Description
The Yato twin lanyard is a twin lanyard with an integrated shock absorber, designed for professional use and demanding industrial environments and optimised for arresting falls when working at height. The core function of the system is based on two separate legs, which allow continuous, uninterrupted anchoring to protective structures when moving from one level to another or across scaffolding. The overall length of the product is 1.8 metres, which gives an optimal range of movement without unnecessary slack in the lanyard.
The main structure of the lanyard is made of very high tensile strength polyester webbing with a width of 30 mm. This synthetic material gives excellent protection against mechanical wear, abrasion and embrittlement from UV radiation, ensuring the reliability of critical components. The webbing material is tested to withstand dynamic loads, and its static breaking strength exceeds the strict industrial standards set for personal protective equipment.
The shock absorber uses tear-away energy-absorbing technology and is enclosed in a sealed protective pouch. In a fall, the absorber tears open in a controlled way and reduces the impact force on the body to a safe level below 6 kN in accordance with EN 355. The equipment includes one steel self-locking screw karabiner for connecting to the harness and two wide-gate scaffold hooks (gate opening 50 mm) for fast, safe anchoring.
The twin-leg design minimises the risk of human error, as the user can attach one leg to a new anchor point before detaching the other from the previous one. The lanyard gives maximum safety in use on steel structure sites, masts and industrial plants where there is a constant risk of falling. Thanks to its technical performance, the product integrates seamlessly into standard fall arrest systems and meets the requirements for CE marking.
Intended use and suitability:
The product is developed primarily for fall protection and continuous protection on industrial installation sites, in construction work at height and in maintenance tasks.
- Scaffold erection and work on platforms: The twin lanyard allows safe climbing and movement on scaffolding systems. The worker always stays connected to at least one anchor point while the legs are moved alternately up the scaffold frame or when moving sideways.
- Steel structure and mast work: The large scaffold hooks can be attached directly to steel profiles, pipes and lattice components up to 50 mm in diameter. This makes the product optimal for erecting hall frames and for maintenance work on telecommunication masts.
- Industrial plant maintenance and bridge building: Excellent for inspection and maintenance work on overhead crane runways, open service walkways and heavy infrastructure sites where attachment points change frequently.
Package contents:
- 1 pc Yato YT-74229 twin lanyard with integrated shock absorber
- 1 pc self-locking steel karabiner (harness connection)
- 2 pcs wide-gate automatic scaffold hooks (anchor connection)
- 1 pc multilingual instructions for use and inspection
Features:
- Twin-leg construction: Thanks to two separate webbing legs, the user can move safely while keeping 100% continuous anchoring at every stage of moving.
- Tear-away shock absorber: Absorbs the dynamic energy of a fall effectively and limits the arresting force on the human body to below 6 kN.
- Large scaffold hooks: Self-locking metal hooks with a wide 50 mm gate opening attach directly to thicker pipe and profile structures without adapters.
- Durable polyester webbing: The 30 mm wide specially woven polyester withstands heavy abrasion, repels dirt and stays flexible even in cold conditions.
Technical specifications:
- Overall length: 1.8 m
- Webbing width: 30 mm
- Material: Polyester (webbing), forged steel (connectors)
- Fall energy: Arresting force absorbed up to a maximum of 6 kN
- Standard and approvals: EN 355, CE
- Hook gate width: 50 mm
Yato YT-74229 instructions for use:
Carry out a visual and mechanical inspection of the equipment before each use. Make sure the polyester webbing has no cuts, wear, fraying or chemical damage, and check that the protective pouch of the shock absorber is completely intact and the absorber has not started to tear. Test the spring-loaded automatic locking of all three karabiners and scaffold hooks: the gates must close and lock by themselves without delay.
Attach the smaller karabiner at the end of the shock absorber directly to the chest (A) or dorsal attachment point (A) of the safety harness and make sure the gate is fully locked. When moving on structures, connect at least one scaffold hook to an approved anchor point, preferably above the user. When you move to a new position, attach the free second scaffold hook to the next anchor point before detaching the first hook from the old point.
Warnings:
- Never use the lanyard if it has already been subjected to the dynamic load of a fall or if the shock absorber is damaged; take the equipment out of use immediately in that case.
- Always allow for enough free fall clearance below the anchor point, taking into account the lanyard length of 1.8 m, the tear-out length of the absorber and the dimensions of the harness and worker.
- Do not let the webbing of the lanyard rub against sharp edges, welding sparks or corrosive chemicals, as they can drastically weaken the tensile strength of the fibre without any visible sign.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What is the maximum permitted user weight, including equipment, for the Yato YT-74229 lanyard?
The product is tested and approved in accordance with EN 355 for arresting the fall of a worker weighing up to 100 kg (including clothing, tools and protective equipment).
Can both scaffold hooks be attached to the same anchor point or to each other at the same time?
No. The hooks of the legs are intended to be attached to different points to ensure continuous movement. They must never be connected to each other to form a loop or attached to the same structure in a way that prevents the shock absorber from opening freely.
Recycling instructions:
A lanyard taken out of use must be made unusable by cutting through the polyester webbing before disposal. The metal karabiners and scaffold hooks are separated and sorted into metal recycling. The polyester webbing and the absorber’s protective pouch are disposed of as mixed or energy waste according to local waste regulations. The paper instructions for use are recycled in paper collection.
