsed. Empty the bag via the zip and blow out the dust. Handle the sharp rotor blades with care. Do not immerse the unit or batteries in water.
Storage: dismantled, in a dry place at 0…+40 °C and max. 80% humidity, preferably in the original packaging.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual before use. Wear safety glasses, a face shield, ear defenders, protective gloves and long-sleeved clothing.
- Keep hands away from moving parts: the impeller and shredder blades in the intake channel are sharp and rotate during use. Do not use the blower without the intake cover.
- Do not point the airflow at people or animals; keep a safety zone of at least 15 m.
- Do not blow or vacuum ash, embers, snow, water, wet or hot waste or construction dust. The unit is not a household vacuum cleaner.
- Do not expose the unit to rain (IPX0) and do not use it during thunderstorms or in explosive atmospheres.
- Remove the batteries after use and before cleaning, clearing blockages, changing the configuration and adjusting.
- Use only Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries YT-82842, YT-82843, YT-82844 and YT-82845 and Yato chargers YT-82848 or YT-82849.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which batteries does the Yato cordless leaf blower and vacuum need? Two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries (2, 3, 4 or 6 Ah), preferably the same size and equally fully charged. The unit will not start with one battery.
How is the unit changed from a blower to a vacuum? Remove the batteries, replace the blower tube with the vacuum tube in the intake channel, attach the collection bag to the air outlet and adjust the front handle. The change is made without tools.
Does the vacuum shred the leaves? Yes. The impeller and cutting blades in the intake channel chop up the leaves before the 45 l bag, and twigs that get stuck can be removed from the channel through the inspection cover.
How long can the turbo function be used? For no more than 30 seconds at a time while the button is held; continuous turbo use is not possible.
Can the unit vacuum wet leaves or sawdust? No. Wet, damp and hot waste and construction dust clog the unit and are prohibited.
Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and the plastic bags into plastic collection. A discarded Yato cordless leaf blower and vacuum is waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): it must not be disposed of with mixed waste but taken to a WEEE collection point or the retailer. Return the Li-Ion batteries separately to a battery collection point with the terminals taped. The plastic tubes and nozzles go to plastic collection or to WEEE collection with the unit; the fabric collection bag goes to mixed waste.
