Description
Procat eyelet set 16 mm is a fixing set for making a reinforced through-hole in a tarpaulin, cover or other fabric for a rope, bungee cord or hook. The set has 24 pcs brass-coloured eyelets, i.e. 12 pairs, with an inner diameter of 16 mm, and the setting tool needed to fit them.
An eyelet consists of a ring with a collar and a flat washer. The ring is pushed into a hole punched in the fabric, the washer is placed over it on the other side of the fabric, and the collar of the ring is pressed over the washer by striking it. The pressed eyelet supports the edge of the hole, so the fabric does not tear at the fixing point under load.
The fitting tool in the set is a black-coated three-piece setting tool: a hole punch, i.e. a tubular punch for punching the hole, a setting tool, i.e. a punch with a textured grip and guide pin for pressing the collar of the eyelet, and an anvil, which supports the eyelet during fitting. The tools are used with an ordinary hammer on a firm surface.
Typical uses are repairing tarpaulins and covers, replacing a broken fixing point and making extra fixing points, for example in a trailer cover, boat cover or protective sheet. The 16 mm inner diameter suits fairly thick rope and bungee cord.
Intended use and suitability:
Procat eyelet set 16 mm is suitable for making and repairing fixing points in fabrics that are under tension.
- Tarpaulins and covers: Replacing a torn or detached eyelet and fitting extra eyelets so that the cover can be tensioned more tightly. The edge of the hole is supported by the eyelet, so the pull of the rope is spread over a wider area. For tensioning a tarpaulin, Procat polyester rope 9.5 mm x 30 m is suitable, for example.
- Trailer and load covers: Adding fixing points to a load cover or trailer canopy for bungee cords and hooks.
- Protective and shade fabrics: Fixing holes in sun shades, windbreaks, scaffold sheeting and similar fabrics.
- Boating and hobby use: Repairing fixing points in boat covers, covers and fabric bags.

Procat eyelet set 16 mm instructions for use:
1. Mark the spot: Mark the position of the eyelet far enough from the edge of the fabric. The fitting holds best where the fabric is double or reinforced.
2. Punch the hole: Place the fabric on a wooden board or other punching surface. Place the hole punch on the mark and strike it with a hammer until the punch has cut a hole through the fabric.
3. Place the eyelet: Place the ring in the anvil with the collar facing up and push the collar through the hole in the fabric. Place the washer over the collar on the upper side of the fabric.
4. Press: Put the guide pin of the setting tool into the opening of the eyelet and strike it with a hammer straight from above until the collar has folded evenly over the washer. Check that the eyelet is tight and does not turn in the fabric.
5. Maintenance: Wipe the tools clean and store them in a dry place. A worn or bent punch will not cut a clean hole.
Warnings:
- Striking: Keep your fingers away from the striking point and wear safety glasses, as the hammer blow can glance off.
- Firm surface: Strike only on a firm surface; a springy surface reduces the quality of the hole and the pressing.
- Sharp punch: The edge of the hole punch is sharp; keep the tools out of the reach of children.
- Small parts: The rings and washers are small parts that can cause a choking hazard for small children.
- Load: The strength of the eyelet depends on the fabric and the fitting; do not use for lifting or securing people.
