Description
Schwan’s 4-piece putty knife set offers genuine German “Made in Germany” quality at an affordable price. This set is an indispensable aid for professional painters and home renovators alike. The set includes four putty knives of different widths (50 mm, 80 mm, 105 mm and 120 mm), which ensures that you have the right tool for every work stage, whether it is precise filling in a tight hole or levelling a larger surface.
The putty knives are made of high-quality, flexible spring steel that follows the surface extremely well, leaving an even result. At the top edge of the blade there is a durable plastic “spine” that serves as the handle. This plastic strip is designed to be acid-resistant, which extends the life of the tool when handling chemicals. The thin, sharp edge of the putty knives makes them versatile: they are suitable not only for applying fillers but also for efficiently removing old paint, glue and wallpaper.
Intended use:
The putty knife set is a versatile tool for surface treatment:
- Filling and levelling: Filling holes, cracks and joints with filler or putty.
- Smoothing surfaces: Applying filler in thin, even layers.
- Removing material: Removing old wallpaper, paint splashes or sealant residue (so-called scraping).
- Crafts and restoration: Precise shaping of small items with compounds.

Instructions for use:
Filling: Take a small amount of filler on the tip of the putty knife. Press the knife flexibly against the surface at an angle of about 30–45 degrees and draw the filler into the hole. Finish by drawing the knife lightly over the surface to remove excess material.
Removal work: Use the putty knife as a scraper by pushing it at a shallow angle under the material to be removed (such as dampened wallpaper). Take care not to damage the wall surface underneath with the sharp corners.
Cleaning: Clean the putty knives with water or a suitable solvent immediately after use and dry them carefully to prevent rust.
Recycling instructions:
- Product: Metal collection (if the plastic part can be removed) or mixed waste/energy waste according to local instructions.
- Packaging: Cardboard/plastic collection.
