Mechanical foot-operated log splitter for splitting firewood. This splitter needs no electricity at all, so it is well suited to cottages without electricity or places where getting power is difficult, for example. This also makes it very quiet and safe to use. A light 10 kg splitter that is easy to move from place to place.
The splitter is operated by pressing it with your foot, so that the pusher on the rail presses the wood to be split against the splitting wedge by one ratchet notch. When you lift your foot, the pusher automatically tightens to the next notch. This movement is repeated until the wood splits all the way through. Larger and knottier logs may need several presses, while smaller logs without knots split with a single press.
This lever technique can achieve a pressing force of 12kN (1.2T), which lets you split medium-sized logs with few knots quickly and effortlessly. Knotty logs can also be split easily by repeating the splitting movement several times. Thanks to the 430 mm long frame, the splitter can also handle very long logs. Frame diameter 60–180 mm for logs of different sizes. Because the position of the pusher is adjustable, setting the pressing gap is quick, and you do not have to wait as long for the pusher to travel the whole length of the rail as with electric splitters. The pressing distance can also be adjusted smaller or larger to suit the pieces being split, so you do not have to lift your foot as high.
This splitter is particularly well suited to making firewood easily and effortlessly in places without electricity, with no noise or dust. Set the pusher support at the required point so that the logs to be split fit between it and the wedge. Then press the pedal, so that the wood is pressed against the splitting wedge and splits. Repeat the process as many times as needed.
