Description
The Painter floor roller 40 cm is a wide microfibre roller optimised for floor coating. The body of the roller is a core with an inside diameter of Ø48 mm, fitted on an adjustable floor roller frame sold separately. The microfibre material holds coating compounds effectively and releases them onto the surface as an even layer. The 13 mm pile length is sized for optimal coverage of smooth and semi-rough surfaces such as ground concrete.
The roller is made with a seamless thermofusion method. In this method, the microfibre fabric is attached to the plastic core by melting the materials together with heat, without separate adhesive. This construction guarantees high chemical resistance to aggressive solvents and 2-component epoxy resins. The adhesive-free attachment stops the roller coming apart in the middle of coating work, which is a critical requirement in heavy floor coating.
Both ends of the roller have bevelled edges. The bevel reduces the mechanical pressure the ends of the roller put on the surface. This feature effectively eliminates roller marks and paint ridges, so the coating spreads as a uniform, seamless film. It is essential when working with high-gloss epoxy coatings, where even small differences in film thickness show visually.
The large 400 mm working width significantly increases output per square metre compared with conventional 25 cm rollers. The wide coverage means less of the applied compound’s open time is used up per stroke area. To work, the roller needs an adjustable floor roller frame that locks the core in place at its ends, allowing even rotation without friction from a central axle.
Intended use and suitability:
The product is designed for coating large continuous floor areas with systems that demand high solvent resistance and a consistent surface finish from the tool.
- Epoxy coating: Applying 2-component epoxy resins to industrial and garage floors. The thermofusion construction withstands the chemical reaction of epoxy without coming apart, and the 13 mm pile leaves an optimal film thickness.
- Floor painting and polyurethane coatings: Applying water-based and solvent-based floor paints and polyurethane coatings to smooth concrete surfaces. The bevelled edges prevent lap marks.
- Priming and dust sealing: Suitable for quickly applying low-viscosity dust sealers and primers thanks to its high absorption capacity.
Package contents:
The product is supplied individually packed. The frame needed for fitting is bought separately.
- 1 pc Painter floor roller, microfibre, 40 cm.
Features:
The properties of the roller are chosen to support even paint release and structural durability.
- Heat-bonded construction: The adhesive-free manufacturing method guarantees 100% resistance to strong solvents and 2-component paints, preventing the pile coming loose as the roller falls apart.
- Bevelled edges: Prevent sharp marks from the ends of the roller and paint squeezing out, minimising visible roller marks on the finished floor.
- 13 mm microfibre pile: Holds a large amount of paint effectively and ensures optimal coverage on smooth and semi-rough surfaces without spattering.
- Working width 40 cm: Allows up to 60% faster coverage of the area than a standard 25 cm roller, which is critical with fast-curing 2-component compounds.

Painter floor roller instructions for use:
Before first use, clean industrial dust off the roller. Wash the roller in lukewarm water and let it dry completely before using solvent-based or 2-component paints. Fit the roller to an adjustable floor roller frame (e.g. a 30-50 cm frame with 8 mm wire thickness) by tightening the ends of the frame firmly inside the roller core (Ø48 mm), making sure it turns freely. Dip the roller in the coating and roll off the excess on a grid. Apply the compound to the floor with long, parallel strokes, using the bevelled edges of the roller and working wet on wet, to avoid shade differences from overlaps.
Warnings:
Note the following safety and functional limitations when handling the material.
- Epoxy pot life: 2-component epoxies generate heat and cure quickly. If the coating starts to cure on the roller, the roller becomes unusable and can cause a fire hazard because of the heat of the chemical reaction.
- Incompatible frames: The roller cannot be used with a conventional one-sided push-in frame. It needs an adjustable floor roller frame to be attached correctly.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Answers to technical specification questions asked by professionals.
- What size roller frame does this 40 cm wide roller need? The roller is compatible with an adjustable floor roller frame (e.g. a model adjustable in length from 30-50 cm) with end pins made of 8 mm wire. The roller is attached by pressing the forks of the frame into both ends of the roller core (Ø48 mm).
- Can this microfibre roller be used for water-based acrylic paints? Yes. Although the roller is optimised for heavy epoxy thanks to its heat-bonded construction, 13 mm microfibre is also an excellent material for even application of water-based acrylic and latex paints.
- Why are bevelled edges essential in floor coating? Bevelled edges stop the ends of the roller putting hard mechanical pressure on the wet paint film. This prevents a thick ridge of paint (a roller mark) forming where strokes overlap.
Recycling instructions:
The way a used roller is recycled depends on the coating it was used with.
- A roller used with water-based paints that is completely dry and washed can be sorted as energy waste or mixed waste.
- A roller containing cured epoxy, polyurethane or solvent paint is disposed of as mixed waste (combustible waste).
- A roller containing wet epoxy resin, hardener or solvent must be taken to a hazardous waste collection point.
