Description
The Vorel bevel 270 mm wooden is a traditional adjustable sliding bevel for measuring, transferring and marking angles. The long steel blade lets you set the angle directly against the edge of the workpiece and copy the angle to another piece without reading any figures.
The wooden stock sits comfortably in the hand and gives a firm reference surface for marking. It is locked with a screw at the end of the stock, which lets you fix the steel blade at the required angle, for example after copying an angle or when you want to repeat the same angle in series work.
Typical uses are furniture and joinery work, flooring and trim work, panelling, framing and installations where bevels and angles other than 90° must be transferred accurately for sawing or drilling. The bevel also works together with an angle gauge/profile template and a saw table in repetitive work.
Intended use:
-
Copying and transferring angles in woodwork: Measure the angle directly from the workpiece (e.g. the deviation between wall and floor) and transfer it to the saw bench or workpiece. The locking screw makes sure the angle does not change during the transfer, which reduces fitting errors and rework.
-
Trim work and finishing: Place the bevel in an internal or external corner and copy the exact angle to the mitre saw or the trim. This is particularly useful in old buildings where corners deviate from 90°.
-
Board and panel installation: Determine bevels and angled cuts for partition walls, panelling and laminate. The 270 mm length gives support on long strokes and helps mark the angle across the full width.
-
Joinery joints: An aid for bevelled joints, dovetails and angled frame members, where repeatability of the angle is important.
Features:
-
Length: 270 mm – Sufficient reach for transferring and marking angles on large surfaces.
-
Structure: Wooden handle + steel blade – Stiff blade for setting the angle, wooden stock for support.
-
Locking: Screw at the end – Secure angle locking for transfer and repetitive work.
-
Scale: Stepless transfer – The angle is copied directly from the workpiece without reading figures
-
Uses: Wood, board and trim work, installation and finishing – Measuring, copying and marking angles.
-
Maintenance: Cleaning and light oiling – Prevents corrosion of the blade and keeps it sliding smoothly.
Vorel bevel 270 mm wooden: instructions for use:
-
Setting the angle: Loosen the locking screw, place the steel blade in the angle of the workpiece and tighten the screw.
-
Transferring and marking: Place the stock against the edge of the workpiece and draw along the blade with a pencil/scriber.
-
Repetitive work: Keep it locked and use the same angle for several pieces.
-
Maintenance: Clean off dust and wipe dry; put a drop of light oil on the locking screw and the blade pivot.
Warnings:
-
Do not overtighten the locking screw, so that the threads are not damaged.
-
Avoid twisting the blade sideways; keep the blade straight against the work surface.
-
Store in a dry place; wipe off moisture after use to prevent rust.
-
Keep out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How does a bevel differ from a try square?
A try square is fixed at 90°. A bevel is adjustable, so you can copy any angle with it.
Can I measure the angle in degrees with the bevel?
Yes, transfer the set angle to a protractor/angle meter if you need a numerical value.
Can the tool be used on metal?
Yes for marking, as long as the surface does not scratch; the actual cutting is done with separate tools.
