Description
Yato cordless pruning saw 10 cm, body only (YT-828136) is a lightweight cordless mini chainsaw for cutting branches and trimming shrubs and brushwood. The saw has a 4″ (101 mm) guide bar, a 0.3″ (7.62 mm) pitch chain and a chain speed of 4.8 m/s. The body-only version is supplied without a battery and charger, and it runs on Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries.
The saw weighs 1.1 kg without battery, guide bar and chain, so it can be used for long periods in yard and garden pruning work. The saw is held with the right hand on the handle and the left hand on the rubber-coated part of the housing. The bar has a pivoting top guard, which is lowered before starting.
The chain tension is adjusted with the tensioning screw on the side panel: turning clockwise tightens the chain and anticlockwise loosens it. The saw has no oil tank, so the chain is lubricated by hand with an oil can every 15–20 minutes. The switch lock prevents accidental starting.
The rated voltage of the saw is 18 V DC, protection class III and speed 3200 min⁻¹. The sound pressure level is 78.0 dB(A) and the sound power level 89.0 dB(A) (guaranteed 92 dB(A)). The saw is not intended for felling trees.
Uses and suitability:
The cordless pruning saw is designed only for cutting wood: cutting branches, trimming shrubs and brushwood and cutting up small trees and twigs.
- Removing branches from fruit and ornamental trees: Cutting dry and excess branches about 15 cm from the trunk in three cuts, so that the bark does not tear.
- Clearing shrubs and brushwood: Cutting thick shrub shoots and brushwood in the yard, at the cottage and along plot edges.
- Cutting up twigs and branches: Cutting pruned branches for compost or firewood on a sawhorse.
- Light yard work: The 10 cm bar and 1.1 kg weight suit tight spots, such as next to a fence or wall.
The saw takes Yato 18 V batteries, such as the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery, which are charged, for example, with the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. For thicker branches, choose the model with a larger bar, Yato cordless pruning saw 7″ 18V, body only. The set version YT-828135 includes a 2 Ah battery and a charger.

User instructions for the Yato cordless pruning saw 10 cm, body only:
Fitting the bar and chain: Remove the battery and wear protective gloves. Open the locking knob and remove the side panel. Place the chain in the bar groove and on the drive sprocket so that the cutters on the links point according to the direction marking on the housing. Refit the side panel, adjust the tension with the tensioning screw and tighten the locking knob. A correctly tensioned chain lifts 3–4 mm from the bar; check the tension every 10 minutes of use.
Lubrication: The saw has no oil tank. Every 15–20 minutes, stop work, remove the battery and side panel, clean the chain and apply chain oil to the links with an oil can. Used engine oil must not be used.
Fitting the battery and starting: Make sure the trigger is not pressed and slide the battery into the battery slot until it locks. Remove the bar cover, hold the handle with your right hand and place your left hand on the rubber-coated part of the housing. Make sure the top guard is down, press the lock button with your thumb and press the trigger. The saw stops when the trigger is released.
Cutting: Bring the saw to the branch only at full speed and cut with the lower edge of the bar. Do not cut with the upper quarter of the bar tip, do not raise the saw to shoulder height and do not stand in line with the cut. Thick branches are first cut from below and above about 15 cm from the trunk, and finally next to the trunk from above.
Maintenance and storage: Remove the battery, clean the housing and ventilation openings, check the chain tension and condition and cover the chain with a thin layer of oil. Sharpening is best done at a service centre. Store the saw in a dry place with the bar cover fitted.
Warnings:
- Kickback: If the bar tip hits an object or the chain jams in the kerf, the saw can be thrown towards the user. Always hold the saw with both hands.
- Not for felling trees: The saw is designed for cutting branches and shrubs; it must not be used for felling trees.
- Wood only: Do not cut plastic, concrete or other building materials; watch out for nails and stones in the wood.
- Not in a tree or on a ladder: Work standing on a firm, level surface.
- Personal protective equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a safety helmet and protective gloves.
- Jammed material: Remove the battery and make sure the switch is in the off position before removing a jammed branch or doing maintenance.
- Moisture: Do not expose the saw to rain and do not work in rain or fog.
- Slippery handles: Keep the handles dry and free of oil and grease.
