Description
The Procat 550 mm mitre saw unit is designed for hobbyists, renovators and DIYers who demand precision in angled sawing. This unit is an excellent choice for making mitre joints in skirting boards, cornices, picture frames and other small joinery work, for example.
Unlike a simple loose mitre box, this integrated system guides the saw precisely at the required angle. The unit is based on a sturdy wooden base with a rigid frame saw attached. The movement of the saw is guided by four adjustable chrome-plated guides that ensure a straight, precise cutting line. The measuring scales and depth stops on the base make it easier to make repeated, uniform cuts.
One of the most important features of the unit is its integrated clamps. They keep even smaller workpieces, such as narrow trims, safely in place without moving while sawing, which is a prerequisite for a neat result. The 550 mm blade supplied has fine teeth (14 TPI), which are particularly well suited to clean cutting.
Intended use:
The Procat mitre saw unit is optimised for sawing work that requires precision:
- Trim work: Precise angled sawing and mitring of skirting boards, cornices, cover strips and decorative mouldings.
- Framing: Making picture frames and other frame structures.
- Small joinery jobs: Precise cuts and sawing at varying angles in scale models or furniture repair.
Package contents:
The product is supplied as a complete unit:
- 1 pcs Procat mitre saw unit on a wooden base
- 1 pcs pre-fitted blade (550 mm, 14 TPI)
Features:
The technical solutions of the unit make precise work easier:
- Sturdy construction: The rigid wooden base gives a stable working surface and does not flex.
- Integrated frame saw: The rigidly guided saw ensures that the blade does not wander while sawing.
- Precise guidance: Four adjustable chrome-plated guides keep the saw steady and at the right angle.
- Workpiece clamping: Built-in clamps hold the workpiece safely in place.
- Measuring scales: Clear markings for angles and depth on the base.
Technical specifications:
- Blade length: 550 mm
- Teeth: 14 TPI (teeth per inch), suitable for fine sawing.
- Base material: Wood
- Guides: 4 pcs, chrome-plated and adjustable.
Instructions for use:
Set the required sawing angle by turning the saw and locking the guides in the position on the scale of the base. Place the workpiece to be sawn (e.g. a trim) against the wooden base and the back stop. Clamp the workpiece firmly in place with the unit’s own clamps to make sure it does not move while sawing. Saw with calm, even strokes and let the blade do the work; avoid pressing down too hard. Use the depth stop if needed, if you do not want to saw all the way through the workpiece.
Warnings:
- Sharp blade: Handle the saw with care. The blade is extremely sharp and can cause cuts.
- Clamping: Always make sure the workpiece is properly clamped with the clamps before sawing.
- Protective equipment: We recommend wearing safety glasses to protect against sawdust.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can the blade be replaced?
