Description
The Nankai mini torch 1W is a battery-powered hand torch with 9 LEDs and a total power of 1 W. The luminous intensity of each LED is 11,000–13,000 mcd, and the LEDs are grouped around the reflector to give an even beam at close range.
The power switch is a large button at the rear of the body that you press with your thumb. The large button can be used even with work gloves on and in the dark without having to look for the switch.
The body is made of aluminium alloy, which stands up to drops and abrasion better than a plastic body and conducts heat away from the LEDs. A wrist strap is attached to the end of the body, which keeps the torch in your hand even if you lose your grip, for example on a ladder or under a vehicle.
The power source is three AAA batteries, which are not included. Battery power means the torch does not need charging and does not run down in storage as quickly as a rechargeable light, and flat batteries can be changed straight away in the middle of a job.
Intended use and suitability:
The Nankai mini torch 1W lights up close-range work where you need a light source that is light and always with you.
- Maintenance and repair work: inspections under the bonnet, inside machines and behind cabinets, where the light has to go straight onto the target.
- Power cuts and emergency light: a backup light for the home and summer cottage that runs on batteries without charging.
- Vehicle: kept in the glove box for changing tyres and inspections.
- Storerooms and attics: unlit spaces where you spend short periods of time.
- Hiking and outdoor activities: a light, portable torch in a rucksack or pocket.
Package contents:
- Nankai mini torch 1W, 9 LEDs (1 pc)
- Wrist strap attached
- Batteries not included
Features:
- 9 LEDs: a beam formed from several points reduces the shadows caused by a single bright point in close-range work.
- Luminous intensity 11,000–13,000 mcd per LED: enough for close-range inspection work.
- Large power button: can be pressed with the thumb and with work gloves on.
- Aluminium alloy body: withstands impacts and abrasion and transfers heat away from the LEDs.
- Wrist strap: stops the torch falling if you lose your grip.
- 3 x AAA battery power: flat batteries are changed straight away, no charging time.
- Pocket size: fits in a pocket, tool bag and glove box.

Nankai mini torch 1W: instructions for use:
Fitting the batteries: Unscrew the rear of the body. Insert three AAA batteries according to the polarity markings in the battery compartment. Screw the rear back on by hand, not with a tool.
Use: Switch the light on and off by pressing the button at the rear with your thumb. Put the wrist strap round your wrist before working at height or in a tight space.
Changing the batteries: Change all three batteries at the same time and use batteries of the same type and brand. Mixing old and new batteries heats up the weaker battery and can cause a leak.
Storage: Remove the batteries if the torch will not be used for a long time. A leaking battery corrodes the contacts in the battery compartment and makes them unusable.
Cleaning: Wipe the body and lens with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents. Keep the thread and contacts of the battery compartment dry and clean.
Warnings:
- Do not look directly into the LEDs or shine the beam into another person’s eyes; the bright light dazzles and causes temporary loss of vision.
- Do not mix new and used batteries or different types of battery.
- Do not try to recharge disposable alkaline batteries; they heat up, leak and can burst.
- Insert the batteries according to the polarity markings; a battery inserted the wrong way round heats up.
- Remove the batteries for long-term storage in case of leaks. Handle leaking batteries with protective gloves.
- The torch is not waterproof. Protect it from rain and immersion; moisture in the battery compartment corrodes the contacts.
- Do not dismantle the torch other than to change the batteries.
- Keep the torch and batteries out of the reach of children. A swallowed battery requires immediate medical attention.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What batteries does the Nankai mini torch 1W need? Three AAA batteries, which are not included.
Does the torch have a rechargeable battery? No. The torch runs on replaceable AAA batteries.
Is the torch waterproof? No. The torch is not intended to be immersed or used unprotected in the rain.
What does mcd mean? The millicandela is a unit of luminous intensity that indicates the brightness of an LED in one direction. The stated 11,000–13,000 mcd applies to a single LED, not to the luminous flux of the whole torch in lumens.
Can the torch be used with gloves on? Yes. The power button is large and located at the rear of the body, so it can be pressed with the thumb even with work gloves on.
What should I do if the torch does not light with new batteries? Check the polarity of the batteries, screw the rear fully closed and clean the contacts in the battery compartment with a dry cloth.
Recycling instructions:
Always take used batteries separately to a battery collection point, not to mixed waste. A torch that is no longer used is electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and must be taken, with the batteries removed, to an electrical equipment collection point; the LEDs and circuit board must not be disposed of with household waste. The cardboard of the retail packaging goes to cardboard recycling and the plastic parts to plastic recycling.
