Description
The Procat hammer holder attaches to a belt and consists of a backing plate cut from genuine leather with an all-metal loop riveted to it. The leather part measures 150 × 103 mm, and the loop is 70 mm wide and 50 mm deep. The hammer rides on the belt with the handle hanging through the loop and the head resting on top of it.
The upper part of the backing plate has two vertical belt slots for the belt to pass through, plus a small round hole. With the belt running through both slots, the holder stays upright on the belt and does not twist under the weight of the hammer.
The loop is bent from shiny metal wire into a U-shaped arc, and its ends are flattened into metal flats. Each flat end is fixed to the leather with two rivets, so there are four rivets in total. The arc stands out from the leather surface, leaving room inside it for the hammer handle.
The front of the leather is smooth and orange-brown, with a black PROCAT® marking printed on it. The back is grey suede, where the backs of the rivets show. The product label on the back gives the product name in Finnish, Swedish, Estonian and English, the material marking leather & metal and a barcode.
The loop takes hammers whose handle fits through the 70 × 50 mm opening and whose head is larger than the loop, such as a claw hammer, joiner’s hammer or rubber mallet. The hammer sits in the holder head up, so you can take it in hand with a single pull and put it back by dropping the handle into the loop.
Intended use and suitability:
The Procat hammer holder is designed for carrying a hammer on a belt so that both hands stay free between tasks.
- Framing and carpentry: The claw hammer travels with you on your hip while the work alternates between nailing, measuring and lifting pieces. The handle hangs through the loop and the head rests on top of it, so the hammer is always in the same place. A suitable hammer is, for example, the Yato framing hammer 16 oz, forged.
- Joinery and installation: A joiner’s hammer or rubber mallet stays within reach when fitting trims, tiles and furniture. The holder takes no space from the tool belt pouches, because it is a separate part on the belt.
- Extra holder for a tool belt: The hammer holder is threaded onto a tool belt alongside other pouches and holders. Other workwear accessories include, for example, the Yato tool belt for tool pouches and trousers 90–120 cm and the Procat leather apron.
- Other tools with handles: A small sledgehammer or small axe can also be hung in the loop if its handle fits the 70 × 50 mm loop and its head is larger than the loop. The axe blade is kept in a blade sheath.

Procat hammer holder instructions for use:
Attach the hammer holder to the belt before you put the belt on.
- Threading the belt: Open the belt and thread its free end through the two vertical belt slots. The loop must be at the bottom of the holder, with the smooth front of the leather facing out.
- Adjusting the position: Slide the holder along the belt to a spot where you can reach the hammer with your working hand, usually at the side of the hip. Fasten the belt.
- Inserting the hammer: Pass the hammer handle down through the loop from above until the hammer head settles on the loop.
- Removing the hammer: Grip the handle just below the head and pull the hammer straight up out of the loop.
- Inspection: Check the rivets and the loop fixing from time to time. A loose rivet or a tear in the leather at a rivet is a reason to take the holder out of use.
Care: Dry wet leather at room temperature, not on a radiator or other heat source. Treat dried leather with a leather care product. Do not wash the hammer holder in a washing machine.
Warnings:
- Swinging hammer: The hammer head can swing when you bend down, climb or move in tight spaces. Take care that the hammer does not hit your head, your toes or people nearby.
- Working at height: The loop does not lock the hammer in place. On scaffolding and ladders, follow the site instructions for preventing tools from falling.
- Sharp tools: Cover the blade of an axe or other bladed tool with a blade sheath before hanging the tool in the loop.
- Condition check: Do not use the holder if a rivet has come loose, the loop is bent or the leather is torn.
- Children: Not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions, FAQ:
What size of hammer does the Procat hammer holder fit? The loop is 70 mm wide and 50 mm deep. It takes a hammer whose handle fits through this opening and whose head is larger than the loop, for example a claw hammer, joiner’s hammer or rubber mallet.
How is the hammer holder attached to a belt? The belt is threaded through the two vertical belt slots in the leather so that the loop sits at the bottom of the holder. The holder goes on the belt before the belt is buckled.
What is the hammer holder made of? The backing plate is genuine leather and the loop is all metal. The loop is fixed to the leather with four rivets, two on each side.
How do I put the hammer in the loop? Pass the handle down through the loop from above, so the hammer head rests on the loop and the handle hangs down. To take the hammer out, pull it upwards.
Can the loop carry an axe or a sledgehammer? Yes, if the tool’s handle fits the 70 × 50 mm loop and its head is larger than the loop. The axe blade is kept in a blade sheath.
How do I look after the leather hammer holder? Dry wet leather at room temperature and treat dried leather with a leather care product. Do not wash the holder in a washing machine.
Recycling instructions:
The Procat hammer holder is made of leather and metal. If the metal loop can be detached from the rivets, take it to metal collection and put the leather part in mixed waste.
Sort the complete holder as mixed waste or according to local sorting instructions. The plastic bag of the retail packaging goes to plastic collection.
