Description
Yato cordless lawn mower 37 cm, body only (YT-85223) is a push-along cordless lawn mower that runs on two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries connected in series, i.e. at a voltage of 36 V. The cutting width is 370 mm, and the cutting height is adjusted centrally with a single lever to six positions, 25–75 mm. The body-only version does not include batteries or a charger.
The motor is brushless, and the blade’s rated speed is 2900 rpm. The mode selector offers two modes: ECO saves battery and AUTO adapts the motor speed to the load. The four-stage battery charge display on the handle shows the remaining charge, and battery cell overheating protection cuts the power when needed.
The grass collector has a capacity of 35 land a full indicator. The mower can also be used without the collector, in which case the discharge plug mulches the clippings onto the lawn (mulching). The wheels are 150 mm in diameter at the front and 200 mm at the rear, which makes the mower easier to move on uneven grass.
The handle is padded and adjustable to three heights; quick-release locks fold it, and the mower can be stored upright. The operating switch has a lock-off button and a safety key, and the unit will not start if one of the batteries is missing or empty. The IP rating is IPX1 and the weight 13.5 kg. Thanks to battery operation, the mower is considerably quieter than petrol mowers (LpA 76.1 dB(A)) and needs no extension cable.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless lawn mower 37 cm, body only is intended for regular mowing of home gardens and small lawn areas.
- Detached and terraced house gardens: the 37 cm cutting width and 35 l collector suit small and medium-sized lawns with corners and narrow paths.
- Cottage gardens with no power point: two 18 V batteries are enough without an extension cable; the same batteries fit other tools in the range, for example the Yato cordless trimmer 18V 108-137 cm, body only.
- Mulching: with the discharge plug, the clippings stay on the lawn as fertiliser, so the collector does not need emptying.
- Other cutting widths: for smaller gardens the Yato cordless lawn mower 2 x 18V 34 cm, body only and for larger ones the Yato cordless lawn mower 2 x 18V 43 cm, body only.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless lawn mower 37 cm, body only:
Assembly: attach the lower handle brackets next to the rear wheels with the levers (three angle positions, pointers at the same mark on both sides), attach the handle to the brackets with the levers and washers, and fix the switch cable with the clip. Hang the grass collector on the hooks on the rear wall of the body with the discharge chute cover raised. Without the collector, the discharge plug must be in place and the cover closed.
Cutting height: pull the adjustment lever out of the guide slot, move it to the required position (25–75 mm) and lock it in the slot. Adjust only when the mower is switched off, the key removed and the batteries removed.
Batteries: open the battery compartment cover, push in two identical, equally fully charged Yato 18 V batteries until the latches lock, and close the cover. Insert the safety key in the socket on the housing.
Starting: press the lock-off button in the middle of the switch and pull both switch levers against the handle; keep the levers pressed with both hands. Releasing the levers stops the mower; the blade keeps turning for a moment.
Mowing: check the area for objects and cables, cut only dry grass and no more than a third of the blade length at a time. Push the mower forwards as you walk, in slightly overlapping rows; mow across slopes. Empty the collector regularly.
Maintenance: remove the key and batteries, and clean the body and ventilation openings with a brush or cloth (compressed air max. 0.3 MPa); do not wash with a water jet. Lightly oil the cutting edges of the blade after cleaning. Replace the blade with an original one every two years or 50 operating hours; remove it with a spanner anticlockwise, arrow in the direction of motor rotation. Wash the collector in lukewarm soapy water and dry it in the operating position.
Storage and transport: key out, batteries removed, maximum cutting height; in a dry, frost-free place at 10–30 °C, upright with the handle folded if needed.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual before use. Wear sturdy footwear, long trousers, safety glasses and ear defenders.
- Keep hands and feet away from the rotating blade. The blade keeps turning for a moment after the switch is released.
- Keep children, pets and bystanders away from the mowing area: objects thrown out are a hazard.
- Do not cut wet grass and do not expose the unit to rain (IPX1). Do not mow on steep slopes.
- Always push the mower forwards; do not pull it towards you. Walk, do not run.
- Always remove the safety key and the batteries before adjusting, cleaning, changing the blade and transport, and whenever you leave the unit.
- Use only Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries YT-82842, YT-82843, YT-82844 and YT-82845 and Yato chargers YT-82848 or YT-82849. Do not combine a worn and a new battery.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which batteries does the Yato cordless lawn mower 37 cm, body only need? Two Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries (2, 3, 4 or 6 Ah), preferably the same size and equally fully charged. The mower will not start with one battery.
Can the mower mulch the grass onto the lawn? Yes. When the collector is removed and the discharge plug fitted, the clippings stay finely chopped on the lawn.
What is the difference between ECO and AUTO modes? ECO keeps the speed low and extends battery life; AUTO raises the speed as the load increases, for example in long grass.
How large a lawn is the 37 cm mower suitable for? The manufacturer intends it for home gardens and small lawn areas; the operating time depends on the battery capacity and the grass length.
What does the 35 l collector mean in practice? The collector fills faster than the 50 l collector of the 43 cm model, so in long grass you need to empty it more often; the full indicator shows when the collector is full.
How often is the blade replaced? With an original blade every two years or 50 operating hours, or earlier if the blade is worn or damaged.
Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and the plastic bags into plastic collection. A discarded Yato cordless lawn mower 37 cm, body only is waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): it must not be disposed of with mixed waste but taken to a WEEE collection point or the retailer. Return the Li-Ion batteries separately to a battery collection point with the terminals taped. A worn blade is steel scrap suitable for metal collection, and the plastic collector goes to plastic collection or to WEEE collection with the unit.
