Description
This velour paint roller is designed especially for finishing demanding, smooth wooden surfaces. Its short, 4 millimetre pile is optimal for even application of thin finishes such as wood stains and translucent stains (lazur). The roller picks up and releases product in a controlled way, which allows an even, thin film to form on the surface without air bubbles or runs.
The product is made with thermofusion technology. In this method, the velour fabric is melted onto the plastic core of the roller with heat, without separate adhesives. This construction makes the roller completely seamless and stops the fabric coming off the core even when paints or varnishes containing strong solvents are used. Being seamless ensures that the roller leaves no annoying lines in the paint surface.
The inside diameter of the roller is 16 millimetres, and it is designed for use with standard-size 6 mm push-in roller frames. Thanks to its small diameter, the roller is very agile to handle and fits easily into narrow gaps and onto narrow mouldings. This makes it a suitable choice for detailed treatment of complex wooden structures or furniture.
The velour used is lint-free by nature, which is a critical factor when treating smooth surfaces where even the smallest impurities show in the result. The pack contains two replacement rollers, which lets you use several shades at the same time or change rollers quickly on larger projects.
Intended use:
- Applying wood stains: Excellent for even application of various translucent stains, glazes and other thin wood stains to wooden surfaces.
- Treating furniture: The small, short-pile varnish roller lets you treat smooth furniture surfaces, doors and cabinets without roller marks.
- Painting mouldings and panels: Thanks to its agile size, the roller works well for finishing narrow panels, window frames and skirting boards.
Package contents:
- 2 x Painter velour paint roller (Ø16 mm, 4 mm pile)
Features:
- Thermofusion attachment: The velour fabric is melted onto the core, which eliminates glued seams, improves solvent resistance and reduces shedding.
- 4 mm velour pile: The short, dense pile gives a very even, smooth surface and is especially well suited to low-viscosity liquids.
- Compatible with 6 mm frames: The construction is designed to fit the most common 6 mm thick push-in roller frames, which allows easy, quick roller changes.
- Lint-free construction: The choice of material minimises the risk of fibres coming off the fabric, keeping the paint surface clean.

Painter paint roller instructions for use:
Before you start, it is advisable to wash the roller lightly with mild soapy water or brush it by hand to remove loose dust. Fit the paint roller firmly onto a 6 mm thick push-in roller frame by pushing the frame into the roller until it locks in place. Dip the roller evenly along its whole length in the product and roll off the excess on the ribbed part of the paint tray.
Apply the product to the surface with long, calm strokes along the grain. Avoid pressing the roller too hard against the surface; let the fabric transfer the product to the surface under its own weight for the smoothest finish. After work, clean the roller immediately. Water-based products are washed out with water and soap. When using solvent-based products, clean the roller with the thinner the product requires (e.g. white spirit) according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
Warnings:
- Make sure there is enough ventilation if you use the roller to apply solvent-based products.
- When using products containing linseed oil or other self-igniting oils, clean the roller thoroughly or dispose of it in a non-combustible container because of the risk of spontaneous combustion.
- Keep tools out of the reach of children and pets during work and drying.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can this roller be used with water-based varnishes?
Yes, thanks to its thermofusion construction, the velour paint roller is suitable for both water- and solvent-based wood stains, varnishes and translucent stains.
Is the roller suitable for rough surfaces?
It is not recommended. The short 4 mm pile is intended specifically for treating smooth surfaces. For rough surfaces, such as unplaned boards, a longer-pile roller is recommended.
How do I stop the pile shedding the first time I use it?
Although thermofusion prevents structural shedding, manufacturing dust may remain in the fabric. Wash the roller lightly or roll it on tape before dipping it in paint for the first time to remove the dust.
Recycling instructions:
Used rollers that can no longer be cleaned should be disposed of as mixed waste. If the roller has residues of substances classified as hazardous (such as certain solvents or liquid paint), it must be taken to a hazardous waste collection point. The retail packaging of the product is sorted into plastic or cardboard collection according to the packaging material markings.
