Description
The Edma Transplac board carrier is a 560 mm long all-metal carrying handle that lets one person carry a large plasterboard, building board or wood-based panel. The bottom edge of the board is placed in the tool’s notch, which takes boards up to 50 mm thick; as you lift, the board is clamped against the shaft and rises off the floor as you lift the handle.
The tool’s wide foot keeps the board stable while carrying, and the rubber-coated handle gives a secure grip even with gloves. Your other hand supports the top edge of the board, so a 1200 x 2600 mm board can go through doorways and up stairs without a second person.
The body is all metal, so the tool withstands site use and the weight of the boards without breaking. The tool weighs about 1.4 kg and fits in a tool bag or on top of a stack of boards.
The board carrier is suitable for moving plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, plywood, MDF, chipboard and insulation boards on site and in the warehouse. For lifting boards to the ceiling, the same range includes the Edma board lift Gen 2, 450 cm 80 kg, for ceiling and wall boards, and for supporting the board during installation, the Edma board installation support Blocplac 066555.
Intended use and suitability:
The carrying handle puts the centre of gravity of a heavy board under your hand, so you do not have to carry the board by its edge with your fingers.
- Plasterboard installation: 12.5 and 15 mm boards are moved from the stack to the wall alone; your fingers do not wear against the edge of the board.
- Plywood, MDF and chipboard: boards up to 50 mm thick move around the joinery workshop and the site without a helper.
- Insulation boards and gypsum fibreboards: heavy but thin boards stay steady in the notch thanks to the wide foot.
- Warehouses and builders’ merchants: picking and loading boards as a one-person job.

Edma Transplac board carrier instructions for use:
Setting up: Stand the board up on its edge. Push the tool’s notch under the bottom edge of the board as close to the middle of the board’s length as possible; centring is what keeps it balanced.
Lifting and carrying: Grip the handle and lift straight up; the board is clamped against the shaft. Support the top edge of the board with your other hand and carry the board upright. Put the board down before you remove the tool.
Care: Wipe plaster dust off the notch and handle; check that the notch has not bent.
Warnings:
- The weight of the board is on one hand: do not exceed your own safe lifting capacity; carry heavy boards in pairs.
- Centre the tool on the middle of the board’s length: placing it off-centre will tip the board over.
- Wear protective gloves and safety footwear; keep your feet out from under the board when putting it down.
- Not for boards thicker than 50 mm or boards whose edge breaks (e.g. brittle insulation without support).
