Description
Procat snap-off spare blade pack 5 pcs contains five SK4 carbon steel snap-off blades in a resealable plastic case. The blades have standard snap-off blade dimensions: length 100 mm and thickness 0.5 mm. The width options are 9 mm, 18 mm and 25 mm.
The blade has transverse score lines at regular intervals. When the tip segment goes blunt, it is snapped off along the score line, exposing an unused cutting edge underneath. One blade therefore gives several sharp tips without changing the blade.
At the end of the case is a black snapping piece, into whose slot the tip of the blade is placed when snapping off a segment. The same piece acts as the cap of the case, and the transparent case keeps the blades in order and protected from moisture during storage.
SK4 is a carbon steel, not a stainless steel: the high carbon content keeps the cutting edge sharp for longer, but the blade oxidises in damp conditions. The dimensions and fixing holes of the blades follow the industry standard, so they fit snap-off knives of the corresponding width class whatever the brand. Suitable knife bodies for the blades include the Procat snap-off knife and the KDS snap-off knife.
Intended use and suitability:
A snap-off blade is a consumable that is changed in the knife body when the cutting edge goes blunt. The width is chosen according to the thickness of the material to be cut and the stiffness needed.
- 9 mm: thin materials and precise cuts: tape, film, paper, cardboard, wallpaper.
- 18 mm: general-purpose width: corrugated board, plasterboard liner, vapour barrier plastic, insulation wool.
- 25 mm: thick and tough materials: vinyl flooring, linoleum, fitted carpet, impact sound insulation.
- Unpacking: taped boxes, strapping and bubble wrap.
Package contents:
- 5 pcs snap-off blades, SK4 carbon steel, 100 x 0.5 mm, width according to the selected model (9, 18 or 25 mm)
- 1 pcs transparent plastic case with a snapping piece at the end
Features:
- Segmented blade: the score lines snap the tip off in a controlled way and expose a new cutting edge.
- SK4 carbon steel: hard carbon steel keeps its edge in tough and abrasive materials.
- Standard dimensions: 100 x 0.5 mm and the standard fixing fit the most common snap-off knives.
- Snapping piece in the case: a segment can be snapped off without separate pliers.
- Resealable case: the blades stay in order and protected from moisture.
- Three widths: 9, 18 and 25 mm for the same blade model.

Procat snap-off spare blade pack 5 pcs instructions for use:
1. Changing the blade: Push the locking slider of the knife to its end position and pull out the old blade. Place the new blade on the fixing pin of the slider with the cutting edge forwards and return the slider to the locked position. Make sure the blade is held firmly before cutting.
2. Snapping off a segment: Push the blade out by exactly one score line. Place the tip in the slot of the snapping piece at the end of the case or in the jaws of pliers and bend the blade against the score line away from you until the segment breaks off. Dispose of the broken-off segment immediately.
3. Cutting: Push the blade out only as far as the thickness of the material requires. A blade pushed out too far bends and breaks uncontrollably.
4. Storage: Store loose blades in the case in a dry place. Carbon steel oxidises in damp conditions.
Warnings:
- The blades are very sharp. Wear cut-resistant gloves when changing the blade and snapping off segments.
- Wear safety glasses when snapping off a segment: the metal piece that breaks off can fly.
- Do not use the blade as a lever or screwdriver. Hard carbon steel breaks under sideways twisting without warning.
- A snap-off blade is a bladed weapon. In Finland, possessing and carrying it in a public place without an acceptable reason is prohibited under the Public Order Act (järjestyslaki). Carry the blades in a closed case in a tool bag and only for work use.
- Keep out of the reach of children. The product is not a toy.
- Snapped-off segments are sharp: collect them and do not leave them on site.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Do the blades fit snap-off knives of other brands? Yes. The blade dimensions of 100 x 0.5 mm and the fixing holes follow the industry standard, so the blade fits knives of the corresponding width class (9, 18 or 25 mm) whatever the brand.
Does SK4 carbon steel withstand moisture? Not in the way stainless steel does. SK4 is a carbon steel that oxidises in damp conditions. Store the blades in the closed case in a dry place.
How many cutting edges does one blade give? The blade is snapped off at the score lines, so one 100 mm blade gives several sharp tips before it is used up.
Which width should I choose? 9 mm for thin materials and precise cuts, 18 mm for general cutting and 25 mm for thick materials that need a stiffer blade.
How do I snap off a segment safely? Push the blade out one score line, place the tip in the slot of the snapping piece on the case and bend it away from you with safety glasses on.
Recycling instructions:
Sort used blades and snapped-off segments into metal collection. Tape the blades together or put them in a closed metal tin so that they do not cause a risk of cuts in waste handling. Sort the empty plastic case into plastic collection.
