Description
Laatu cut-resistant glove 3X42E (CutShield Winter) is a seamless winter glove with cut protection rated at level E under the EN 388:2016 standard. The base knit is made of HPPE yarn and glass fibre, and the palm is coated with latex. The glove is very soft and comfortable on the hands despite its high cut protection class.
The performance code 3X42E means abrasion resistance at level 3, tear resistance at level 4 and puncture resistance at level 2. The cut protection letter E is based on the cutting force measured with the ISO 13997 method (TDM), which is at least 30 N at level E. The coup test result is not given (X), which is usual for cut-resistant knits that contain glass fibre.
The soft, flexible construction gives good fingertip feel, also when handling small parts. The seamless knit follows the shape of the hand without chafing seams, and the glove is made with durability and a precise fit in mind. The knit is low-linting, so the glove leaves fewer fibres on the surfaces you handle.
As a winter version, the glove is intended for cold conditions and outdoor work, and its cold protection is rated under the EN 511 standard with the code XIX (contact cold level 1). The latex coating is waterproof and covers the palm and fingers, and on the back of the hand the coating wraps over the fingertips. The textured coating surface gives grip on wet and cold objects. The knitted cuff is grey with a yellow edge finish.
Intended use and suitability:
Laatu cut-resistant glove 3X42E is suitable for winter work that involves handling sharp-edged parts and also calls for precise fingertip feel. For the same tasks without winter features, choose the Laatu cut-resistant glove 4343FX Cut Super class F; a lined level D alternative is the Laatu cut-resistant glove 4343DX lined winter glove.
- Thin sheet and sheet metal work outdoors: Handling cut sheet metal, trims and roofing sheets in freezing weather, when both the palm and the fingers are exposed to sharp edges.
- Glass and window handling: Moving and installing glass panes and glass parts in cold conditions, where the waterproof latex palm keeps its grip on wet surfaces.
- Construction and installation sites: Handling metal studs, profiles and fasteners on winter sites, where the soft knit gives you feel for small screws and parts.
- Cold storage and logistics: Handling sharp-edged packages, strapping bands and metal parts in cold spaces.
- Recycling and demolition: Sorting and handling metal and glass waste outdoors when you need both cut protection and waterproofing.

Laatu cut-resistant glove 3X42E instructions for use:
Choose the right size by measuring the circumference of your palm across the knuckles. A glove that is too loose reduces fingertip feel and grip, and one that is too tight restricts movement and blood circulation in the cold.
Inspect the gloves before every use. Take a glove out of use if its knit or coating has holes, cuts, loose coating or significant wear, because a damaged glove does not give the stated protection.
Put the gloves on while they are dry. If the inside of the gloves gets wet, dry them at room temperature before the next use; do not dry them right next to a radiator, sauna stove or open fire.
Store the gloves in a dry, cool place away from light, chemicals and ozone-producing equipment.
Warnings:
- Not full cut protection: Level E cut protection reduces the risk of cut injuries, but no glove fully protects against sharp edges or blades.
- No puncture protection against needles: Puncture resistance 2 does not protect against needles, hypodermic needles or other thin, sharp points.
- No protection against fire or heat: The glove does not protect against fire, hot surfaces, sparks or molten metal.
- Rotating machinery: Do not use the gloves near rotating parts such as a drill bit, lathe or grinder, because the glove can get caught.
- No chemical protection: The glove is not a chemical protection glove.
- Latex: The coating contains natural rubber latex, which can cause allergic reactions in sensitised people.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What does class E mean for the Laatu cut-resistant glove 3X42E?
E is a level of the ISO 13997 cut test in the EN 388:2016 standard, where cutting through the glove takes a cutting force of at least 30 N. The scale runs from A to F, and E is the second-highest level.
Is the glove soft even though its cut protection is high?
Yes. The glove is very soft and its seamless HPPE knit flexes well, so you keep your fingertip feel when handling small parts too.
Is the glove waterproof?
The latex coating on the palm and fingers is waterproof. The knit on the back of the hand is uncoated apart from the fingertips, so the glove is intended for handling wet objects, not for putting your hands under water.
What does the X in 3X42E mean?
X means that the coup cut test has not been carried out. Knits that contain glass fibre blunt the blade used in the coup test, so the cut protection is given as the letter from the ISO 13997 test.
Which sizes is the glove available in?
The glove is available in sizes 8–11.
Recycling instructions:
Dispose of a used Laatu cut-resistant glove 3X42E with mixed waste, because the HPPE, glass fibre and latex materials cannot be separated from each other for recycling. If the glove is contaminated with hazardous substances, dispose of it according to the instructions for that substance.
Sort cardboard and paper packaging into cardboard collection and plastic packaging into plastic collection in line with local waste management regulations.
