Description
Procat pipe wrenches are tools used in plumbing, renovation and repair work.
The body of the wrench is made of cast iron. The jaws are made of hardened steel, and their teeth are designed to grip a round pipe or fitting. The angle and design of the jaws help hold the grip while turning.
The adjustable jaw mechanism works with a traditional knurled nut, which lets it fit different pipe sizes. The moving upper jaw gives some play for changing the grip.
Intended use:
Procat pipe wrenches are intended for:
- Holding and turning metal pipes (steel, iron, galvanised).
- Tightening and loosening threaded pipe fittings, sockets and valves.
- Turning work that needs a grip on a round piece.

Features:
- Construction: Cast iron body.
- Hardened jaws: Toothed steel jaws guarantee a grip.
- Adjustability: Adjustable knurled nut for changing the size.
- Functional design: The jaw geometry helps hold the grip.

Instructions for use and maintenance:
Use: Adjust the jaws with the knurled nut so that they fit around the pipe. Place the wrench on the pipe so that the upper jaw points in the direction of turning. This ensures that the jaws bite when you turn. Make sure you have a firm grip on the handle before applying force.
Maintenance: Clean dirt and metal chips off the jaws with a wire brush after use. Lubricate the knurled nut and the shank of the moving jaw regularly with thin oil (e.g. multi-purpose oil) to keep the adjustment smooth and prevent rust.
Warnings:
- No extensions: Never use a length of pipe or any other extension on the wrench handle to get extra force. This can break the wrench and cause an accident. If you need more force, choose a larger wrench.
- For pipes only: Pipe wrenches are intended primarily for round pipes and fittings. Do not use them to turn nuts or bolts, as the coarse teeth damage angular surfaces.
- Not a striking tool: Do not use the wrench as a hammer.
- Protective equipment: Wear work gloves to protect your hands from pinching and sharp edges.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can this wrench be used to turn plastic pipes?
The coarse metal teeth of pipe wrenches bite deep and easily damage softer materials such as plastic or brass. For plastic pipes, tools designed for them with smooth jaws or a strap are recommended.
How do I choose the right size of wrench?
Choose the wrench according to the diameter of the pipe you are working on. As a rule of thumb, the capacity of the wrench should cover the largest pipe size you use, and the handle should be long enough to produce the torque needed without excessive force.
Recycling instructions:
The product is made mainly of metal (cast iron and steel). At the end of its life, it can be recycled through metal collection for reuse.
