Description
Yato cordless multi-tool BL 4 Ah set (YT-82226) includes an 18 V cordless oscillating multi-tool, a 4 Ah Li-Ion battery and a charger. The brushless motor moves the accessory through a 4° angle at 10500–20000 min⁻¹ , and charging the battery takes about 2 hours.
Oscillating movement means that the blade does not rotate but swings rapidly back and forth. This lets the tool make plunge cuts, cut mouldings and pipes flush with a surface, scrape joints and sand corners that a rotating machine cannot reach. The tool is designed for finishing work on wood, plastics and metal.
The accessory is changed without keys using the quick-release lever: the lever is lifted, turned 180° and the blade placed on the spindle mount. The spindle suits accessories with both open and closed mounting holes. The oscillation speed is adjusted steplessly with a dial, and the LED light comes on automatically when the tool starts.
The tool weighs 1.1 kg without the battery. The package includes a scraper, a plunge saw blade, a segment saw blade, a triangular sanding pad and three hook-and-loop sanding sheets. The noise level is LpA 81 dB(A) and vibration 4.36 m/s², so hearing protection and breaks are recommended for long jobs.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless multi-tool BL 4 Ah is suitable for renovation, installation and finishing work that requires precise cutting or sanding in tight spots.
- Plunge cutting and trimming: Sawing openings in wood boards and panels and cutting mouldings, door frames and plastic pipes flush with the surface using the plunge saw blade.
- Straight cuts in boards: The segment saw blade makes long straight cuts in wood and plastic boards.
- Scraping: Removing old paint, adhesives, silicone and seals with the scraper, for example from floors and window frames.
- Sanding in corners: The triangular pad reaches inside corners, window frames and furniture edges.
The battery and charger in the set belong to the Yato 18 V battery system; a suitable extra battery is the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery. An earlier model in the same range is the Yato cordless multi-tool 18V + 2.0 Ah battery and charger set, and the body-only version is the Yato cordless multi-tool 18V with OIS quick lock, body only.

Yato cordless multi-tool BL 4 Ah user instructions:
Charging the battery: Place the battery in the charger and plug the charger into a socket; the indicator light shows the charging status. Charge only indoors in a dry place under supervision and only with the charger in the set. Charging takes about 2 hours.
Fitting the accessory (open mounting hole): Remove the battery. Lift the quick-release lever and turn it 180° so that the clamping pin pushes out. Place the blade between the pin and the spindle so that the holes engage with the spindle mount, turn the lever back and press it down.
Closed mounting hole: Open the lever as above, turn the clamping pin 90° clockwise and pull it out. Place the blade on the spindle, push the pin back in, turn it 90° anticlockwise and lock the lever. The working part of the blade must not point towards the user.
Sanding sheet: Attach the sanding sheet to the hook-and-loop surface of the pad so that the edges and dust holes line up. Do not use the same sheet on different materials.
Use: Slide a charged battery into the battery slot with the switch in the off position until the latch locks. Select the speed with the dial, start the tool and only then bring the blade against the workpiece. Do not press too hard and avoid sudden movements. Take breaks because of vibration, noise and dust.
Maintenance: Switch off the tool and remove the battery before maintenance. Clean the body and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Store the battery at 0–30 °C at about 70% charge.
Warnings:
- Always remove the battery before changing the accessory, making adjustments and maintenance.
- The blades are sharp and get hot during use: wear protective gloves when changing the blade.
- Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and work gloves. Sanding dust (e.g. lead paint, certain wood species and metals) can be harmful to health: use dust extraction and a respirator.
- Hold the tool by the insulated grip surfaces if the blade may hit hidden electrical cables.
- Do not work on plaster or fibre-reinforced fillers.
- Do not overload the tool; the temperature of the outer surfaces must not exceed 60 °C.
- Do not use the tool in rain or wet conditions (IPX0) or in explosive environments.
- Use only Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries; do not short-circuit the battery terminals or expose the battery to temperatures above 130 °C.
