Description
The Kapro Apollo spirit level with handles (985XL) is a versatile box-type spirit level that helps with installing straight and sloping surfaces in construction, installation and interior work. At the heart of the design are three fixed acrylic vials (level, plumb and 45°) with a nominal accuracy of ±0.5 mm/m. This covers general levelling needs, from aligning worktops, frames, machine bases and equipment stands to checking angles.
Vertical measuring is speeded up by the patented Plumb Site® Dual-View™ solution. It lets you read the plumb vial straight from the front without looking from the side, which reduces parallax errors and makes installation easier in tight spots such as doorways, frame structures and risers. With the plumb visible from the front, alignment is straightforward even when working alone.
The level vial supports basic levelling, and the 45° vial speeds up laying out trims, railings and surfaces that need a slope. The Apollo can be turned completely upside down, so the same tool is suitable for floor and ceiling levelling and, for example, for checking the underside and top of a beam in parallel.
The base is finely milled, which improves contact with the measuring surface and reduces slipping, especially on hard, smooth substrates. The ends have guards that cushion knocks and help keep the tool working in site conditions.
The Ergo Grip™ handles are secure and comfortable to use even during long installations. The handles make it easier to control the spirit level with one hand and support a steady grip when aligning overhead.
Intended use:
- Drywall construction and interior lining: Truing wall frames, battens and boarding needs repeated checks of plumb and level. Plumb Site® Dual-View™ lets you read the plumb straight from the front, so the position is easy to check without leaning round to the side. The finely milled base improves grip on plasterboard, painted surfaces and metal frames, which makes measuring easier when working alone.
- Pipe, plumbing/HVAC and duct installations: Aligning pipes, ducts and risers needs control of both plumb and level. The handles give a secure grip, and the fully reversible body allows floor and ceiling levelling with the same tool. The magnetic version is suitable for steel surfaces, so the level stays in place and your hands are free for closing connections.
- Door and window installations: When levelling frames and thresholds, the front view of the plumb vial reduces misreadings and speeds up adjustment. The 45° vial also helps check the slope of decorative trims and window sills. The handles support a controlled grip when the frame is pressed gently into position.
- Woodwork and interiors: Straightening worktops, shelves, cabinets and furniture needs measurements to be repeated quickly in different positions. The body with handles is easy to place and lift from one place to another, and the milled base improves contact against wood. By turning the spirit level upside down, you can also check the straightness of the opposite edge of the structure without changing tools.
- Electrical and fixing work: Repeatable measurements are important when installing rows of sockets, cable trunking, rails and gutters. Plumb Site® makes plumb alignment easier, and the 45° vial supports the layout of sloping cable guides.
Features:
- Accuracy: ±0.5 mm/m: suitable for general construction and installation measurements without a separate calibration tool.
- Vials: Fixed acrylic vials (level, plumb, 45°): cover the basic needs of straight and angled installations.
- Plumb Site® Dual-View™: Front view of the plumb vial: reduces parallax errors and speeds up plumbing.
- Finely milled base: Improved contact with the measuring surface: a more stable position and more precise reading.
- Body with handles: Ergo Grip™ handles: a secure grip and controlled handling even when working overhead.
- Fully reversible body: Allows floor and ceiling levelling and parallel checking of top and bottom surfaces.
- 45° vial: Speeds up laying out sloping trims, railings and inclined surfaces.
- End guards: Cushion knocks and protect the body during work.
Kapro Apollo spirit level instructions for use:
- Before use: Make sure the base and the target surface are free of dust and debris. Check that the bubbles in the vials move freely.
- Levelling horizontally: Place the spirit level on the surface and adjust until the bubble settles between the centre lines. Repeat at different points if necessary to make sure the whole length is straight.
- Checking plumb: Place the spirit level against the side of the item and read the plumb vial straight from the front through the Plumb Site® window. Fine-tune until the bubble is centred.
- Checking a 45° angle: Align the item with the 45° markings on the vial. Useful for trim work and sloping installations, for example.
- Inverted measurement: Turn the spirit level upside down when measuring a ceiling or overhead structures; the vials work the same way when inverted.
- Flip test to check accuracy: Mark the position of the bubble in a level measurement, turn the spirit level 180° in the same spot and make sure the bubble stops at the same centre point.
- Maintenance: Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid solvents, which can cloud the acrylic. Store dry and protected from direct UV light.
Warnings:
- Do not use the product near live wires without suitable precautions.
- Risk of falling: avoid overreaching on scaffolding and ladders; always keep a stable working position and use fall protection if necessary.
- Do not expose the vials to strong solvents or heat.
- Check that it works after a drop or hard knock before continuing work.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Does the Apollo have a plumb vial that can be read from the front?
Yes. Plumb Site® Dual-View™ gives a direct front view of the plumb vial, which makes aligning verticals easier.
What is the stated accuracy?
±0.5 mm/m. This covers normal levelling needs in construction and installation.
Can the tool be used upside down?
Yes. The design is fully reversible, so floor and ceiling levelling can be done with the same tool.
What is the difference between the 45° vial and the basic vials?
The 45° vial speeds up laying out sloping structures and trims without a separate angle gauge, while the level and plumb vials cover basic levelling.
