Description
The Procat 7 kg digging bar is designed to withstand heavy use on construction sites, demolition jobs and in heavy yard work. This 150 cm long bar offers an excellent combination of mass and leverage, which makes it an efficient tool for many purposes.
The bar is made of high-quality steel, which gives it superior torsional strength and durability compared with cast alternatives. Its hardened, sharpened point is designed to withstand impacts and bite effectively into hard ground, ice, asphalt or concrete. The surface of the bar is protected with a durable powder coating that prevents rust and improves grip. The 7 kg weight is heavy enough to deliver a high impact force but still manageable for accurate work.
Intended use:
The Procat digging bar is a multi-purpose tool that is especially suitable for:
- Groundworks and yard work: Levering out stones and stumps, breaking frozen or hard ground, cutting roots and starting post holes.
- Demolition work: Dismantling structures, splitting concrete and brick, prising off boards and planks.
- Levering and lifting: Works as an efficient lever for moving and raising heavy objects such as machines, stones or building materials.
- Ice removal: Breaking thick ice in yards, gutters and walkways.

- Optimal weight/length ratio: The 7 kg mass and 150 cm length give high impact and levering force.
- Powder-coated surface: Protects the tool from corrosion and improves visibility on site.
- Versatile ends: One end is sharpened to a wedge for piercing and breaking, the other end is flat for tamping.

Instructions for use and care:
Use the bar as a lever using your body weight and leg strength, not your arms alone, to avoid straining your back. Strike the material to be broken squarely with the hardened point.
Care: Clean soil and dirt off the bar after use. Store the tool in a dry place. Although the surface is painted, in heavy use the paint wears off the point, and the bare metal can then rust. This is normal and does not affect durability, but if you wish you can protect worn areas with a thin layer of oil for long-term storage.
Warnings:
A digging bar is a heavy, powerful tool, and using it involves risks.
- Wear protective equipment: Always wear safety glasses and safety boots (steel toecaps recommended) when working. Splinters can fly when breaking stone or concrete.
- Warning, crushing hazard: Take particular care when levering heavy objects so that your fingers or toes are not trapped between the bar and the object being levered.
- Working position: Always make sure you have a firm, balanced working position. If the bar slips while levering, it can cause a fall or an impact.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is a 7 kg bar too heavy for normal yard work?
A 7 kg bar is a “general-purpose bar” that suits most jobs. It is heavier than the lightest 5 kg bars, but gives significantly more power for levering stones or breaking ice, for example. If you only do very light work, a 5 kg model may be easier to handle, but for demanding jobs 7 kg is the better choice.
Can the bar be used to lever anything?
Although the bar is extremely durable, it has a breaking point too. Do not use the bar if it is bent, and do not use extensions (such as a pipe over the end of the bar) to increase the levering force, as this can exceed the tool’s design limits and cause it to break suddenly.
Recycling instructions:
The product is made of 100% steel. At the end of its life, it can be recycled through metal collection for reuse.
